To me, Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon is one of the most cheesiest Queen song ever written. Are there anymore cheesiest ones? |
deleted user 25.01.2005 11:42 |
What? Lazing on a Sunday afternoon is a CLASSIC! Cheesy are some of brian's or roger's boring rock-tracks. |
Lady Cool Cat 25.01.2005 11:48 |
I like Lazing On A Sunday Afternoon! Anyway, I think the cheesiest Queen song is Machines and Sweet Lady. |
brian_may_wannabe 25.01.2005 11:49 |
To me it's quite cheesy. I like it, just a bit cheesy for Queen. |
Shane Jazz 25.01.2005 12:32 |
Hijack my Heart, by far. Cheesy lyrics, cheesy sounds (except for the Red Special), cheesy vocals... |
Mr.Jingles 25.01.2005 12:35 |
'Delilah' definitely. It's a funny yet very silly song, and it certainly doesn't fit the standards of Queen. We all know that it was only because Freddie was ill why the other members of Queen allowed it to be included on 'Innuendo'. Otherwise, it wouldn't have been included on an album in a million years. I doubt they would even consider including it on a rarities box set. The whole thing with the 'Meows' might be very funny, but for a band like Queen is just way too embarassing. |
AllDeadAllDead 25.01.2005 12:55 |
come on. everything from AKOM on is pure cheese. the miracle? hello? the cheesiest thing on the planet. |
deleted user 25.01.2005 13:06 |
Just because you don't like 80s pop music, it isn't cheesy. You could also say that todays shit music is cheesy. And by the way: Does this mean that "Innuendo" is cheesy, too. Its one of their best albums, my god!! |
Gunpowder Gelatine 25.01.2005 13:18 |
Delilah is pure cheese. And so is Body Language! |
Boy Thomas Raker 25.01.2005 13:38 |
No Queen song is the "most" cheesiest. That is impossible. Delilah is the cheesiest. The "st" at the end of quantifies it as the ultimate. "Most cheesiest" makes it the ultimate, ultimate. Nothing could be cheesier, or "more cheesier." |
agneepath! 11994 25.01.2005 13:43 |
Yes Delilah was a cheesy song... But it was Freddie indulging himself - and boy did he deserve to do that at that stage in his life. On that basis alone, Delilah shouldn't be considered for the most cheesiest song. |
Victoria 25.01.2005 15:29 |
By what I concieve as your question, I'd have to say the cheesiest song is In Only Seven Days. The moment "I'm so sad" is sung marks the basis of my decision. Other than that, I guess by your collective standards that the vaudeville songs are 'cheesy'. If you really want to think that you can, but those are awesome songs. They're so much fun! |
Brian_Mays_Wig 25.01.2005 15:42 |

Anyway, a cheesy Queen song for me would indeed be Delilah, but (and I know I'll get flamed for this) I really feel like the song The Miracle was mediocre, sing-songy, and cheesy. Really quite embarassing. TO me, it sounds like the lyrics were to a rejected U2 ballad, and then putting it to a weak, throwaway pop melody. Even the shimmering glow of the polished vocals seems kinda cheesy to me. The song to me seemed forced, corny and just...bad. And I like a bunch of Queen's pop stuff; I Want to Break Free, Breakthru, You're My Best Friend.....The Miracle was..... Not the same kind of stuff. It seemed to lack the passion, honesty, and "oomph" that Queen gave to most of their pop songs. It seemed to me they were retreading themselves and just phoning it in. |

Queen, esp. in the 80's, to specialize in cheesiness. Examples: The Miracle, AKOM, IWTBF, Hard Life, Friends Will Be Friends, Play the Game, etc. Of these the cheesiest (IMHO) is The Miracle. Don't worry, I still like most of these songs. |

I don't think Delilah is cheesy exactly -- it's more jarringly sweet and naive. Contextually dissonant. I think whoever said it was a personal song was right. Friends Will Be Friends is so cheesy that the first time I heard it I thought, "Why are they covering an Elton John song?" And Pain is So Close to Pleasure reminds me of the always cheesy (Muskrat Love?) Captain and Tennille's "Love Will Keep Us Together." Hey, Delilah don't look so bad next to Muskrat Love, does it? --Egret |

Totally forgot about Friends Will Be Friends. I've forced it out of my memory. It's so anthemic and just... a song with a message like that isn't supposed to be an anthem. I love the shimmering pop of You're My Best Friend; you can feel the emotion in that, you knew it had something in it, when I first heard it I thought, "Hmm, who was this written for?" It's a gorgeous song. Friends Will Be Friends is like the antithesis of You're My Best Friend. |
RainMustFall2 25.01.2005 21:26 |
I can tell you, and honestly consider this. "Cheesy" is more than just lackluster or of bad taste, etc. It's just overemotionalism/self importance mixed in with mediocrity. I can say, the cheesiest Queen song really has to be One Year of Love. It sounds straight out of a "smooth jazz" radio station. But Queen was generally good at avoiding cheesy. Now, Bon Jovi is a cheese band. They should come with their own ready-to-serve macaroni. |

i agree with 'leroy' if you want hardore go listen to getto, to me that's cheese, acting like your from the getto. 'one year of love' is simply a beautiful tune with a great sax solo. 'the miracle' isn't a all-out classic but is a good song song with great guitar work. cheesy? how about 'more of that jazz' i'll take delila anyday of the week over that song. |

I really like or love all of queens songs but there is just one that i never really cared for because it 's just so cheesy and thats Good Company. Everytime i listen to a night at the opera i have to skip over that song. It's the only queen song id wish they would have never put on the album and it figures it was song by brian. The one of the few songs i do like his vocals on is all dead all dead though, beautiful song. |

you've gotta be having a laugh! good company is a lovely song.ridiculously sentimental granted but so are lots of queen songs. although it's far better than the crap we are forced to listen to nowadays, and i cant help singing along to it, "Jesus" from the first album is by far the most cheesy. |
Boy Thomas Raker 27.01.2005 20:49 |
I'm assuming that if you think Good Company is cheese you're youngsters. There's a thing called 'paying homage' and in 1975, Brian was doing just that to the music he listened to growing up in the May household. It's authentic, and faithful, listen to George Formby and trad jazz bands of the 40s and you'll see how spot on it is. If you don't like it that's fine, but it's so far from cheese it's ridiculous. |
lyricalassasin77 27.01.2005 21:39 |
I agree with the alot of you all that choose "Delilah" but I would have to say the cheesiest song they ever made was "Good Old Fashioned Lover Boy". I mean I know Freddie was gay but this song really puts it out there ya know........LoL........other ones I would have to say is "Bicycle Race" (how this was ever a hit I have no idea) and "My Baby Does Me" off of the Miracle album........Peace |
mike hunt 28.01.2005 00:47 |
the one thing realize on this site is all the young kids here, it explains alot. it's hard to talk music with kids because they know little about music. most of these postings shows most of ya ages, it's pretty obvious now. |

Good Company's brilliant, although I can see why people think it's cheesy, but as an homage, it is discounted from cheesiness. Delilah's not cheesy, it's just rubbish. One Year Of Love is pretty cheesy, as is just about anything on Hot Space, except they're mostly crap as well. Cheese isn't bad though, You're My Best Friend's cheesy, but it's a great song. Need Your Loving Tonight's cheesy, but good, there are all sorts. Rain Must Fall, there you go-that's the cheesiest one, I knew it'd come to me eventually. |

"Good Company" is one of the greatest songs ever made by a rock band. I'm 32 though, and I never appreciated it until recently. Maybe you have to get older. And everything on ANATO is classy. But "Delilah" and "Don't Lose Your Head" are the epitomy of cheese, with "Ride the Wild Wind" the worst with its gaudy positive self-help messages. It sounds like Stuart Smally on SNL.... "Ride the wild wind! You are strong enough, smart enough, and people like you!" |
