i really love this song. i know it is credited to roger, but i always thought it sounded like a song that john would write. it has the same type of beat that most of his songs have and the lyrics apply to him. to me it dosen't sound like something that roger would write, though he might well have.
any thoughts?
If you listen to the Cross track "Final Destination", I am sure that you can hear Roger hum the melody of "These Are The Days Of Our Lives" towards the end.
The song is a ballad, very simple, in a way Roger hadn't quite done before in Queen, but he had done some of those in his solo albums and The Cross. The harmony (six diatonic chords plus bVII) is very basic for the standard of any of the four, I agree that it's something John used to do a little more often (e.g. My Life Has Been Saved, One Year Of Love), but it doesn't point neccesarily to him. Roger in The Cross and some solo albums wrote a couple of tracks with similar harmony (e.g. Happiness).
I have always wondered if he wrote it about freddie or something about his life, meaning he would rather be younger again then to be a rock star maybe? ^ ^

Ain't that the melody of Final Destination? I mean, you can sing "you must be my destination" to it. Although it is possible to sing "These are the days of our lives" with it. Is it a coincidence or was it his inspiration for Days of Our lives?

i totaly agree, very emotional... beautiful song tho.
i know its a taylor track but i thought it seemed more like a mercury composition, i.e take my breath away and so on.
