Has anyone been to a live queen show in the 1971-1979 period? How was it, how do you remember it? Do you agree that the shows between 1982 and 1986 were less spectacular, although more gigantic? By the way, can I find somewhere a complete video of the March 31st 1974 performance at the Rainbow? |

By the way, can I find somewhere a complete video of the March 31st 1974 performance at the Rainbow? Yeah i'm looking for that if any of you have it or know where i can download it. Bearing in mind i don't have one of those bit torrent things and don't know how to download them. Also does anyone have the video to any other 70s shows. If not don't worry. |

I've heard a couple of songs recorded during thier first gigs in 1971 and 1972 but havn't heard anything live from an earlier date. I never got to see them live as i was born in 1990. I would of loved to see them live though. I can't wait till next years tour. |

answer to my questions? |

I can't say i've been to see them so i've told you what i've heard from thier early gigs. I think thier concerts were more spectacular in the 70s but bigger in the eighties like you said. |

Can you share these files (if you have them) with me? If you give me your email adress then i may beable to send some rare tracks to you. Some are just clips and some are full tracks. Bearing in mind you may need real player to play them. I'm not sure though. Give me your email anyway and i'll try to send you some stuff i've got. |

If you go to the associated links on the home page, there's a guy in Peru -Magicvision who has loads of VCDs (if you've got a relatively new dvd it will play)including the Rainbow concert and the Hammersmith X-Mas show in total. They cost me $40.00 £20.00 for both. It took a few weeks to get from there to England but hey well worth it. As for them live absolutly brilliant-charismatic (posted this last night on another thread). I would love to hear the support slot to Mott the Hoople again if there's a boot of it....please. Birmingham Odeon 75, Hyde Park 76, Stafford 77, 78, NEC79 All xcelent shows. Hope first Para is of help. |

I saw the WE ARE THE CHAMPIONS tour in '77.Awesome show! I've seen some pretty good r'r shows THE WHO,ZEP,CLASH,KINKS etc.I thought Queen were every bit as good as these groups.Queens'musical genius was amazing-very tight.Combine this with the bands' showmanship & you have a killer show.I know i'm a middle aged old fart now but I can't of many of todays' bands that are as talented and as original as QUEEN in the 70's.It's all corporate now and all about the money.QUEEN were true artist. Just my opinion of course. |

tymd, glad to have your point of view on the matter. I was 3 when Freddie died, and I wondered if it was just my impression, that Queen in the 70s is something exceptional. |

My first Queen concert was December 8, 1978. It was my first concert and I will never forget it. It was thrilling and scary at the same time. Scary because I was only 12 and I was surrounded by a bunch of people doing drugs, which was something I had never been around before. I also saw them in '80 and '82. My favourite show was the one in 1980. It was the Game tour and it was the number one album in the USA and I had better seats than the one in '78. The show in '82 had Billy Squier opening the show and all my friends were there to see him. Well after the show they were all raving about how incredible Queen were and they didn't remember anything about Squier. Oh to be young again. |

Is there a problem with the 1980-81 tours? :) I saw Queen in 1980 and they ROCKED.. as far as the VIDEO of the Rainbow show mentioned, Only a very small clip of it exists, and funny enough, it has a couple tracks that are not on the audio bootleg, For example Modern Times Rock and Roll is on the video, but not the audio. I do not think a complete video exists.. but we can only hope |

Having seen Queen on every North American tour from A Day at the Races through Hot Space, I believe that the 70s shows were far superior as rock shows to the spectacles of the 80s. From Freddie's costume changes to the rawness of Queen as a live rock band, it was exciting. The 80s saw the use of keyboards and sequencers and it was more of a pop/rock show. If your preference is for a rock and roll show, 70s Queen was your best bet. |

We saw Queen close out the DATR tour in Edmonton, Alberta Canada and at the time they were just another band that came around the horn. So many acts would tour here that after a while it was just another concert, just another party. But Queen were much more than that, they were a bonafide supergroup if I may use that term here. We took it for granted that Queen would come back again but alas they never did. If they come even close to here in 2005 we will be there somehow. |
