Hello, Has anyone else heard "Green" by Freddie's old band Wreakage? His vocals are very supurb, I think it's before he started smoking so his vocals are even more beautiful (if thats possible) anyways, check it out it's pretty rare though.
i think his vocals on the whole Ibex set are very similar - and have a similar sound to the John/Paul vocals on Let It Be - very bluesy but also very powerful.
particularly like communication breakdown, crossroads and stone free
the "green vocals" are very very similar to the style he adopted for Mad the Swine, polar Bear and the de lane lea demo of jesus

Surely not the performace on the box set? Freddie's is so out of tune on that one.
the whole of the ibex set is loyal to the originals - there's not much interpretation in the cover songs....and Rain is a fine example of that - Freddie has tried to copy the original - which would be pretty impossible as the beatles use Rain as their first experimental song - it was the first pop song to have backwards speech, phasing and any of the other new technologies around in 66.
freddie copied it - but never really stood a chance of doing it justice....ironic really that on the beatles final tour in 66 - they didn't try out their new tracks live - perhaps they knew something that future bands didn't
