>Rodgers "officially at Queen school," studying the Queen catalogue, might yet be seen "trading vocals with a video image of Freddie" on Bo Rhap.
SERIOUSLY I hope that this is nothing more than stupidity on the part of Rollings Stone, but there's something telling me that they might just try this out in the interests of "keeping Freddie in our minds".
Let's hope not..........
Yes it would be very shitty indeed.
A nod and a wink now again to the Fred would be perfect. I.e in days of our lives but no nothing elaborate. It will just look crass
I'm sure Brian and Roger will have moved on. They are aware of the fact that this is not a Queen concert as we remember them. They've decided to call themselves Queen + Paul Rodgers and that's what it is (Queen's music that is). I fully agree to that.
And believe me, it would be a great thing if for let's say one song they will bring back the memory of Freddie Mercury - and of course the much appreciated mr. John Deacon as well.
It could be terribly cheesy or not. Honestly, I'd have to see it for myself to come to a conclusion. But even if they do go that route, it could be worse. Several years ago, Elvis Presley's old band and back-up singers toured, performing live to pre-recorded Elvis on video - for the ENTIRE SHOW. Which to me (no offense, Elvis fans) seems crazy.
As far as overtly evoking Freddie's memory on the new tour, I'd think it would be fun if the shows started with the "One Vision" intro, as on the Magic Tour, but with audio of Freddie from the Magic Years doc - the bit where he says "God works in mysterious ways ... and hey, people ... around the world ... I look forward to those glorious days once again!", followed immediately by the band kicking off into the fast version of "We Will Rock You" or "Tie Your Mother Down".
And if they don't do an acoustic "Love of My Life", with a nod to Freddie, as Brian did on his solo tours, I'll be a little disappointed. But not much. I really don't care what they do, as long as I get to see them. Everything good beyond that is gravy to me.
God really works in mysterious ways...
the day after Queen and Paul Rodgers perform in Rotterdam in Ahoy, there will be this Elvis The Concert... so they are still touring with this show.
