I DO!!! (since 1993) Most Queen Fans hate it, but why?? Because it sounds 80s? .... So what? I think the only forgettable track on AKOM is "Pain is so close to pleasure", but all the other songs are quite good. "Don't Lose Your Head" fits perfect to the Highlander-soundtrack and it really sounds like a film score - very epic. A perfect encore for the next song on the album, "Princes of the Universe" |

I actually really enjoy it. |
KJ 18.01.2005 11:18 |
I like it, not my favourite, but it's OK. The "don't drink and drive the car"-part sounds great! |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 18.01.2005 11:47 |
"Don't loose your head" is one of my all time favourites. I even [kind of slightly] crashed my car once due to alcohol while listening to it (really). :) As for "Pain is so close to pleasure", try the US 12" version, it almost saves the track. Cheers, Ogre- |

yea i love that song "d-lose your head" the whole album is great when listened thru head-phones sounds the best. i aint heard the 12" usa version...hmmmm |

Peter, some fans hates all songs from 'AKOM' even! I can't see any obvious reasons for it. I like DLYH |
bigc 18.01.2005 15:00 |
I do too! Freddie's vocals are very powerful "Hear What I say!" |

Cheers, Ogre-is that the ever so slighty extended mix?(not the 5 minute one). if it is...and you have it..could you possibly send it to me?(sorry to ask!) |

'Don't Lose Your Head' is the weakest song on the album. Underneath all the crappy production and generic mid-eighties pop sound on A Kind Of Magic (coincidentally, I prefer the single version of 'Pain Is So Close To Pleasure' over the album version), there really is a great set of songs, but 'Don't Lose Your Head' is probably the worst. Oddly enough, I like 'A Dozen Red Roses For My Darling', which would've been a better inclusion. |

I haven't listened to it properley. |
Zander05 18.01.2005 17:14 |
Like many, I don't really like the lyrics but I like the instruments. Freddie's voice sounds awesome, though. And for the record, I like AKOM :-) |

its one of my faves! i love it its typical roger taylor, love joan armatradings trade offs too |
kerfuffle87 18.01.2005 18:13 |

Brian_Mays_Wig 18.01.2005 18:22 |
I went through a phase a couple of years back where it was the only song I played im my car, I actually love it! Nice n loud. |
RohemianBapsody 18.01.2005 18:47 |
I personally don't like it. I thnk it is too repetetive. |
Arnaldo "Ogre-" Silveira 18.01.2005 19:00 |
Hey, bigc! Nevermind, asking is ok! By the way, I don't know what's with people down here, that they hate anybody who asks for something. I would certainly hand it out to you, but I've just moved in with my wife and most of my CDs are back at my parents'. That is one of them. If you don't get it untill the weekend, please let me know, and I'll get it there for you. My e-mail is: arnaldosilveiraATuolDOTcomDOTbr (replace the "DOT" thing with dots and "AT" with the @ simbol). Cheers, Ogre- |

I especially enjoy the 'breathalyzer' part. |
FairyKing 18.01.2005 23:55 |
well...i don't dislike it...but it's surely not one of my favourites. It sounds a bit like a filler. Repetetive lyrics...yep great voice but Freddie could make a poor song great with his voice. my faves from AKOM are Gimme the prize, Princes of the universe, one year of love and who wants to live forever. Yes, and i also think that 'a dozen red roses for my darling' sounds better than 'don't love your head'. more emphatic i think |
Monte: Liquorice Years 19.01.2005 00:18 |
i love that song!! but is it a man or women singing the "chorus" parts? it sounds like a man, but its name is joan or something....strange |
ryancoke 19.01.2005 00:26 |
You noticed that too, huh? I for one really like it, but I know of a couple of people who don't like it very much or at all. |
JohnC 19.01.2005 01:09 |
Like somebody said, it sounds a little bit like a filler. The lyrics are pretty poor and don't really mean much. But the music is quite good. |
newcastle 86! 16483 19.01.2005 07:25 |
yeah monte the trade offs were done by joan armatrading unusual for a queen song but it works i think! |
7Innuendo7 19.01.2005 07:32 |
Agree w/TQ, "A Dozen Red Roses" is a much stronger track, but I like "Don't Lose Your Head" too. I'd keep the instrumental but replace some of the keyboard parts with Brian's guitar licks. |
Benja 19.01.2005 17:41 |
Cool song, i like it a lot |
lyricalassasin77 19.01.2005 21:04 |
Very good song. I agree with the others who fancy the "Don't drink and drive the cup, don't get breathalyzed, don't loose your Heeeead" It has a good beat and is played at the right time in the movie........Peace |
opera39 20.01.2005 00:24 |
I like this song, one of my faves on the AKOM album. I've never heard the extended version though. |
mike hunt 20.01.2005 00:36 |
decent song, good album. freds voice is the strong point of every on "magic". |
Leech 20.01.2005 05:52 |
It's only a filler song, but I like it The same could be applied to Ride the Wild wind. |
Rotwang 20.01.2005 11:41 |
It's a cool song but they should have mixed ASRRFMYD with DLYH like have the Dozen intro or something. I just might make my own mix now that I think about it. |
INXS 20.01.2005 21:46 |
I've always liked it |
Sicmot 20.01.2005 22:54 |
I do |

KEVPAR 21.01.2005 09:59 |
I love that song! :-D Kev x |
Freddie-B 22.01.2005 10:23 |
I hate it, next to Calling All Girls it is the most uninspired tripe in the Queen catalogue, I think. Although Calling All Girls is much worse. but Don't Lose Your Head, it's just naff. |
AlexRocks 22.01.2005 14:51 |
It has been years since I have heard it but I liked it when I did! |
newcastle 86! 16483 22.01.2005 19:12 |
yeah the whole "magic" album was very much geared round freddies voice and it sounds great. i think david richards was a little scared of freddies whole persona. thus the mix itself was poor especially on the "rock" tracks very poor mixing on "princes" and others but it was 100% on the works |
The Fairy King 23.01.2005 09:49 |
it's ADRRFMD link :P |
Whatinthewhatthe? 23.01.2005 19:05 |
Percussion's great, adding Joan Armatrading was brill. The song sounds edgy and urgent, good lead-off into Princes Of The Universe. |

I like it very much.It has a very nice chord progression imo.And I like the sound of the drums. Not a filler imo. |
