I think this is a though topic because hardly any band has covered a Queen as it should have been. These days you can hear a version of Radio Gaga, I really don´t know the name of the band but I think it´s a good version. No coments about We will rock you by Five it really sucks!! We are the champions by Robbie Williams isn´t a good one but I have to say it isn´t a bad one... ok I hear coments!! |

I'm alone with this opinion, I know. I find Wyclef Jean's version of AOBTD very good. Five doing WWRY wasn't that bad either. |

Worst was the BoRhap cover by some hair band. |
Sebastian 07.01.2005 16:06 |
Best - Elaine Paige versions (only for musical fans), and Yngwie's Keep Yourself Alive. I see to remember there's Tie Your mother Down by Motorhead or something like that... anyway I remember listening to a very good one. Valensia's Liar is awesome as well as Robbie Valentine's Bijou (with piano instead of synths). Worst - imho, the slow Hammer To Fall by Brian & Roger, and the Weird Al Yankovic things |

God, everytime I hear AOBTD now, when it goes "hey! are you ready for this, are you standing on the edge of your seat" it reminds me of Wyclef Jean's version because it repeats it. How did that get to number one, or whatever it got to???!!! |

I like Roger's live version of We Will Rock You! |

I like Weird Al's parody: Another one Rides the Bus! But no seriously, this band who I never heard of called Extreme did Love of My Life and it was GORGEOUS. It was done on acoustic but was the EXACT part as the piano. Better than the live acoustic part IMO. |

Agneepath! wrote:I really loved the Nuther one bites the dust cover. that was just soo cool and funky. I loved the little remix on Gh3 for under pressure but thats not a cover. Five did an ok job at WWRY but i suppose it didnt do much good since they split up. I honestly cant stand the Britney, Beyonce and Pink version of WWRY. That just gets really annoying now..Whisperer wrote: I'm alone with this opinion, I know. I find Wyclef Jean's version of AOBTD very good. Yes Extreme's version is fantastic, it goes to the top of my list now! Weird Al - His 'Fat' gimmick is funny, as well as the Yoda thing and the Jurassic Park video, but AOBTD with accordeon... it just doesn't grow on me. |

Turning it around now, i think Freddie's version of "i can hear music" was dreadful... just joking i really like that song. I hate the 5ive's we will rock you because the reason i like that song in the first place is because of Freddie's vocals. Robbie Williams' we are the champions is alright but has anyone noticed that when he sings the line "You brought me fame and fortune and everything that goes with" he sounds kinda wierd? I noticed and it annoys me every time i hear it. |

i don't really like any versions of queen songs, they are all pretty bad, except george michael's version of somebody to love, that is excellent. i think that the other people who cover queen songs, especially robbie williams, just show how good queen are/were and how superior freddie's voice was. |

Best covers: A Kind Of Magic (Gary Mullen), Worst: AOBTD (Wyejeancleaf or whatever it's called i just can't stand that version aghhh) Flash (Vanguard), WWRY (Five) |
Queen& 08.01.2005 09:55 |
we will rock you {live} by robbie wiiliams wos 100 times better than the one five did that was waste of time.innuendo at the freddie tribute was also terible |

the singer from Built To Spill (can't remember his name at the moment) does a solo accoustic version of You're My Best Friend in his live set. it's quite nice actually. i have various versions of under pressure that range from nice to terrible, but nothing gets close to the chemistry of bowie/queen. that's my favorite song from BOTH groups/artists. i also have a interesting (if you are into punk and indie rock) cover record called "Dynamite With A Laserbeam". all queen covers (and some super obscure ones) by artists of this one small california record label. some are prety damn good, some are just crap, and a few are totally bewildering. once i was home for the holidays and dad (who always maintains he hates queen) was playing an opera version of Who Wants to Live For Ever. he had no idea, and didnt believe me that it was a queen song, until i pulled out the cd case and showed him! |

My favourite is BoRap by Bad News, especially the rock bit as it sounds heavier. |

Know what the worst is? Dwight Yokum's CLTCL. that's soooooo country! |

The Scorpions doing 'Love of My Life' was pretty cool. I have it on a live cd, I don't think it was ever recorded in the studio. It's not my favorite cover but it's a good one that hasn't been mentioned yet. |

Bohemian Rhapsody by The Braids - TERRIBLE! I like the 'Weird Al' stuff a lot, really. Metallica's SCC wasn't bad either. I don't know how you call AOBtD w/Wyclef a cover, Ice Ice Baby wasn't a cover. They are samples - one more than the other. Am I wrong? The fact that the names are the same shouldn't cloud the idea. |
good old fashioned lovergirl 11.01.2005 15:59 |
In my opinion the best cover of a Queen song is definately extreme's version of love of my life(the b side to more than words-i love that song) |
