I like his sword. It's not quite as awesome as the sword in "Berserk", But it's pretty cool. |
inu-liger 30.12.2004 16:40 |
Ah yeah!* That sword is called the Tetsusaiga, also spelled Tessaiga by some people (there is still on-going debates in the IY anime circles as to how it's spelled correctly! It's all because of the kanji used in the Japanese show and manga to spell the name of the sword!) *No Charles Bear pun intended |

Who do you like better, Kagome,or Kikyo? |
VGB 08.01.2005 22:29 |
I've got to about episode 68 or so, I still got the whole thing waiting for me to watch it, for some reason I just wasn't motivated to watch it anymore...its an ok series I'm currently in the muddle of Lupin III, and witch hunter robin, and still need to finish off my ghibli boxset (damn those 2 hour long movies) |
Freddieshotdate03 09.01.2005 11:37 |
Kagome , because Kikyo needs to move on shes dead anyway. Does Shippo have any power besides his fox magic? His magic is cute but it dosen't seen to hurt anybody. |
inu-liger 09.01.2005 17:10 |
I like Kagome. She's a very nice and sweet girl, even with the "osuwari"'s she uses against Inu Yasha |
inu-liger 09.01.2005 17:14 |
Speaking of "osuwari", me and my friend were watching the first half of the 3rd movie. Sometime after the beginning, at the part where Kagome and her friends are playing volleyball, she tells Inu Yasha to "osuwari" (lit. "sit"). When asked by her friends if she really said that, she says "No, I said 'osuwa ii'", which in Japanese means "vinegar". I was questioning out loud, "How are they going to translate THAT pun into English when it comes out??". My friend thinks, and this was a very good one too, that they'll probably translate it as "salt", because it would make sense, since in the Japanese version, Kagome goes on to say that her grandfather says vinegar is good for her since she is "sick" so often(!) What do you guys think? Or do you think they'll pull a Pokemon and make an even worse pun? |

Ghost In The Shell: now THAT's an awesome movie! I can certainly see the influences it made on the Matrix movies! (Which by the way, I also liked!) I can't wait to rent Ghost In The Shell 2: Innocence! That, I'll have to get my stepmom to rent for me, since she has a membership card for our Blockbuster store near my place. Speaking of Blockbuster, while I was out last Friday job hunting, I filled out an application for Rogers Video, and they had a couple of questions that I thought were funny. One was: "Have you ever watched all 7 Police Academy movies in one sitting?" Of course, I've only ever seen two, ages ago, so I wrote "no". |

No, what's it like? What chanel is it on? |
inu-liger 27.01.2005 14:06 |
No clue. Actually, in English it's apparently called "Mew Mew Power". "Tokyo Mew Mew" is the original name for the Japanese version (as well for the American translated manga version). I'm not even sure if they're showing TMM in America anymore? |
inu-liger 27.01.2005 14:10 |
Btw. it's about a girl, Ichigo, who gets her DNA infused with the DNA of an extinct wildcat, the Irimote Cat, as part of a secret project called the "Mew Mew Project". That's just a short, incomplete summary. If you can't watch it on TV, I recommend the manga version. I've only ever seen the first 3 episodes, since that was all my friend could find on the Internet for me for fansubs (usually, fansubs are taken offline once a series is licensed for distribution in North America usually - Inu Yasha is an exception) but I've already read the manga, so I can wait a long time if I have to to watch the TV version. I really like it. The TV version is slightly different, story wise, but it's still got the same elements that made the manga really goods. It's more of a Shojo (girl's) manga, but guys will be sure to enjoy it as well. My friend, who lent me the .hack// material I mentioned, he also likes the Tokyo Mew Mew manga. We both rented it each from our local library, which otherwise doesn't have much of a good selection of manga (with the exception of the complete Oh My Goddess manga collection - THAT's a good manga! Makes me wanna see the OAV versions!) |

I thought the underwear episode was hilarious, especially with Chii walking down the street, sort of chanting "Pantsu, pantsu, pantsu..." Very funny! Speaking of "Let Me Be With You", I have 3 versions of the song, and I don't know which version is which (except for the one that was edited for the TV Size version)!! One is really different from the other two, and one of the other two has different backing vocals diff. to the other version - I don't know which of those two I like more for that reason! EDIT: And yes I would like to have a persocom in some ways. But a live girl is much more better, for obvious reasons I don't need to get into here ;) (this IS a general board after all!) |

Oh! Not that anyone cares much, but... Yesterday I went to HMV, and after I found out that they sold the last copy of "Cat Girl Nuku Nuku" that they were holding for me to someone else (which really pissed me off), I preordered a copy of the next Pokemon movie DVD, "Pokemon: Destiny Deoxys" It comes out Feb. 15 in North America (US/Canada). I'm sure it was already released in Japan, right? ;-) |

Hey,the reason why I told you abt the persocon is that I just thought you can make it.And it's cute, you know.I checked. The Japanese version has actually been out since Dec. 21, 2004, in Japan(!) It can be bought at link There, actually, there is only a few left in supplier stock! (That surprises me! But then it really WAS a good movie!) A lotta people here in N. America found it strange that they would put this movie out in English about only 6 months after the original version came out in theatres in Japan (we Canadians, and Americans as well, no longer get the movies shown in theatres. The last movie shown in USA was movie 5, the Latios and Latias one, and for Canada, movie 4, with Celebi (which is probably my least favourite of all the movies!)) Miramax, a company owned by Disney, practically owns all the rights from movie 4 and onwards. They're keeping that going with Destiny Deoxys. Speaking of Pokemon movies, I wonder if movie 8, "Mew and the Wave Guiding Hero" will be the last movie or not? Pokemon should be nearing an end within 3 years, once the 4th generation is released for Nintendo DS and the hype for that done with eventually, should it not? I personally think they should quit after Generation 4. But if they want to continue it further than that, I'm not going to complain. I just think though that after this year when it DOES come out (this year is actually the 10th anniversary of the original Japanese game's release in 1995, for those who didn't know! The American 10th anniversary will be 2007 (1997)) But then again, considering that movie 8 is coming out, and the Pokemon theme park is opening in Japan this year (I think in Tokyo, though I most likely may be wrong), and the 4th generation will be released, I don't think this monster machine will be put to an end anytime soon. Heck, I'm even personally hoping that movie 8 will do extremely well in the Japanese Box Office this year like movie 7 did last July 2004! Not saying that none of the movies were ever a bomb - they've all done well, obviously! Otherwise, they'd be released only on DVD/Video in Japan! And that would make them OAV's, which they shouldn't be! They're way too good to be made into OAV's! Ah, and I think I'm just rambling at this point! LOL! Anyways, LivingGirl, can I ask you a favor? Could you find out if the original uncut version of movie 7, "Theatrical Feature Pocket Monster Advance Generation: Rekku no Homonsha The Visitor of The Space Fissure) Deoxys", is available on DVD, in it's original PG-12 rated version? I don't think it'll be uncut here in North America, since the US rating for it already came out, which is G - General Audience, All Ages Admitted. I believe the original had Sci-fi violence that ended up giving the movie its Jap. PG-12 rating. If you could find out for me, I'd be really happy! Thanks! (You have my e-mail, so we'll go from there!) Anyways, this concludes my post for today! Sorry for it being so long! |

"And in today's anime news from Edmonton..." Inu Yasha The Movie 2: Castle Beyond The Looking Glass is #8 in HMV Canada's DVD Sales Charts! I'm actually surprised by that! The first one didn't seem to do as well in sales! (Though it had a few successful (private?) exclusive theatre screenings in some cities in the United States, and Toronto, Canada if I'm not wrong - these were attended by people who I believe won tickets to see the movies in theatres, cos otherwise it was never released generally, whether limited or widely) I hope the 3rd movie, Sword Of World Conquest, does much better. That movie is my favourite out of all the first 3 that I've seen! I've yet to see movie 4... |

inu-liger 04.02.2005 17:57 |
An update to the Japanese version of the Deoxys DVD movie I was looking for... According to one very reliable Pokemon info website, link , the DVD version of this Japanese movie is indeed different to the original theatrical version. But it's not "cut" as much. It's more that they re-animated many scenes, characters, and backgrounds, like Disney did with the DVD version of "The Lion King" (the original version for that movie has only ever been out on VHS and LaserDisc, both of which I own), except more extreme in this case. So, to answer my own question, it's not "cut" as much, but it's not the original theatrical version either (the US version will be using the original theatrical footage, which may explain the "bonus footage" header on the English DVD cover...but then again, the Americans have been known to surprise us many times with the English Pokemon movie dubs!) So indeed, I now would like to obtain a copy, LivingGirl. Please e-mail me if you are able to locate a copy in any of the stores in your area, LG, please and thanks! |
LivingGirl 04.02.2005 19:47 |

Hey,Inu Yasha, same ntsc format. So you can play the dvds here at your dvd player. |
inu-liger 05.02.2005 17:54 |
Indeed. I already knew that, actually. The only thing that depends if the discs from Japan plays on my DVD players here is region code. R2 discs will not play on 99.9% of R1 US/CAN DVD players (there have been some known cases of players being able to play other discs due to manufacturing errors/mistakes!). NTSC is a non-issue with Americans. PAL is on the other hand for Americans importing non-NTSC discs. (For example, I want to get the German version of Pokemon movie 5, since it's in widescreen -the US version is full screen, unfortunately-, and Germany uses the PAL system, so I could only watch it on my PC, since NTSC/PAL issues are a non-issue with computers capable of playing DVD's/VCD's/SVCD's) I can rip them on my PC if they are R2 or any other region, as I explained to you in one of my past e-mails. It's really no big deal. I can just re-format them and burn them to new DVD-R discs if I want to (I've done it once, with my Asuca Hayashi "Chiisaki Mono" DVD-Single) But yeah, to restate what I said, NTSC is a non-issue with DVD's for us Canadians and Americans. It's just convenient that Japan also uses NTSC, since most of the world's English speaking anime collectors come from North America, where NTSC is the main de facto standard. |
inu-liger 06.02.2005 00:42 |
I'm so disappointed now. I went onto CDJapan's website to see if the widescreen version of Urusei Yatsura 2: Beautiful Dreamer DVD was still available....it's not! :*( Sorry, but I just needed an outlet for my frustration, and I think it's best done here. It's not directed towards anybody, btw. I just wanted to express my feelings. |
