have to admit - i got into queen because of freddie's sound...the vocal orchestration and phasing on killer queen, and bo rhap
the intricate piano playing...brian's geeeeetarrr was just a bonus
let's face it there are dozens of great guitarists out there - but there's only one FM

Both Brenski and Fried Chicken are wrong...
- Name me another voice as powerful and unique as Freddie's?
- Name me another guitar that sounds like Brian May's Red Special?
You could perhaps find fake immitations, but nothing like the original.
but these things are always down to opinions
- and that's all they are really
mine (for what it's worth) is that i loved the freddie solo stuff - but just couldn't get into Brian's solo work
and that's how i make a judgement call on it - i can live without Brian's guitar (great tho it is) - but freddie's voice and piano - no way!!
one other thing - it's not a Freddie bias on my part - I also like most of Roger's solo stuff and the Cross albums got better as they got older

I'm afraid I'm one of those who is Just a Freddie fan. The only reason I've ever really liked Queen is because of Freddie's amazing voice. I think that without that, I most probably wouldn't be a fan.
I think I'd rather have Freddie's voice, especially now that he's not here to sing anymore. We've still got Brian and his guitar skills, but I don't think we'll ever see another Freddie Mercury.

Every voice is unique, There isn't a 2nd Freddie, a 2nd Brian, a 2nd Will Young, a 2nd Anton Maiden
freddie or brian? obviously freddie was number one, but brian isn't far behind. just take a look at any queen documentry and you will see all the praise from other artists. they could make a whole show of freddie alone and you will hear the praises by jagger and daultry, plant, halford, bowie, george michael, jeff tate, why? because freddie was easily in the top five and most think the number one frontman of all time. brian also was a huge influence in music but he's not freddie, even people in other styles of music loved freddie, 'tina turna' phil collins, 'rod stewart' really to many to mention. brian obviously was a an influence, the likes of jeff beck and steve vie, but many of them are considered slightly better than brian.
