Yep...told you lot Boston was a huge Queen city...
I was stunned to see recently a news story on our local News regarding Queen...and not just Queen, but a story covering the WWRY Charity Night with Brian and Roger! (eyes pop)!
I was surprised to see this getting coverage here...even for Boston! Basically it was a neat little brief story about how Brian is organizing a show (WWRY London, January 12th) to help raise money for the Tusnami tragety. As the newsperson was relaying the story, on flashes some nice images of Brian and Roger...most likely from the Vegas Premiere late last year. WOW!!!
Very nice to see that...exspecially over here Stateside where anything Queen related is hard to come by.
Thought you would all enjoy hearing about this...
Has anyone else who lives in the USA seen any coverage or news stories about this?
I live in Los Angeles, CA and one of my friends said she heard something about the WWRY Charity Night on the radio today. I've also been hearing comments about the Queen + Paul Rodgers tour every so often. They aren't always positive, but it's still great to hear some coverage here in the US.
I live right near Boston!!!!
Anyhow, I remember during the end of summer hearing Brian May on the radio (for the first time ever..I miss out everything over here) and I was disapointed that it was only for 5 minutes after waiting HOURS for this (they did not say what time..they just said sometime that afternoon..so I was waiting and waiting), but he said that they were going to be looking at places next year (which is this year now) in Boston for WWRY cos they are definately going to bring it to Boston (even though that may take a while).
Great to hear that news Gunpowder and Killer Queen....it is indeed a grand day when Queen news gets on Statesdie airwaves. Local Classic Rock radio here has been talking about the tour too...the dj's are all excited about the prospect..even Paul Rogers!
Yes, Brian has never forgotten the fact that it was BOSTON that was the first US city to break for Queen way back at the beginning....1973 with KYA. It was heavily played here on local stations, when most of the rest of the country had no clue.
I am certain that WWRY will indeed be here eventually...it HAS to play here as it's the only major East Coast city left now that NY is out of the picture.
I see it playing the Opera House (wonderful place to have it) or perhaps the Wang Theatre.
Who could forget THAT??!!
What a DAY...for those not in the know, the mayor of the city of Boston declared the date as "Queen Day" and the city celebrated it as just that. The Band were in town for what would turn out to be the last time we would ever see Queen live here. Boston had a "Queen Day" a good 20 years before Vegas' mayor copied the idea for the WWRY Premiere date!
"There can only be ONE...."
It makes me proud to live in Massachusetts! Bring WWRY to Boston! Then play the FleetCenter with Paul. Well, maybe something smaller than the Fleet.....
