Got this album for Christmas (didn't ask for it mind) previously I had thought them to be a NME covers band. You know like The White Stripes a load of hype.
How wrong I was! Listening to it on the train to work its fucking mega. Every song is fantastic. 'Music When The Lights Go Out', 'What Katie Did', 'Can't Stand Me Now, 'The Likely Lads'. All classics. It'll probably go all pear-shaped now because smack/crack/dope* head Pete Doherty has left the band.

I love them!
I haven't heard the new album but their last one "Up The Bracket" is one of my all time favourites.
No wonder! They worked with Clash guitar hero Mick Jones so it can't be anything else but good!
It's a shame that Pete can't stay away from drugs. Unfortunately I don't see the band going anywhere right now because their lead singer's fucking them up.
sorry to be picky sonja, but how can their last one be one of your all-time faves?
this is what's wrong with music polls - they are too biased towards recent music
if it's still one of your faves when it's three years old then that's different - but for heavens' sake!!! give it a couple of years for you to grow tired of it before declaring it an "all-time" fave
My faith has been restored. You have to get The Libertines (album)
I was one of the 'lucky' people who saw Babyshambles at Blackpool. Pete Doherty ambled on stage about 10 to twelve, we'd been there since 9 and slurred, cursed through a 30 minute set. No Libertines songs just his new ones.

I didn't mean the last one - most recent one, I was talking about their FIRST one and it IS about 3 years old!
And I think it's up to me what I call my "All time favourites".
I hardly ever listen to recent music, 3/4 of my cd collection is 60's, 70's and 80's so I can tell what of the new stuff I think is good and what not!
Why are you judging me anyway?
Well after reading your review and further deliberation between myself and err, myself I think I shall go out and spend my hard earned sterling on this CD. You seem to be a man of good taste (PNE aside of course :p) so I shall have a listen. If it's shite I demand full compensation. Only jesting, I'll just use it as a coaster if all goes to shit
