FM TRIBUTE ORGANIZER'S TSUNAMI CONCERT
According to CBC ARTS NEWS, bosses at the U.K.'s Millennium Stadium, in Cardiff, Wales, are attempting to organize a Live Aid-style concert to raise money for the victims of last week's Asian tsunami disaster. Paul Sergeant, general manager of the stadium, hopes to host a charity concert the weekend of Jan 22-23 and to raise a million pounds for a tsunami relief fund. Although too early to name artists, Seargeant said that organizers had "been chasing a strong list of A-list acts to see if they would be willing to take part."
During a previous stint as manager at Wembley Stadium, Sergeant organized the Freddie Mercury Tribute Concert for AIDS Awareness and a concert for Amnesty International. Each event took about a month to pull together.
Elsewhere - Cliff Richard, Boy George, Olivia Newton-John and Barry Gibb of the Bee Gees are reportedly among those approached to record Grief Never Grows Old, a sad ballad written by radio DJ Mike Read, which it is hoped will be recorded and mixed this week and out in stores quickly - all funds from the single to go to the Disasters Emergency Committee.

Interesting news... Maybe Queen + Rodgers get involved?? I think It's a good opportunity to do something for the people in Asia and at the same time it can be promotion for the coming tour.
I heard that some of the bands that might be on the event are U2, Coldplay and The Darkness.
I also read about the charity single. Mike Read said " It's a natural home for it, because people keep saying to me it's such a good song, but it's such a sad song."
I don't know about sad song its a shite song I heard Mike Read's version this morning. I, of course hope it raises millions. I'd pay £4.99 not to hear it if that helps.

Great news...I wish I could go to that concert... :(
That song is fucking awful - you feel like slitting your wrists after 30 seconds. I won't be buying it, simply because it's an exercise for an out of work DJ to increase HIS profile.

Great news of a concert-I would love to go. I hope it raises a lot of money.
Believe me - its true what Banquo says, the song is fucking awful. I wont be buying either - I'll just give the money straight to the charities already involved.
Just for you Linda, Mike Read was once a dj with Radio 1 in the eighties, and a tv presenter on such shows as TOTP, Pop Quiz (80's version) and Saturday Superstore.
