I started liking the Beatles and buying their CD's after I saw Paul McCartney's "Back to the US" DVD concert. He wasn't using the Beatles name when promoting the tour because he was the only member performing, but on his set most of the songs were Beatles songs and the audience went to see the show just to listen songs such as Let it Be, Hey Jude, Yesterday, etc etc which are Beatles songs. It is an excelent concert and the musicians were awsome as well. Now my point is, it would be totally different if Freddie were alive and decide to go on tour on his own and use the Queen catalog on his concerts, he could do whatever he wanted to 'cause he was the lead singer, frontman and the main composer of Queen. I can picture Freddie in these days going on tour ( if the band weren't together) just like Paul McCartney did. Now, the Brian and Roger thing (I'm sorry about going back to the same subject, just want to give my opinion since I'm a fan) who gives a damn!! for me it would be like a dream come true to actually see some dude playing Queen music, plus not only that, we'll have the honor to see that 'Freddie wannabe' going on tour with the original guitar and drum players of Queen. I thought the WWRY musical in vegas or a tribute band would be the closest I could hear from Queen, but now this thing came up and why not? at least it would be nice to hear Brian playing One Vision, Hammer to Fall, All Dead All Dead, Too Much Love will kill you, etc, so I'm up for it....'Freddie wannabe' + Roger & Brian aka QUEEN.
Yes Paul performs his own compositions, but there are exceptions (Something being one of them). Brian and Roger too performed their own songs that they had written for Queen (Headlong, Days Of Our Lives...) and ocassionally some from the others (Bri did Love Of My Life, Rog did Rockyou, Break Free and Show Must Go On)
One thing that I want to get off my chest. I find it repulsive that some people react in a degrading manner on posts made by other people.
We have social rules in our every-day lives, but somehow people don't bother with them when they are safely behind a computerscreen. It annoys me, and has been annoying me for some time. I don't see where they get the nerve to react in such a manner. In real life, acting this way, you'd probably end up with a pound in the face. And you would have deserved it too.
Ofcourse I sometimes think: "Oh fuck this guy." or "I'm not interested in this blabbering." I then simply press the 'back' button of Explorer and let the topic be. No need to be insulting to someone.
Back to the matter at hand: I too have seen Paul McCartney. I had the privilege to see him on his European tour in 2003. And I too liked the fact he played a lot of Beatles songs (I've never been a great Wings fan), even though the Beatles are gone and 2 of it's former members have died.
So concluding: I totally agree with you about Brian and Roger going on a tour and playing Queen songs. I'd love to see them 2 old....er :) rockers for real.
Well Axl Rose did the same thing a year or so a go now he took the GnR name and went on tour in the US with a whole new band and sang GnR songs, was this just a wanna be GnR band with Axl cos its the same thing as Paul Rogers standing in for Freddie...
The idea of Queen + Paul Rogers (yes thats a PLUS not Paul Rogers the Freddie replacement) going on Tour togerther is a good one, first of all i didnt like the idea but im well up for it now and cant wait to go see them play
