Hello all you dutch Queen fans.Im a man from Norway,i want to learn dutch.I know everybody says,if you can speak Deutch you probaly learn dutch very easily. Is that true?
*cough* Actually Dutch is very similar to German grammarwise... But us lazy Cloggies have forgotten most of our grammar rules over the eons. Some evidence of sophisticated grammar still exists, but we don't practise it anymore.
I tend to think that it'll be much easier to atleast understand Dutch when you know German. I myself am from the north-east of The Netherlands and speak a Dutch dialect with which I can make people understand me all the way to Hamburg. :)
And this dialect, though not being proper Dutch, can also be understood by a lady-friend of mine which lives in Utrecht (a place where they do speak proper Dutch... if proper dutch exists).
So I personally think being able to speak German would be a large benefit for you. But since you're Scandinavian I'd bet you'll get the hang of our language pretty soon. Most of the Scandinavian footballplayers (and we all know footballplayers aren't the brightest) we have had over here learned Dutch within the year. =)

North east??? Where exactly do you come from?? I'm from Wagenborgen, nearby Delfzijl.
Translation for Iam the one:
Noord oost??? Waar (where) kom (come) je (you) precies (exactly) vandaan (from)? Ik kom uit (I'm from) Wagenborgen, vlakbij (nearby) Delfzijl. ;-)
Heh, I live in Meeden. It's between Veendam and Winschoten. So, you're from the shipping company which let's it ships build in Waterhuizen/Westerbroek. ;)

Yeah, sometimes that's confusing, but that's Wagenborg.... We don't have water in Wagenborgen. But I guess I don't have to tell you that. :)
Dutch used the same cases (naamvallen) as in German, but as I said we don't practise them anymore.
You name me one Dutch guy who doesn't understand German. Or the other way around... name 1 German who can't make head or tails of Dutch.
