Well, the topic pretty much says it all.
Yes, this is my first message, so you (know it all souls) can judge it as the silliest question ever, but the fact is I´ve only listened to Paul´s performance with Queen and one song from his web.
Could he reach the highest notes from Somebody to love (George Michael level is enough for me)? Does he play the piano?
Can he sing with a powerful, 'broken' voice Princess Of the Universe? Etc.
Well, any word of wisdom you add will be appreciated.
By the way, my name´s Rubén and I´m a Spanish Queen fan.
The funny thing is that the vocal line on somebody to love isn't that hard as you might think!
I've heard instead Paul Rodgers sing the high vocal parts on we are the champions and beleive me, those are really, really difficult to reach!
If you remember well, it was roger's role to sing that parts on stage during the past tours, not freddie's.
Another very difficult song might be for example Under pressure, or Radio ga ga but not somebody to love. That is just a simple song in G!!!
With your question you imply that PR should try to copy Freddie's vocal performance which will sure not happen. He will perform Queen songs and his own material in his own style.
in fact, very often, Freddie did not reach highest notes of songs. For sure, Paul cannot imitate Freddie, but his singing is one of the finest in rock history. Paul's voice is soft, bluesy and souly - but also very rough and hard rock if it is needed. Listen to very Rodgers-like opening in "we are the champions" from link
And yes, Roger can play piano (also Guitar from what i've heard). But I think someone behind the stage will play the piano (maybe Spike Edney or Mike Moran).
