In a ZDF charity show tonight Michael Schuhmacher's manager announced that the F1 world champion donated 10 Million US dollars for the ZDF aid initiative in favour of the victims of the Tsunami disaster. This must be the highest individual donation and makes the big companies look cheap. In the same show the German WWRY musical cast donated 150 000 euros - well done, guys. |

Nice one. Ofcourse he earns 80 million on a yearly basis, but still more generous than most countries have been so far. Think I might cheer for him next year. :) |

The Canadian government is going to match every dollar donated by our population... I pray it is more than that 10 million! |
The Mir@cle 05.01.2005 07:21 |
What a jurk... Donating only 10 million while he's one of the richest people on earth (-; |
Banshee 05.01.2005 09:20 |
That last post made me wonder. I wonder if Bill Gates will match Michaels donation. |
The Mir@cle 05.01.2005 09:29 |
Bill already gave half of his money to a charity organizations, but he has still enough to donate I think. |
The Fairy King 05.01.2005 09:31 |

I think more celebrities should follow suit, rather than us poorer people digging into out pockets all the time. Good on you, Michael. |

As long as you can buy new cars, pay for the internet, buy cd's/computergames/DVD's, etc., you've got excess money and can spare a few Pounds, Euro's, Dollars. But that's the communist in me talking. ;) Ofcourse we all give what we can miss. Wether that's €5,= or like Michael €10 million. |

My school's student union (which I'm part of, btw.) is raising money through cash donations from students, teachers and staff to donate to the Canadian Red Cross. Our goal is to raise $1500 CDN (roughly $1225 US), which is a lot to us (and that would be if EVERY student and staff donated just $1 each too!). My good friend Michael donated $5 towards this fundraiser today. I helped out with getting the fundraising campaign ready; I handwritten names on 66 envelopes and stapled them each afterwards with the letters of appeal (I was also going to type up the letter that went with them, but the person I was helping did that for me) - all this done yesterday! Unfortunately, having lost my job just recently, I'm unfortunately not able to contribute towards the funds (even though I DID suggest to Student Union that our upcoming Battle Of The Bands competition should raise money towards this cause; they said no to the idea) |
