Here it is! Step right up! A survival guide for the newbies of queenzone! Just go to my site in my signature and check it out! Everyone is more than welcome to email me with things I could add to it to make it better - and you can also add it to your own Queen site (please let me know you did). This is not a page designed to make fun of anyone - just an effort to bring the hostility down a bit. (also, I apologize if this doesn't belong in the Queen forum for whatever reason) link |

Just one tip from me: Don't annoy anyone! |

That is a very nice gesture to keep countless newbies from being slayed. Good work! |

haha! This is great. |

I think it's quite good, because the topics that you've told the newbies not to ask do tend to come up alot. |
the oppositionist 03.01.2005 10:49 |
Good stuff. I wish someone would put one of those on this site. It should be a link on the front page: -New? Click here- Leads to the newbies questions and answers page and then to signing up. Thus you cant sign up without reading the newbie section! |

Sorry, I had no idea that there was already something posted like this. My brother put me up to posting it, so blame him! |

Why not make people do a Queen quiz before joining. It could ask all the annoying questions, and then if they didn't know they'd have to find out before they could join! |

What's with the slagging of new people anyway? When you get over 500 posts or so you have more rights than others? You can put people down when they say things or ask things you don't like? |
deleted user 04.01.2005 09:06 |
Most Newbies are alright. It's just some annoying ones. And they still tend to be annoying when they are Bohemians... ...so you can't win |

Yeah, it's great! But there's just one thing that annoys me a bit:When I was a newbie, I posted a topic "was Freddie hot?" You asshole... |
Zander05 04.01.2005 16:17 |
I may be an asshole, but... no I think you got me on that one. |
deleted user 04.01.2005 17:25 |
I thought I would keep the guide towards the top of the forum. This should be made a sticky topic, but I dunno how to do that. |

And why the hell not shoot 'em up for asking/saying things we don't like? It's a good way to work on my social skills...Well too bad you've read it 5 times, just skip it then. You know what's worse than newbie-questions? People putting down other people over nothing. Btw, you wanna work on your social skills? Try taking care of the homeless in your spare time. Might actually be more constructive. |

Just read it. Thanks 4 all the warnings. I'll keep them in mind. Oh and it was also very funny |

The thing I love most about this place is it's a better form of therapy than seeing that fucking therapist twice a week.LOL I'll give in. Some people are beyond reason. |

Some of those 'Things not to ask' are questions I would like answers to. Why should I except somebody telling me what I can and cannot talk about in a bloody forum, if the topic is well within the realms of what the forum is all about? If your going to tell people what they can't ask, then at least answer those questions so that there is no need to ask them. But how far do you take it? Clearly your fed up with seeing threads regarding certain things. So what - live with it. If you don't like the topic, don't read it. But do not enforce laws on others because you feel so much more important or knowledgable that you have the right to lay down those laws. Rules such as 'No abusiveness', 'No Topics not related' etc. are good rules. Telling somebody what they can't ask when it's perfectly relevant it rediculous. |

pauld wrote: Dust_biter: Was that aimed at me?Yeah, cos everyone jokes about "these" questions, and you never know when people are being serious and actually want to know the answer. I agree that some questions could do with being answered seriously though! |

I'm catching on. In order to avoid the flamethrowers, the snotty ones, and the foul language users on Queenzone.com, I put their names, alphabetized, on a wordprocessing list I print out and have laying by my computer for quick reference until I remember who they are. So far there are ten. Some of the names have hundreds of posts, and I suppose they post a lot of good things as well, but I will never know. |
Banshee 05.01.2005 15:13 |
LMAO |
Zander05 05.01.2005 17:30 |
OK, because someone asked so ...*ahem* NICELY (did anyone detect the sarcasm?), I have answered all the 'DO NOT POST' questions. I appreciate constructive criticism, feedback, and suggestions. But do not try to chew me out over my public service to newbies who just want to have an enjoyable experience on the forums. |

That's a terrific list. All newbies should read it. One thing, though, that really needs to be added... The Personal board is a terrific place to vent, and oftentimes to find sympathy. (Or, to find crochety oldbies who will tell you horrible stories about how much worse it could be and to quit whining.) This does not, however, mean that we want to know every single aspect of your life/mind. If in doubt, err on the side of caution and don't post it - it'll save you a hell of a lot of hassle. |
