Personally, I would wanted Queen to use the guitar on the albums the same way they did on stage. I also think they should have used the synthesizers in a different way and that Roger should be as full of energy as he was in the early days throughout the years they played. |
Fenderek 21.12.2004 12:25 |
See What A Fool I've Been sang seriously is much better White Queen with piano is much better Spread Your wings from BBC is also better WWRY slow/fast from BBC is also better Son And Daughter from Session 2 is another better version... Guitar in my Melancholy Blues also sounds cool... Demos from Hot Space (Staying power, Back Chat, Las Palabras De Amor etc) sound better than actual album cuts... Staying Powe in particular sounded far better live... THE WORKS should be without keyboards and electric drum... :) Enough...? I think I prefer live renditions to album versions in most cases- less produced, more spontaneous and basically fresher and more powerfull... |

I wouldn't change anything, but I'd like to add something: for instance - all songs that sung by Brian and Roger - with Freddie's vocals on it... |

yeah, Hot Space - remove all traces of funk and replace with rock the works - get more power and drums into the mix |

Son & Daughter (beeb) session 2. Alot better than original version. Hot Space. I'm not too keen on the electric drum kits and synthesizers. They should still use electric drum kits but not as much as they did in Hot Space and the works. I Don't mind Hot Space and i love The Works. |

Action This Day should have a guitar solo, not a synth brass one. Invisible Man needs the hi-hat turning down (or off). Was It All Worth It needs guitar to replace the synth. All Gods People should still be unreleased. |
Lord Blackadder 21.12.2004 16:48 |
There are always bits you would like to change a little in songs. I hate 'A Winter's Tale' at the start because the synth just comes in and makes it sound very I dunno, old. And I wouldnt have the harmony parts (the dream of the child) quite so loud. Apart from that the song is wonderful. |

Action This Day should have a guitar solo, not a synth brass one. I totally agree with you an that one. I don't actually mind that song its just the synth solo i don't like. It wrecks it for me. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 21.12.2004 17:26 |
I would change the synth solo in I Want To Break Free to a guitar solo. It's always kind of ruined the song for me. |
John S Stuart 21.12.2004 17:28 |
"Play The Game with Andy Gibb" - I would release it! |
ryancoke 21.12.2004 18:17 |
Umm...I wouldn't change anything, but I'd love a harder version of Prime Jive without the synth, just to hear what it'd be like. |
Sebastian 21.12.2004 22:01 |
More singing from Brian & Roger. In fact I would have liked if Queen instead of having a frontman had four instrumentalists, three of them splitting the singing. I prefer Break Free with Roger, for instance |
Melancholy Blues 21.12.2004 23:52 |
the only song i can really think of is radio ga ga. i think it's just such a fantastic song but it sounds a bit too synthasised and not as energetic as it could be. i think they should have done it the way they did it at wembley, it is so much more energetic and freddie's vocals are really powerful. i think that it conveys the meaning of the song much better. |

I would have had Roger and Brian sing more harmonies rather than Freddie only harmonies. |

I think 'You take my breath away' overdoes it with the backing vocals. And the 'take my breath, take my breath, take my breath, take my breath, take my breath, take my breath, take my breath..... awaaaaaaay' part at the end should have been left off. The BBC versions of 'Great King Rat', 'Liar', 'My Fairy King', 'Son and Daughter' and 'Doing All Right' are marginally superior to those on 'Queen', IMO. The album versions had too many superflous effects on the vocals and percussion (e.g. the phasing on the Liar' intro, the echoes on 'Doing All Right' ('should be waiting for the sun')) whoch were removed from the BBC versions. The BBC versions were also that much heavier (e.g. the electric rhythm on 'Great King Rat'). The crying baby ought to have been left off the end of 'Mother Love'. The synth/guitar solo on 'I Want to Break Free' shpuld have been just straight guitar. Perhaps Teo Torriate could have done without the 'plastic piano' (which to my ears sounds like a Casio Keyboard. Can't wait to hear Brians new mix of this). I just love nitpicking. |

Why do you all trash "All Gods People"? its one of the best tracks on Innuendo - its really kind of over the top, like many other Queen songs Its also very similar to the "Barcelona"-album from Freddie - but maybe you don't appreciate Freddies "opera"-effort |
Pim Derks 22.12.2004 07:34 |
My Fairy King has always sounded a bit unfinished to me, especially the ending. Still a masterpiece :) |

It's funny I was just thinking about how the NATO version of "Love of My Life" would have been helped a lot just by getting rid of the backing vocals that keep flooding the melody -- it's hard to understand the song itself unless you've already heard the live version. |
teddybear 22.12.2004 16:39 |
I love Freddies solo and Barcelona work, but I do not like "All God's People" at all, it is just way over the top, and something is quite amiss with it, it sounds too overly done. I also do not like the crying baby in "Mother Love". I love the BBC version of Spread Your Wings. And how about the Hot Space songs sung live? They are just so awesome compared to the studio versions, live......well, they just sprung up and sounded so great :-)) but overall, I would not change a thing. I think if they release this stuff on DVD audio - it will take on new life again (I wish they would hurry and put out more of those albums !!) |
Ms. Bea Haven 22.12.2004 22:19 |
Not so much change it, but the end of "The Miracle" - ...the 'that time will come'...I always wondered where that came from, and why it is spliced to the end...that last section - for me, it has so much potential...it's very powerful - I would love to hear what else they had in mind...where they would have taken it...something I guess we'll never know. |

Great topic! First, I would like Roger to have used a different drum kit on Jazz. Second, I would have liked Hot Space, Works, and AKOM to have less electronic drums and more Roger. Many songs suffer because of this. Third, I wish there would have been less poppy crap and filler on these three albums. What happened to the creativity of their 70s efforts? Fourth, I wish the Jazz, Game, and Flash tours would have had more diverse setlists, as well as having a few older songs resurrected. All they seemed to do on these tours keep the same setlist, but dropping a few old songs and adding a few new ones. Also, the Hot Space tour, especially in the US, had far too many Game/HS songs. This left many fans of 70s Queen very disappointed. Finally, I wish the Magic tour would have had more older material, and had Freddie on the piano more. I'm sure there's more, but that's all I can think of right now. |

I'd remove Funny How Love From Queen2 |
u7online 23.12.2004 08:02 |
I see the big medley in Ogre battle, fairy feller, nevermore and MOTBQ. In my opinion FUnny how love ruins that lovely medley. |
u7online 23.12.2004 08:13 |
That would be great. I wouldn't have to skip that track anymore... ^^ Anyway, Queen2 is still my favourite :) |
liam 23.12.2004 09:36 |
i reckon the prophets song is a classic but i think that whole middle section should be shortened an awful lot. it almost makes the songs unlistenable. |

It's not. But it's Queen, and I like it that way, with their ups and downs... Btw, does anybody know if there's any site where I could download the Las Palabras De Amor demo? Since I'm very fond of that song and the demo version sounds better, then... I guess I'd love to listen to it. Please help... |

I agree with all of you, I must say. I think you're absolutely right about Hot Space and The Works, they should have been done in a more rocking way with more guitar and drums and less synthesizer and electro purcussions. |

I think I would change I'm in Love WIth my Car, it's just sooooo cheesy with the engine going in the back ground, that's me anyways. |

1)The March of the black queen should have less of 'in each and every soul lies a man and very soon he'll deceive and discover......blaah blaah'This part of the song goes on for too long and without it the song would be a million times better 2)Spread your wings should have more drums and er, I dunno, just more power. To me it sounds quieter when listening to News of the world, than the rest of the songs. It is a brilliant song and it could have been an anthem. 3) Used to love Play the Game, but since hearing it live, the album version just doesn't comnpare, full stop. 4) Too much synth on Action this day, Las palabras de amor, and Calling all girls. 5) I think loads have mentioned this, but replace synth solo on I want to break free, with guitar solo. 6) I would have loved to hear Freddie sing 'No one but you' 7) Sorry to say it but I hate the operatic section in The Prophet's song. It once again goes on too long and slightly spoils a song I love |
