All too true.
"Rocks" sucked...i'm sorry, but i always saw it as a cash in and a lame excuse to release a "album".
Everyone bought it because it had the ONE new track (No One But You)....we already all had everything else on it multiple times over!! "NOBY" should have just been issued as a single..but then of course, the record company would'nt be able to sell it as much as a "full" album.
I really hate "stupid" compilations like this.
And the album cover art was a joke....horrible and in very bad taste i thought.
That huge-beaked Phoenix looked like Big Bird on acid!!
Oh Jeez, don't tell me they're gonna reissue it with a Paul Rodgers-sung track or something. That would be even worse!
But yeah it always was a terrible compilation tho it wouldn't surprise me if it was greedy-guts Brian who suggested it in the first place - he has 10 credited songs on there, plus three that he originally wrote and credited to Queen.
Was No One But You issued before the album or after?
"No-One But You" was released in the UK after the "Queen Rocks" album.
And there's nothing wrong with "Queen Rocks". Its perfectly listenable and no-one had a gun to their head forcing them to buy it. Anyone so cartoonishly opposed to buying a compilation album assumed to have been masterminded by a "greedy guts" could have just waited for the single if they were that hot to have it (a single also written by the alleged "greedy guts" they apparently despise so much).
Its just a fuckin' record, people. Its not a plot.
well I stand by the fact that 13 our of 18 songs on a compilation all written by one member of the group is a seriously suspect concept. I bet you Freddie would not have allowed Queen Rocks in his lifetime.
I agree with you, kleinhond! Because the guy who wrote most of the "hard" rock songs in Queen was ..... surprise, surprise ... Brian May. Its really just a rip off to make some money.
Whine whine whine
The damn thing was released over 7 years ago and people are still bitching about it. Deep breath, folks. Water long since gone under the bridge.
If you didn't like it, don't buy the fuckin' thing. Like they needed the money anyway.
Yes.... its rather strange how theyre pretty much ALL Brians tracks. Then they had the cheek to then issue a 2nd sleeve hoping fans would buy both. QPL aren't exactly known for their quality product are they? Look at the balls up that are the GVHs DVDs - they just want the money.
