I think theres little chance of people bootleging them as Brian in particular is very anti-bootlegs. When he appeared with Roger in Wolverhampton in 99 they ensured there were strict checks on everyone entering the venue for recording equipment. Although a poor quality bootleg did surface... |

I'm guessing that 'Wembley Pavillion' is the new name for the Arena/Empire pool. If this is correct, then its a poor choice for a London venue, being difficult to access (for people travelling a fair distance) and being famous for its lack ot atmostphere and apalling acoustics (so I'm told). Despite Wembley being 5 minutes away on the train from where I am, I'd have preferred the Docklands Arena (other side of London, but with surprisingly good acoustics for an Arena), or even the Albert Hall. |

Barb - £49.50 / £39.50 some Manchester tickets £29.50. Rather jolly expensive. I thought Pavillion was the name of the new thing they have open there. I though Arena closed down recently for refurbishment like Wembley itself. |

And £40-£50 is really pushing it. |

Sounds too cheap to me. The higher the prices, the less riff raff will attend. If you're reading this Brian please double the ticket prices to keep the brats out. Chin, chin old boy. |

Wembley's not too bad for sound, well it wasn't in 85 alot of this about prices and locations is pure speculation nothing has been decided in the uk except Brixton. The final decision is going to based on ticket sales in Europe. |

Eggy is correct. |

Is that not closer? I was hoping that Sheffield Hallam meant the Uni cos that's where I work and I was hoping for some sort of perk to get tickets, but sadly no. |

To clear up confusion on Wembley Arena Pavillion here is a direct link to the official site. Capacity is 10,000. A seating plan can also be found here. link |

"I think theres little chance of people bootleging them as Brian in particular is very anti-bootlegs." Except that he collects all kinds of Queen bootlegs that exist... You call it "poor", I call it "excellent minus"... |

"I think theres little chance of people bootleging them as Brian in particular is very anti-bootlegs." Except that he collects all kinds of Queen bootlegs that exist... Well, thats strange as he is against people bootleging his gigs. He might be interested in old Queen Vinyl & CD bootlegs... thats a different thing surely. "When he appeared with Roger in Wolverhampton in 99 they ensured there were strict checks on everyone entering the venue for recording equipment. Although a poor quality bootleg did surface..." You call it "poor", I call it "excellent minus"... The fact that the recording has no definition, has little or no low end and was recorded using the "standard setting" on a minidisc recorder, meaning that the middle frequencies sound overly compressed and the drums/vocals often clip (I say the middle frequencies, as it sounds like it was recorded using low quality mics and having crap frequency responce) |
Benn 18.01.2005 05:54 |
> Well, thats strange as he is against people bootleging his gigs. He might be interested in old Queen Vinyl & CD bootlegs... thats a different thing surely. So, you're saying that Brian is "happy" for people to boot Queen shows, but "against" people bootlegging his solo shows? I find it hard to believe that a man as intelligent as Brian would be THAT hypocritical. I would suggest that what you are saying there is complete rubbish. > The fact that the recording has no definition, has little or no low end and was recorded using the "standard setting" on a minidisc recorder, meaning that the middle frequencies sound overly compressed and the drums/vocals often clip (I say the middle frequencies, as it sounds like it was recorded using low quality mics and having crap frequency responce). Fair enough summation of what that bootleg actually is, but then sound quality is "completely" subjective where bootlegs are concerned - in fact, it's subjective regardless of the performance. Taking someone to task over the quality of an audience recording is just not really on. You might not be able to listen to it, but someone else may well be perfectly happy with it as their tolerance level is that much higher. If you're that unhappy with it, why did you buy it in the first place - did you not request to hear it first? |
Negative Creep 18.01.2005 06:06 |
Since when was that message aimed at you? I would suggest that most of what you have to say is total bollocks aswell. If Brian was so pro-bootlegs why does he ensure there are checks at all his gigs, and why the fanclub refuses to comment on them? IF he does collect Queen bootlegs he will be collecting them for their collectability (ie, proper bootlegs,. not home made CDRs), which is slightly different to supporitng active bootlegging. The Roger Taylor Wolverhampton recording is poor by bootleg standards... end of story. All the Roger Taylor Electric Fire tour recordings are crap as theyre recorded by fans on MD recorders which are hardly renowned for their quality and they didn't know what they were doing. |
Benn 18.01.2005 07:30 |
> Since when was that message aimed at you? I didn't say that it WAS aimed at me - I just thought I'd ann my two-pennorth... > I would suggest that most of what you have to say is total bollocks aswell. I don't see too many other people disagreeing.... > If Brian was so pro-bootlegs why does he ensure there are checks at all his gigs, BRIAN doesn't ensure the checks (he just turns up and plays) - it is the venue / promotor / management that ensure that copyright isn't breached. Brian couldn't care less and would probably do what Page / Plant did and allow taping to openly happen. the fact is that his solo shows have relied so heavily on Queen material that it's the Queen side of things that prevents Brian taking a stand. > and why the fanclub refuses to comment on them? They have their hands tied by QPL who consistently ignore their existance > IF he does collect Queen bootlegs he will be collecting them for their collectability (ie, proper bootlegs,. not home made CDRs), which is slightly different to supporitng active bootlegging. How different? If a home-made CD-r exists that hasn't bee factory-pressed or is in better packaging / sound quality, why wouldn't he collect that? > The Roger Taylor Wolverhampton recording is poor by bootleg standards... end of story. All the Roger Taylor Electric Fire tour recordings are crap as theyre recorded by fans on MD recorders which are hardly renowned for their quality and they didn't know what they were doing. In your opinion...... |
