For my fellow children of the 90s... How many of you read these books? What was your favorite?
(PS to Mandy - I am at the library, and I found Phantom of the Auditorium. In the story, they switched around the play, I guess for copyright reasons - Christine is "Esmeralda", her father owns the theatre, she is going to run away with the Phantom, and Raoul is named Eric (?!), and Eric/Raoul kills the Phantom. That's probably where I got the idea that Christine chooses Erik!)

My boyfriend read them. I have his reading list to prove it.
I loved them as a kid. I think the first one I read was Lets Gets Invisible which was great, I was also a fan of the Monster Blood series... Then they launched choose your own Goosebumps where you got to choose your own destiny, but after that they went off the boil with Goosebumps 2000 and stuff.
Ah the nostaglia...
Yeah, that was another good one! I think that was the second one I read...
They always had bubbly covers didn't they that were cool. The cartoon guy on the front of that Say Cheese and Die one used to piss me off though...
My favourite was Cuckoo Clock of Doom. I've managed to read a whole book in 30 minutes. Also, all the Goosebumps books have the same damn formula.
12 year-old kid who has something they don't like about themself
Irritating younger or older sibling
Use of the word 'riot'
At some point between chapters 1 - 5, something scary happens that turns out to be a prank or the main character's imagination
At the end, something either benefits or screws the main character over. Not really the ending, but part of it.
I never read the books, but me and my sister watched the show religiously when we were little. "Night of the Living Dummy" gave me nightmares for years, so did the one with the crazy gardener dad with the evil plants.
I loved Goosebumps! lol I used to have over 50 of them. Most are either in my attic now or maybe sold. If the latter, I will be going to ebay soon! lol I read them in like 2nd or 3rd grade. I liked the weird camera one, the haunted mask, the dummy ones were neat, ooh and the Monster Blood ones.
That was before I found the Fear Street books. Anyone remember those?

I used to like them a lot! I remember reading Deep Trouble in one day and I was so proud of myself. :)

*pukes* I had kind of a weakness for that one about Aqua Apes or whatever they were, but there was one called Sunburn that made me decided I hated RL Stine.
God, that takes me back. I remember liking Welcome to Dead House and all the ones about the dummies - but then I remember hating violently the one about the boy who turns into a bumble bee and the one about the kid who becomes a comic book hero.
They were almost as much of an obsession for me as the Babysitter's Club...now I think that calls for a new thread!

Which ones were these? I don't remember one about the comic book or the bumble bee... They must have been after my phase :)
The bumblebee one was #17 Why I'm Afraid of Bees and the comic book one was #25 Attack of the Mutant. A little Googling came up with this site which is fairly useful for that title that's just on the tip of your tongue - and for those books you have buried memories of, brought back just by the mention of the title. link
Eee, gracious. R.L Stine. That mad man. He captivated quite a place in my heart. Until I found Biggles. He saved me. I remember liking Monster Blood and that one about the sponge that was evil and ate people then people came back to life as zombies then the zombies ate everyone including the sponge then the sponge died and everyone died because the zombies ate themselves and that was that.
