Is it a real album that John Deacon did or guys made that up? If is for real, I want proof. |

My favourite track is 'Never needed You Three Anyway' the vocals are superb. |
Fireplace 25.01.2005 05:22 |
I have always particularly liked "Just A Man And His Perm". It's a very moving song about being a quiet, introspective person amidst three party animals. |
YourValentine 25.01.2005 06:02 |
Onre of my favourites was always "If You Can't Beat Them Ignore Them - Revisited" - really prophetic when you think about it.. |
quackman 25.01.2005 06:30 |
My least favorite track is "Can't Do It Without Him" It's too depressing. |
Melancholy Blues 25.01.2005 07:23 |
is there anywhere you can dowload songs from it or read about it? |
pma 25.01.2005 07:33 |
Aw heck, you guys are obviously making the song titles up since none of you wannabe's have CLEARLY never heard or even touched the album. How pathetic :-P Now perhaps some TRUE experts like Niek and Pim could post the ACTUAL tracklisting for the less educated fans... :-) The best song is still "Red Dirt" btw. But the mindblowing cover of "Sugar Baby Love" is a close second, can't get enough of that falsetto. Mmm mmm mmm. |

Similar to Brian on BTTL having a profile pic for the UK version but with him playing a guitar for the USA, my USA 'Shadows' has a pic of John playing bass in jeans and blue tee with a black background. I hope this isn't a bootleg. |

I hope this isn't a bootleg. You have clearly been ripped off. The so called USA version (indeed a bootleg) contains mostly unreleased songs that John later disapproved of because they were a bit too emotional. You can easily tell which is the official version, it's the only one that contains "What's Wrong With A Volvo". |
Dicky Hart 25.01.2005 10:50 |
The 'bass extravaganza' at the end is a bit much. Was Brian not chucking peanuts at him when he guested on one of dates of 'The Immortals' on tour The best song has gotta be 'The cheques keep rolling in' |

Nevermind.lol |

Where is this so-called album available? |
DeaconJohn 25.01.2005 17:51 |
I did not expect a new topic to be created just because of my mentioning of the 'Man in the Shadows' track as my fav Deacon song. I would prefer not to go into too much detail about this album, as to my knoledge less than 20 people througout the world have copies of the real album (as opposed to the bootleg copy performed by an unknown band, and sold at the Edmonton convention a few years back). The vast majority of people who have the REAL album, obtained it through, shall we say, 'unconventional' means. So for legal reasons, I will have to limit myself in terms of what I say about the album. |

That's fine, DeaconJohn, but does he sing good on this album? |

I think I found a bootleg MP3 of John performing Man In The Shadows at some private party gig. I can hear lots of chattering in the background, and once someone shouts "Who are you?" It may have been a cover request, though. |

Nope, no solo CD. A band called "The Immortals" and a few collaborations is as close as you're going to get. |
Lester Burnham 25.01.2005 22:32 |
Fireplace wrote: What are the odds of someone recording a song called "What's Wrong With A Volvo"?Frank Zappa. But more likely John Deacon, as it is his song. |

You obviously have no clue at all do you guys. As Pma said before. This is the actual tracklist. 01. Red Dirt 02. Man in the Shadows 03. The Birdman Blues * 04. Fist Through the Window 05. Another One bites the Dust ** 06. The Song Of The Choirboy 07. My Secret Fantasy 08. Sugar Baby Love *** 09. Farewell Bonus Track: (korean release ONLY!) 10. All Hail The Bassman * Features Brian May on solo guitar ** This version of AOBTD features the first lyrics John wrote (Lyrics about Cowboys) and it has Roger on drums *** Cover from The Rubettes This album was released in 1989 in A couple of Asian countries only. I could've sworn there were fifteen tracks. At least, the version I have has fifteen. |
Deacons 1st Choice 26.01.2005 21:51 |
It could be that you have the rare promotional copy from Iceland that contains the Bonus Track "Enough for Me" (version 8, Extended Bass Jam Mix). It was ONLY on those promo copies and it is the RAREST of ALL John tracks ever produced. It features his son on guitar, himself on drums (doing that simple pattern he is famous for) as well as lead vocals, Bass, keys, and backing tracks. John also took it a step further by mixing this version...itself making this track rare as he only ever mixed a song ONCE in his career ( the famous USA only promo 12" mix of "Backchat"). I would say you have a right fine collectible on your hands! |
pma 27.01.2005 06:11 |
Thanks for posting the tracklisting Niek. I've only heard a 30 second sample of the title track "Man In The Shadows", but someone told me it was written about "The Shadows"-guitarist Hank Marvin? Could anyone confirm this?... |
The King Of Rhye 27.01.2005 06:25 |

Pete, send me an email, I'll send you a copy of the album. No it's not about Hank Marvin, Man in the Shadows is ofcourse about Spike Edney |
