if you could erase something from Queen's history(barring the obvious "Freddie's death") what would it be??? would it be hot space??, the awfull 5ive colleberation?? or even the Britney/Pink and the rest collaberation?? the tour of Sin City that is still getting brought up?? |
Scirocco1977 24.01.2005 06:10 |
Nice topic... I would like to erase John's retirement ;). Or maybe the release of the Freddie Tribute on DVD and replecing it with the FULL tribute INCLUDING the first part. Apart from that I frankly elieve that they had a pretty unique history and it made them what they are now and I can live with that (only because I got a ticket for a show in April; otherwise this message would be slightly different) |

I'd make them erase the Works/Miracle albums, tell them to have a nice long break, and come back and make one blinding album instead. Sorry but those two albums just sound like a band treading water to me. They needed to get off the album/tour treadmill for a while. |
deleted user 24.01.2005 06:45 |
I would erase everything after 1999 (their awful collaborations with Five, Britney, Robbie and this shitty musical - I like good musicals but this is only downright silly). Also the Made in Heaven films were incredibly lame (At least there were two "real" music videos for MIH and a Winters Tale. And I would never erase an album or a concert. I think they were right to go to South Africa. And why erase "Hot Space"? Its not a weak album! |

You would erase the two greatest songs of Queen in the 80s. The Works was their most successful album in the UK ever. Be glad that we have The Works and The Miracle. I agree!!!!, though Made In Heaven was probably at least a decent attempt to put Freddie's last vocal performances on an album. |

If you would erase everything from Queen after 1982 you would erase half of their career - think about it. People who only like their 70s work are just narrow-minded and don't understand that is was their diversity in musical styles that made them the great band they were. And without the great "The Works"-album Queen would have been finished by 1984. It was a huge comeback for them and Radio Ga Ga just showed everyone the power of Queen. If you erase all that they would have been a 70s band like Deep Purple who would have been largely forgotten by the mid-80s. And Innuendo would never have been produced. Maybe you prefer todays shit over great 80s rock and pop - but your comment is just dumb. Without their 80s work Queen would not be seen as megastars (and LiveAid was their most appreciated performance ever as a band!!). As Freddie Mercury would say: Well, fuck you |

obvious; - the Britney/Pink/Beyonce and Five collaboration - John's retirement - Not the "2005 Paul Rodgers Tour" being the first tour, but the "1995 George Michael Tour" being the first one and after that, there would have been a new tour every 5 year :D so ..in 2000 they would've toured with ... well .. I think Robbie :) |

Mr.Jingles 24.01.2005 16:29 |
People who would erase essential parts of Queen's musical career (and I'm talking about anything they did with Freddie) are just fuckin' pigheaded. Sure, Queen made a couple of little mistakes as a band (like certain songs on 'Hot Space') but I think they learned from those mistakes and helped the band become even better. I remember Brian mentioned once that he did not regret not one single thing he did with Queen as an artist... and that's the way it should have been. |

Great topic! Congratilations! Anyway, I would erase the Britney-Pink thing, all the rude comments people have made about Queen (especially the RUDE comments about Freddie being gay),and of course, my dear Freddie's death. I guess that just about covers everything. P.S. I would definetly NOT erase Body Language, I love it. I wouldn't erase Hot Space, Flash, The Works, or The Miracle, as some people would like, 'cuz it's Queen, and many people don't see the wonderful things those albums have to offer us. |

Mr.Jingles 25.01.2005 03:27 |
As I mentioned before I think that Queen made some few mistakes as a band... I mean, which one hasn't? Even The Beatles did awful shit songs. Yet if I could pick something that they shouldn't have done that would be to include those awful synths on 'Play The Game'. It's an awesome song, but the synths make it sound like those cheesy sci-fi film sound effects from the 60s. |

j0ck3 wrote: Freddie's HomosexualityYou know, I do wonder what Queen would've been like without Freddie being gay. Would he have been the same camp, theatrical showman if he was straight? Or would he have written the same kinds of songs? Of course, Body Language probably never would've been written if he was straight! To me, his sexuality doesn't change how I feel about the band, but obviously it does to some people, like the fans who abandoned them after finding out Freddie was gay. It's kind of interesting to think about what might've been affected just by Freddie liking men or women. |

Mr.Jingles 25.01.2005 16:30 |
I know some of you guys mentioned erasing the fact that Freddie was gay. I think in many ways that was part of his personality, though sometimes it was taken a bit too far. So I would actually erase those fuckin' awful leotards he used to wear in the 70s, and replace them with something much less flamboyant. I definitely find disturbing watching a rock star with his cock and balls sticking out. |
deleted user 25.01.2005 18:45 |
That was Freddie's most classic outfit... if you want rockstars to look like the cliché "rockstar" than I think you have chosen the wrong band - then you should perhaps listen to the Rolling Stones. It was Freddies extravagant costumes that made Queen live unique. I think that 99 percent of the Queen fans agree that shows like Earls Court, Hyde Park or New York / Houston 1977 are THE classic queen concerts - and on all those occasions Freddie was wearing a leotard. I LOVE HIS LEOTARDS!!! |

Mr.Jingles 25.01.2005 18:51 |
I'm sorry, but I just don't fancy staring at another guy's bulge. I could perhaps tolerate those tight jeans that Robert Plant or Roger Daltrey used to wear in the 70s, but leotards are just completly disgusting to look at. I seriously don't mind if what Freddie wears is the same as the usual "cliche" rock star outfit, as long as the music is not cliche, then that's good enough for me. |
deleted user 25.01.2005 19:22 |
Yes, but then Freddie would not have been the outrageous Freddie we all know and love!!! ... then Queen would just have been another 70s rock band. You are probably the first Queen fan to complain about this. |

I'm sick and tired of you people who bash 'Made In Heaven', along with all the stuff they did in the 80s. I mean, in the case of 'Made In Heaven' they couldn't record more original post-Innuendo songs because Freddie didn't have much time left. Can you fuckin' blame Queen for that? At least they put a huge amount of effort possible on making a whole album (even if they had to take previously recorded tracks). To me anyone who bashes the great effort that was put to make 'Made In Heaven' possible is just absolutely disgraceful. Freddie went back to Montreux to record despite feeling completely weak due to his illness. He would have desired more than anything in the world to make a complete brand new album, and sadly that wasn't possible. Yet, I'm sure he's more than proud of what Brian, Roger, and John did to finish the album. And about the 80s, is just fuckin' ridiculous that people can't take anything for a change. Queen was still Queen, the problem is that some people want bands to sell them the exact same thing over and over again, and Queen was too good for that. They would expect Queen to always make their albums sound exactly like the glam-rock era of the early 70s, but it just can't be done that way. Times change, and so do rock bands. If you want to listen a band whose albums always sound the same, then go buy all the Dream Theater records. Seriously, are you guys real fans? |
Mr.Jingles 26.01.2005 12:30 |
I, like many Queen fans wasn't very fond of 'Hot Space' the first time I heard it. Yet I think that it's not all that bad as so many people want to put it, and it has grown on me a bit. It's still my least favorite album though. You could say that 'Hot Space' was a mistake, and in many ways it could possible be, but as I mentioned before Queen learned from that. |
