So Queen are going on tour. To be exact, Brian, Roger and three other musicians are going on tour. "Queen" are here equal to only half of the original band but that's fine with me, I'm still really looking forward to the concerts.
But what if Roger falls ill just a few days before the tour and Eric Singer replaces him for the tour? Will they still be called Queen? I'm sure they will. Will such a major change in the line-up be a reason to get my money back?
If we go to extremes, if Brian falls ill too and the band will therefore be Rodgers + Singer + Moses + Edney + Dorsey... will it still be Queen?
Where is the border when they're not "Queen" anymore?
Queen are Brian and Roger. If one of them gets ill, the tour/concert will be cancelled. Since the tour is labelled Queen + Paul Rodgers it will most likely also be cancelled if PR should get ill.

No, they'd just get Robbie in. He was "desperate", wasn't he? ;-P
There are lots of bands touring at the moment with only one original member, but still they tour under the name that made them famous, the name that everybody knows.
> Everybody left Guns'n'Roses and was replaced, except Axl. And it's still called Guns'n'Roses.
Yeah, I do agree. People have pointed this out to me. But the fact that Freddie was such a huge character and part of the band, it seems wierd that you can have a Queen without him.
Can you have a Guns N Roses without Slash? Who knows...
What I do know, is that Thin Lizzy are touring this year, without Phil Lynott! Infact, I think theres only one of the original guitarists left, Scott Gorham I think.
I don't know and I don't care anymore. If they come near here, I'll try and get to see them. If not, I'm not bothered...
I guess Queen is just the name of the official tribute band.
I personally wouldn't be surprised if they add Spike to the official line-up. In a way... he deserves it, has been playing with the two jerks for 20 years, the same as Freddie & John did.
Queen are Freddie, Brian, John & Roger. simple as that. Anything less than that is less, in my view.

I agree that with Spike in the line-up, things might get a bit comfortable with us fans.
And if Ratty can join in the fray, just for old time's sake, that'd be good too.

I think if either Brian or Roger was to fall ill they would have to cancel the concerts. I mean you can't possibly have a Queen tour without Brian or Roger can you?
I would have to agree with you Mr. Joe Satriani. They would just cancel. Or Eric Singer can just wear Roger Taylor mask (like whats he's doing in KISS)
BTW, I caught the g3 tour here. It was awesome except for Joe Satriani. I much prefer the ways of Steve Vai , Billy Sheehan, and Tony MacAlpine. Even Yngwie was way more entertaining.

If you can have Queen without Freddie or John, then of course you can have Queen without Brian or Roger.

Oh of course you can't. Queen probably couldn't even be Queen + without Bri or Roger.
The New Queen is Roger Taylor & Brian May. Why would they want to let John Deacon back in and split the money? They'll sell the same amount of tickets regardless of Deacon John.

They've invited John on tour with them or so i've heard.
don't forget the 'the who,' they were every bit as large as queen, and they only have two orginal members, their recording a new album and plus playing live.
> they're recording a new album...
Which has been put on indefinate hold until such time as Pete can take his attentions away from completing his autobiography. Rumor abounds that he handed the project over to Roger to finish off with producer Simon Townshend, but we realy won't see anything from this until Pete is ready.
Those who thinks it's not Queen anymore, should really go to one of the concerts..
It is very different, I agree.. but still an awesome experience, worth every cent of the ticket!
The guys are in great shape and Paul Rodgers has his own personality and attitude, he doesn't try to look or sing like Freddie.. this is the key.
You see Queen+Paul Rodgers.. and it's a great combo, if you ask me.
