Just a quick note to let you know about the update of my site - last week I uploaded the new version of the site, today I uploaded the rest (forum, ecards, quiz). Everything should be working. It took me literally months to convert all the content into a sql database - which is something you will hardly appreciate but it should make my work simplier (and I'm sure it's the first database of Queen concerts - of this size and format; Greg's Excel files can hardly count :-) All data can be accessed/filtered easily now.
What's new - a small quiz, a huge filter which should help you find anything you need to know, concert details (so ticket + recording + story = everything on one place) and a new design (with more graphics).
What should be done - I'll probably slightly change the graphical layout (some parts are slow in Internet Explorer) and I will update the database with support bands and line-ups.
Looks like with the forthcoming tour more and more visitors come... I've almost reached an average of 1000 unique visitors every day which is nice. I'm online most of the time so just like Thomas Zeidler's site or Queenzone, also QueenConcerts will be updated with info about the 2005 tour immediately after I get it.
Now, what SHOULD happen here is that QPL look at this and think yes, here's a site that actually looks to inform regarding the history of the band and then offer to hot the site for you through QOL. There's no way anyone in QPL would nbe able to construct anything like it and, to me, it would be highly embarassing to have a resorce available that isn't, in some way, official.
You may of course turn the offer down (which I hope you would do), but it certainly wouldn't hurt them to ask, would it?
Have you considered scanning conert reports from newspapers / magazines and adding them to each date?
This search engine is simply awesome. I don't think I ever saw something like it on any other private website (or many corporate websites, for that matter) and I cannot imagine the amount of work you put into it. Your website is really unrivalled and you can be proud of it - not that you need me to tell you that:)
As I told you when you just uploaded the new version, amazing. And the fact it's faster does make a big difference especially after a while, when you do note it's been improved respect the previous one.
Thanks very much to all...
"Have you considered scanning conert reports from newspapers / magazines and adding them to each date"
I will be adding concert photos to each date (this will be done hopefully within a few weeks). Not sure about newspaper articles... I have plenty of them but it takes too much time to scan them (they're in huge scrapbooks so the only way to make a scan is to make a photo with digital camera :-)
Btw. when I moved the content into a database, I found and corrected plenty of mistakes (mostly names of venues)... it will be a long way before everything is 100% correct.
