I'm sure you guys all heard (of) Man in the Shadows. Now, there will be a follow up called "Hiding in Public" The album will be released in Korea only, with the first single being "Hiding in Public with b-side "(I Said)Leave me Alone" Within the next week I will get an email which contains the full track list. So far i know it will contain 10 songs. And some titles are "You're No Freddie", "Ouverture in J-major" and "Black Sabbatical" These may or may not be working titles. I'm sure we're all looking forward to this masterpiece from our very own John Deacon |

That's a wonderful news! Is John going on tour to promote the album? |
Jjeroen 06.02.2005 06:34 |
It's also got Robbie Williams, Justin Hawkins and George Michael as guest-vocalists on a track called 'Rejection'. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 06.02.2005 08:37 |
Doesnt exsist??? How dare you! My dad is off on business to Korea, he'll pick me a copy up. I cant wait! Great news. |
RainMustFall2 06.02.2005 10:30 |
This is great news. Maybe with his possible tour, it opens up the possibility of Queen touring as the 3 of them in the future! |

What do you mean - there is no Man In the Shadows?? It was promoted on the Queen convention last year. Here is the poster that was all over Prestatyn: link |

Perhaps if John were to go on the road to promote this album, he could be the support act for Queen and Paul Rodgers. Can this year get any better. WOOHOOOO! |
RainMustFall2 06.02.2005 13:35 |
I hope I find a better live bootleg for this new album than I did for MITS--the guy who recorded the last one had heavy breathing not unlike She Makes Me. |

Don't worry, I've bought a lot of tickets... I can sell you one... of course, you have to pay... The ticket for front row are 40 €, let's say that you can buy it for 80 €, ok? What do you think about it? |
Rick 07.02.2005 14:37 |
Hey FriedChicken, will the 22 minutes long vocal improvisation demo of the Prophet's Song, which is sung by John, be also on the album? |

I will miss the tour then? Is there a world tour in the making? That shithead Deacon is so selfish, he won't tour the U.S.! REMEMBER ANOTHER ONE BITES THE DUST, YOU INGRATE!!!!!!! |

I already have an acetate pressing of "Yeah I'm Bold (So What?)" backed with "(He Was) The Postman" |
Voice of Reason 2018 08.02.2005 07:35 |
Why a Korea release initially? Does John have a particular affinity with Korea? Is there any word on public appearances to tie in? |
iGSM 08.02.2005 08:07 |
Is there going to be a working of Silence Is Golden... that was left off MITS? I loved the first three minutes of static and then when John accidentally bumped the water cooler at 9:23; fucking genius. Fenderek, any chance we can work something out on those acetates? I wouldn't mind getting a copy of Yeah I'm Bold. |
Fenderek 08.02.2005 12:22 |
Depends what you've got... It's actually The Postman that is interesting one as it's not going to be featured on the album... There is a triangle solo in there! What rarities do you have...? |
~Blue_Acid~ 08.02.2005 15:42 |
John needs to make up his mind...is he retired on not. If not then John hear my words. PLAY WITH THE BAND NOT BY YOUR SELF...QUEEN...PLAY WITH THEM...ITS BAD ENOUGH THERE WILL BE NO FREDDIE BUT ITS BETTER TO BE 3/4 QUEEN THEN A HALF A QUEEN. But still its better to have half a queen then no queen at all. But over all I think the album does not exist |

No it was postphoned because of the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour. It seems they want to release it somewhere next year under the 'Queen'-flag... |
Fenderek 20.10.2005 07:12 |
So it will be Queen + John Deacon, yes? ;) |
john bodega 20.10.2005 08:26 |
"Hiding in Public" is old news. He's coming to Fox Studios Sydney to shoot the video to "I've No Plans For the Future". I'm thinking of hightailing it East so I can get a gig as a video director. I still don't know why Face it Alone didn't make the last album though, better luck this time. |

I was actually in Jeff Lynne's studio when they were recording "I've No Plans For the Future". It's a really Deacon song, I have to say. |

Fenderek 20.10.2005 10:19 |
People are waiting, indeed! But are you surprised? After something like "My Mic Is Off" leaked onto the net... man, what a teaser!!! |

Banquo 20.10.2005 12:04 |
I've heard through a trusted friend that this is probably Deacon's farewell album. 'Nine Under Par' sounds interesting only for the fact that backing vocals are by Catherine Porter, Gary Martin and the Fabba Girls. Spike Edney is credited as trumpet player and John recorded live sounds of the ping when club hits ball looped it and made it musical ie Bicycle Bells in Bicycle Race. Can't wait. Any word on a UK release yet? |
Bohardy 20.10.2005 13:58 |
Can anyone confirm if the "Badass Bordeaux Boogie" circulating on Kazaa is really John? The bass-part is reminiscent of "Fist Through A Window", but the harmonica playing sounds too good to be John. If it is him, he's certainly improved since his rather tame playing on "Red Dirt". |

DUDE I was going to do that.... >:( We should make a team product out of it. Jeff Lynne's studio was great! Paul McCartney was in and around the area with David Essex, they were all doing stuff for "Hiding in Public". Ah yes. John and I spent many a fun hour around the water cooler. It was a pretty joyous time, and the music was okay too. DoRo were there unfortunately. They reckon I'll be on the DVD. :D |

lol Fenderek how can we hear your remix of "Hiding in Public?" |
john bodega 22.10.2005 01:42 |
I spent about a week in Jeff's studio, and they did a bit of time in Rockfield as well. Sounds pretty good, what he's done so far. Lots of, er, bass. "Hiding in Public" is pretty good, in the first three minutes you can hear him sigh and go 'bwup' and make little 'wop' noises as he tries to get up the nerve to actually sing something. I hear he's actually going to do a duet with John Daker on the "Look At My Tiny Shorts" track.. (Anyone who doesn't know who John Daker is... LOOK HIM UP NOW). |

I've been searching for a decent copy of John's song, E-M-M-A Emma. I think he recorded it in Budapest in '86. Amazing Motown feel but shite copy. Any info on an official release? Was he influenced by Michael Jackson? |
Dicky Hart 24.10.2005 00:06 |
E-M-M-A Emma is about to be covered by Westlife, with the man himself on backing vocals.just to ensure it will go to number 1. |

Actually when he was on the beaches he told me he was recording this album. And he told me some of his working title songs link "Farting Fire" This talks about all the trouble he went through when Freddie died and Queen Productions (Nazis) took over link "At least I still got pubes" the hardship of becoming old. Acoustic Guitar only and a new hollow effect he does with his old sack and a pair of bongos. this is a fun live track to perform he said. link "Take a Dump on my chest" This song is 30 mins and constists of Farts' Grunting and Screaming. link And BPPs personal favorite "Paul aint Freddie, Lets Hope he is ready" I dont agree. For Lennon fans, this is like a "How Do You Sleep?" |

I heard that John is making a comeback covering Motley Crue's paean to the strippers around the globe who have given so selflessly to he and other rockers, ..''Girls, Girls, Girls'', with Vince Neil,Tommy Lee, Nikki Sixx, Mick Mars, the entire ..er crew..(Crue!) guesting! |

YES YES YES YES YES. Guess what I finally got? The REAL Man In The Shadows Live At The Budokan show on DVD :D. It is great, he is such a fabulous live performer. Uncut in excellent quality. The guy who was selling it also had a copy of "John Deacon - Cha/os in Urk" with the famous Urk impromptu "Always Lunchin At The Same Time" But that one even costed the double of Man In The Shadows Live At The Budokan. This really IS fabulous. A legendary show. Now I can finally die happy. |
john bodega 07.11.2005 06:29 |
The middle of I Guess It's Falling Out is a bass odyssey that Deacon admits can't be played live - during the live show he uses that part to change into his *other* tiny shorts while archival video of himself on holiday + drinking tea plays on the big screen. Ugh...... gross. Why did he have to start wearing such tiny shorts? It was bad at Wembley, but he's taken it to a new level on this last tour. |
spymyshadow 07.11.2005 10:30 |
If you look very close, you can see "I guess it's falling" printed on the front of his tiny pretty shorts and "out" in the back. How nice. |
john bodega 08.11.2005 09:26 |
Also, the bass middle section of IGIFO was actually supposed to have him saying "I've no plans" backwards, but he was too lazy to put it in (actually, he was on holiday) so they left it out. |
iGSM 08.11.2005 10:17 |
Has anyone heard plans of his follow up album? There was a rumour going around on the Deaky boards about a song he wrote in the 80's called 'Nobody (Recognises You On the Bus)'. Any clues on this tracks existance? |
teleman 08.11.2005 12:23 |
I'd like to see the SNL rehearsal footage of 'Nobody (Recognises You On the Bus)'. This was to be John's first U.S. network televised solo performance and he walked out after the rehearsal. |

Jeff Lynne told me he was working on a track called "Smooth" the other day so I nipped into his studio, you'll never GUESS who I found tooling around on a Fender Precision while sipping tea. It was *JOHN DEACON* in beige glory, laconically asking the session musicians to tone things down, all the while scribbling on a page of lyrics labelled "Smooth" (the title had been scribbled out several times only to be rewritten identically). I sat down next to him and said "so John, what's this song about?". He wearily pointed his index finger to the top of his head. --- So no idea if he's making yet *another* follow up, but it looks good! I can't help but wonder what the name of his next LP will be... we've had Man in the Shadows, Hiding in Public... |
Fireplace 29.03.2006 05:41 |
