With talk about Paul performing a duet with Freddie, here's what the Associated Press said about last night's Super Bowl performance:
"Before the game, Alicia Keys oozed both class and chops as she took a creepy concept - a duet with the late singer Ray Charles on one of his signatures, America the Beautiful - and made it work wonderfully."
Whether it worked, I think the writer is correct...it is creepy. Freddie's been dead for 14 years, and they can certainly honour his memory during the concerts, but I'm afraid if they go the video duet route like this they'll be absolutely murdered by the press, and rightfully so. If it's moving on Brian's interested in, let's hope it doesn't get too maudlin.
I remember the duet Montserrat Caballé in the Barcelona 92 Olympic games and I liket it a lot.
Another solution could be starting the concert with Freddie Mercury singing alone Bohemian Rapshody in a big screen, then entering live for the final part, wouldn´t it work?
Freddie will always remain in the minds of Queen fans so is a tribute really necessary? The Tribute concert was a fitting show in itself.
Freddie is gone as we all know and NOBY and LOML will be played as a reminder of the great showman himself. NO DUET please....it's time to move on and enjoy Paul's singing. Freddie will always be remembered as a legend.
We discussed this over and over again...
NO Paul Rodgers and Freddie duet! It's a sick idea!
NO Brian May and Freddie duet! Just as sick!
NO Roger....
NO VIDEO DUETS WITH FREDDIE WHATSOEVER
NO NO NO NO NO NO NO
Worried, I hear you ask? No not at all. BM and RT have showed a lack of it some times in the past years, but I'm sure they still got enough good taste to know that video-duets during this tour are an absolute no-no.
