Alot of people on here have complained about him. So who would you like instead? Not that it will change whats happening obviously, but hey... |
deleted user 24.12.2004 18:56 |
I don't really know. I don't mind Paul Rogers. I can't wait to go and see Queen next year. My mums actually going to take me!!! I'm so excited. |
Robin 24.12.2004 22:39 |
No one now that I've heard him do Queen's and his own music with the guys. He was just great, in my opinion. I think this tour will be a success. |
Sebastian 24.12.2004 23:58 |
I think he's very good; as I told someone this morning, the tour might be really good. It's the name what I complain about |
lottie88 25.12.2004 00:10 |
I think David Bowie might be good as a replacement. |

bitesthedust 25.12.2004 05:29 |
I agree with Sebastian - Brian & Roger shouldn't be using the Queen name. |
FriedChicken 25.12.2004 07:30 |
I think they should, cause they have been working their asses off for 30 years for their band. But there are other topics for this |

during the seventies, a band called Angel toured, collected a following, and released a number of pretty good albums, despite the fact that they were "discovered" by gene Simmons, of Kiss fame. and signed to a recording contract on the Kiss label. The singer's name was Frank Di Mino, and if he can still sing, (there was a 2000 reunion) he was deeply into progressive art rock, a lot like queen 1 and 2; they were pertimes compared in an unflattering manner, although they were really quite good. Dimino's was a sensitive and emotive voice, and he loved to soar from lento and dulce to allegro and fortissimo, displaying good vocal range and dynamic control. He woulkd, in my self contained opinion, be,without question, a perfect fit. |
Roger's Beard 26.12.2004 06:52 |
I don't know why they just didn't ask Jeff Scott Soto to sing with them. It would boost Jeff's career and we'd get someone who can tackle Queen's songs better than anyone else I've ever heard. The man is a born performer. |
Khizzy 26.12.2004 06:54 |
James Dean Bradfield from the Manics... he's got a very strong voice and he's also a bloody good guitarist as well... so he could take over guitar duties whilst Brian or Roger sing....Honestly, he IS a damn fine singer! |

Paul Rodgers is good enough. No one is going to pretend it's Queen as they used to be - it's not, Freddie is dead and nothing will change that. So, as long as this is briefly acknowledged in the live show (I dunno, Freddie vocals + images on the big screen at the start - and perhaps something based off It's a Beautiful Day/Track 13) then who cares? Time to move on, it's a bloody insult to Freddie's memory to just say 'oh damn he's dead, boo hoo let's not play anymore'. And if they're called Queen, big deal? They ARE what is left of Queen, it's them that worked to give that title it's meaning. Just kicking myself for not living in Europe. |

I never cared much for Paul, or anything he's been associated with. I think he's a poor choice to front Queen. They'll probably lay off the trickier Queen numbers, and do just the grittier rock stuff. I think George Michael, or even Tim Staffel would've been a wiser choice. |

They ARE what is left of Queen, it's them that worked to give that title it's meaning. Just kicking myself for not living in Europe.Well said all around. Nobody is going to go to one of the shows and be shocked that Freddie Mercury isn't there, even if its billed as a "Queen" concert. People are going to know exactly what they're in store for when they buy their tickets - two of the core members of Queen plus a great vocalist, who is one of their peers, performing songs from the Queen catalogue. That's a lot of fit on a marquee, so "Queen + Paul Rodgers" for short works just fine. Paul's a terrific vocalist and front man, and I expect they're going to put on a great show. I just hope all the Queen fans out there with their knickers in a twist can get themselves unbunched in time to enjoy a great show and to really make the tour a celebration of Queen's history and their great song catalogue, and of the role they all played in making some truly inspired and brilliant music over 30 years. I hope everybody can set aside their precious personal opinions and just enjoy Brian and Roger wanting to perform for all of us again, whether they're billed as "Queen" or "Kween" or "Old Tarts" or "Over the Hill Gang". Who cares. Just support the guys and enjoy the show. They're not going to be around forever. |
brENsKi 26.12.2004 15:54 |
call yourself fans? if i were brian or roger - i'd find this downright insulting most of the "suggestions" have no vocal range to speak of - and are certainly not "great" or "respected" r n r vocalists you are ALL stuck with this choice until,THEY change their minds - give the guy a chance ffs |

David Bowie. :) Nah, I think Paul Rodgers will be great. |

Not to offend anyone, but why again do people complain about this? "Oh, Bri and Rog shouldn't use Queen as the name...there is no Queen without Freddie.." Why not? Freddie was great. The best vocalist of all time, but what about Brian and Roger? They worked their asses off for years with the band as well. Queen was NOT a solo project, it was those men working equally hard at something they loved. Using the name Queen again NEEDS to be done. It's like moving on...showing the world that Freddie was lost, and it was painful, but they need to make music because that's what they were born to do. It's necessary, as much as you people may dislike it. Paul Rodgers is a talented vocalist as well. You all just hate him because he isn't Freddie. If it were...the best living vocalist, you still wouldn't be happy. Accept Queen as they are NOW. I know it's hard even after all these years, but they're moving on. Why can't you? Sara |

rockerchick 27.12.2004 17:40 |
I mean i don't mind the other members starting to go on tour but it hurts that they would use the name QUEEN as there address. I mean after all freddie thought up that name in the first place!! |
redyfredy01 27.12.2004 17:46 |
Personally, i would like David Bowie. I love David Bowie, and since Queen and David has done a song together before, maybe it would work out better. That is just my thought. |

freddieismyqueen 27.12.2004 21:49 |
Again, Freddie DID think up the name, but what difference does that make? The guys are doing something I see as being wholly necessary for them to do. Like I said, again, it's like moving on. You have to understand that even after all of these years, it's still painful. This is something they HAVE to do. They've toyed with the idea of using other names (Taylor Mayde, anyone?), but in the end, this is what needs to be done. There is no Queen without Freddie...well, not Queen as we knew it, but 1/2 of the band are still willing to tour, you should respect that and their decision to use the Queen name. Sara |

You people are so stupid. I'm not even kidding. On all of the other Queen forums, there is a load of respect going on. You people are pathetic! Fighting over all of this trivial crap...it's a load of shit! You're pathetic! PATHETIC! You're living in the past which is sad...no Queen without Freddie. No SHIT he was the best, always will be, but he's not coming back! As much as you all want him too, he isn't! Let Brian and Roger do what they will, it's none of your fucking concern! They don't need your constant scrutiny over something so ludicrous as using a band name. They do NOT need that kind of crap. They're doing this to move on. MOVE on. Is this coming through to you people? It's hard, even after over 13 years. I've lost people 15 years ago and it's still hard. He was very close to them. Sure, he thought the band name up, but they're just as entitled to use it. Freddie wouldn't care a DAMN if they used Queen as the name. I'm sure that wherever he is...heaven, whatever...he's smiling down on them for trying. FUCK YOU. You people are sad. Pathetic. Flame me. Flame away. It's pathetic. PATHETIC.
