For a long time now I've heard all these complaints about Hotspace, as I'm sure all of you have. Like many of you, I planned never to touch the album on account of it being "crap", "shit", etc.
Well... for Christmas I recieved Greatest Video Hits II and from what I've seen I can infer that Hot Space is actually pretty cool. Obviously Under Pressure and Las Palabras De Amor are great songs, but to my surprise I found myself tapping my foot to the EXCELLENT guitar solo in Back Chat and swaying back and forth to Calling All Girls. Staying Power is really nice, live at least. Maybe it's because I'm a dancer that I can appreciate a "dance album" more than some of you, but in any case I plan to buy it very soon.
In the words of Freddie "It's only a bloody record"
So you haven't seen "Dude Where's My Car"? That was kind of the joke. Shitty movie, but it was a bit cute when they got their girlfriends bracelets w/ I HEART YOU engraved on them. That's not the point, (straying from topic)
Yes awesome o Hot Space is a fab album. I too am a dancer so maybe that's why I like it. The first three songs are the best. Body language is crap though sorry.

Hot Space isn't my favorite album but i still like it. To me all the albums are brilliant. The things i don't like in Hot Space are all the synths and Electronic drum kits but then again, Hey. It's nic to have a bit of a change isn't it.
Of that album i like the following tracks...
Staying Power
Back Chat
Action This Day
Put Out The Fire
Life Is Real
Calling All Girls
Las Palabras De Amor
Under Pressure.
It can't be bad if i like all those tracks but i must admit it's not my favorite. I rate it 3 stars *** out of 5.
well i don't like it and the MK concert wasn't great - from the gigs i've been to
i prefer b'ham 79
wembley 86
knebworth 86 and birmingham 84
- but it's only my opinion
I haven't seen anyone complain about it on qz. Most of you have good comments about the MK concert and thats from the Hot Space tour :-S From what I've heard people love GH and a lot of Hot Space tracks are on that! Who's complaining?
I like Milton Keynes and am listening to it right now. Bohemian Rhapsody now to be precise. After this album it'll be Wembley as i havn't heard that for a while. But i certainly don't have any bad comments to make on any of thier albums including Hot Space and Milton Keynes Bowl.
Oh please... You guys don't mean to say you haven't heard anybody bash Hotspace. I hear it all the time.
Oh yes i've heard that a couple of times but not very often at all.
Having spent nearly 5+ years on this board, I've heard more than a couple of comments about Hot Space...and I've never put my 2 cents in about it during those 5 years
I don't see anything wrong with Hot Space. It's really a fun album, nice dance-flavoured and funky for the most part with some other goodies thrown in. (Las Palabras De Amor or Life is Real, anyone?).
It was a new side to Queen people hadn't seen a great deal of before its release, and people hated it because it was 'different'. I like it pretty well. It's not my favourite, of course, but it's actually quite good. Great to put on for a party.

Exactly! The average person who's not a Queen fan might actually prefer this one over some others, it's much more layed back. I think people just freaked cause it was more "fuck" than "rock". But musically wise, I actually believe it's great, just a different genre.
Oh I hear Hot Space being Called a LOT of bad names, myself, I like Hot Space, it's the Flash Gordon Soundtrack that I can't stand..
I don't mind Flash Gordon. I don't think it's a bad album at all. I rarely listen to it though. I've got Wembley on at the moment to be precise.
Oh Joe... I am 100% behind you on that one, that is the ONLY Queen record I cannot stand, I own it ONLY to complete the collection, but to me the Flash Gordon soundtrack is just a bunch of noise, something to show off the synth movement that they shunned for so long. and I really didn't care for the movie either
there was a time when i hated it.. it thought it was awful and couldn't stand it but more or less a year ago i puyt it in my cd again and... it stayed inside for about a week... since then, it is one of my favourites... i was more than happy to see milton keynes released on dvd because in my opinion, songs from hot space sound even better live... in fact, there are only 3 songs of HS that i don't really like... these are put out the fire, life is real and las palabras the amor... actually i'm listening to hot space right now :)
power power power power power power stayin' poweeeeeeeeeeeer!!
Yeah, a lot of us like it here!! And then, a lot of people hate it...for some reason.
I think most people here like it but some just arn't so keen on it as it's totally different to any of thier other albums. It has a completely different sound. I don't mind it though.
i love hot space, all of it except for some schmalzty bits in the middle of life is real. its a great tribute to lennon, and then it gets too dramatic for second. anyway, i bought hotspace for Cool Cat, after i heard a excerpt of the song on some tv doc. its now up there with the best queen albums for me. i even have a hot-space era queen t-shirt. (plain red, with four hotspace faces in plain black)
