Wanted to start a new thread about the attached. As you can see from the last post, the BBC Watchdog programme has contacted me about the email I sent them. Before I call them, Does anyone have any FACTS that I should pass on. (I know I made an error in the email sent to them, they were advertising tickets at £295, not £395). I'm going to give it 24 hours before I contact them to give you guys a chance to have some imput.
Colin.
I am sure they don't get their tickets from Queen fan club members. I am truly convinced that ticket master, eventim, ticketone and whatever their names are have a black market outlet on their own, most likely through corrupt employees. Otherwise it would be impossible that best seats NEVER get into public sales but appear in the shortest possible time on ebay and other high price websites. (for example 1st ctaegory tickets for Munich and Frankfurt were not availbale from eventim at all)
Latest example: The Cream reunion tickets were impossible to get from the legal website but are now sold all over the internet for hundreds of dollars per ticket.
It's time that such secondary sales of tickets are made illegal. It's happening now with the tickets for the football world cup 2006. It will be illegal to sell tickets for higher prices to make a profit from the sales.
I had this issue back in 2000 with tickets for The Who on their UK tour. Tickets went on sale to fans via a private number two days before the general public at 9am.
I got through at 8.55 and managed to get the operator to keep me on hold until the first line opened, which she did. I then asked for front row seats at Wembley, Sheffield, Manchester, Newcastle, Docklands and Birmingham and was happily told that the tickets for the first two rows had already been allocated. When I asked how this could be as I was the first caller through, she said that it's been known for tickets to appear on their allocations list and then for people with access to that list to then book the tickets for themselves and then flog them off via places like e-bay. Strangely, I wasn't surprised at all by that.
As it turned out I had passes for the shows from Harvey Goldsmith's office, but I was getting tickets for somefriends of mine and they were losing out.
Let's hope they get more than their asses kicked!
Total bankruptcy!! is the ONLY answer with getmetickets.net struck off for ever and with all employee privileges revoked. Hit them hard where it really hurts...in the pocket!!
How bad are Getmetickets.net really, I mean compared to say ticketmaster (apart from the very high prices). Surely if they were so bad they would have gone out of business by now. I read somewhere that they can even provide the ID required to go with tickets if that is what is required to gain entry.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not condoning touts of any kind, they are the scum of the Earth, but unfortunately they are just a fact of life, I'm sure everyone has at least thought about buying from a tout at some point.
Ticketmaster are licensed touts. What exactly is a "booking fee" is not a tout's markup?
and, sorry to say, but ooooohhhhhhhhhhhh Watchdog. That'll have them quaking in their boots. Nicky "sanctimonious" Campbell interviewing the most gullible people on the planet.
