Now, here's a novel idea:
Why not ensure that, for the price above that normally charged for a ticket, everyone attending the show is given a flyer on the door (or with their ticket) that allows them to apply for an official desk recording of that night's gig?
The CD's could be created with the standard copy-protection to ensure that they are not booted and would serve as a far more satisfying memento of the night.
If that was the justification for the high ticket price, then I would certainly go.
It's a fans dream - a bootleg in perfect quality of every gig they go to - unfortunetly not going to happen.
Prince did give a free CD to people who went to his gigs in the States all summer.
For some reason if you give them away at gigs it counts as sales of the CD. So his Musicology album did way better in the billboard charts than it deserves to, because in my opinion, its a pile of poo poo!!
The Who did it on every show from both the 2002 and 2004 tours - all profits donated to charity. Each at a cost of £15 and tickets were roughly £40.
So, with the Brixton show costing £60, the recording could be made available free with proof of having attended the show.
It won't happen, simply because QPLdon't have the imagination.
Never The Bride did a gig recently where for a ticket price of £20 you got both a DVD and a CD of the show sent to you. Thunder have also done a similar thing, so it could be done quite easily. I think that it's a brilliant idea, and maybe if it's suggested then it might happen. After all Brian did talk about a new album.
(I doubt that it will happen, but it doesn't hurt to try)
Daniel
Oh, believe me, it's been suggested, but sadly has been ignored by a certain organisation that shall remain nameless, but has the letters L, P & Q in it's name.
This is a nice idea....but i seriously doubt they will bother.
Why would they? They KNOW the Fans WILL pay the ticket amount...and then these same Fans will go out and BUY whatever product(s) are released after the Tour...like the discs mentioned!
They are a business, and as such need to make a fair income to keep going.
I am a firm beleiver though that the Brixton ticket holders will make out with some sort of add-on benefit the night of the show. Wether it be a slew of onstage guest performers, or some nice giveaway souveniers, i'm sure there is something in the pipeline.
In fact, you can count on it!
My guess is the only extra you'll get is someones pint of Carling down your back as they go mental to Tie Your Mother Down or something.
I'd hope they would play a bit more album tracks for the Fan Club members too. You would like to think so anyway.
No, you would think that they are using the show as a chance to get Paul accustomed to the audience / material - they certainly won't be filling the set list with rarities. It'll be standard Greatest Hits stuff....
