After listening to LIVE AT THE BOWL, and then going back to the numerous boots I have, I wonder why the band elected to cut verses out of songs when they're performed stand-alone, and not in part of the medley.
For instance, WWRY Fast on The Bowl is missing the third verse. Why not simply leave it in? It only adds about another 15 seconds to the song. As well, Get Down Make Love's second verse is cut from the studio version, and to me, it really adds to the song. I can see doing this in the medley, but it really takes away from the experience when a song is cut. Any other thoughts on this? Am I the only one who is dissapointed by this?
Also--the absence of the medley is an interesting note to this show. Was the whole tour like this?
The Hot Space Tour does indeed feature two medleys -
a) there is Now I'm Here/Vocal Improvisation/Dragon Attack/Now I'm Here reprise
b) there is also Now I'm Here/Put Out The Fire/Dragon Attack/Now I'm Here reprise
The medleys stopped in the early 80's in america i think don't forget they had been compling songs for medleys since 1974 so they most probably had enough and wanted to try something different, but they were a good part of a their show no doubt about it.
Also probably their finest moment in front of such a huge audience. Fortunately it was Live Aid that made up their minds to do another tour:)
For some reason they had lost their confidence in how poppularthey were !
