Hmm I am a Queen fan saw them in 86 at wembley .. have all the albums etc... but more importantly im a music fan, what is really beginning to wear thin is all this "Freddie is being replaced, it isnt Queen, Paul Rogers is shit etc..." my feelings on this subject is most of you out there have very little respect for bri & rog if thats what you really think these two "judas's" is the best word i can use think they're doing this in malace to replace Freddie & Freddie meant nothing have we forgot for the last two years of Freddie's life, brian & rog denied everything to protect freddie & then after Freddie died.. it made liars of everyone... do honestly think Bri & Rog will ever forget 25 years-ish they spent with Freddie?
.. it was a no win situation for Paul Rogers (freddie has very big shoes to fill) but Paul Rogers has own very big shoes too if he'd have goofed everyone would have said "told you so" but those numbers he did were very good renditions, & id rather see a true rocker in Paul Rogers than Robbie Williams, Elton John or George Michael.. go out & buy any Free or Bad Company album... I recommend Straight Shooter & just listen to "Good Lovin' Gone Bad" Paul Rogers is no Mug
Are Brian & Roger just meant to let this chance go by? & do nothing for the next 5-10 years i for one cant wait to hear some Queen numbers live again whatever they are.
Brian is 57 & Rog 55, they can still cut it i believe, lets support them, Aerosmith are still touring, Paul McCartney has had a live renassiance since 2002 & if the rumours are true is going on the road in the usa in 2005 he'll be 63 next year, the Stones still tour... so is beyond the realms of possibilty that perhaps this good be really good & maybe we could hear a new album bri's last studio album 1998 (ignoring the film soundtrack) rog's same year .. over 6 years with no new music.. Brian is too good a songwriter & musician as is Roger just to sit around doing nothing .. i know they're doing other things Queen musicals etc (the safe route) .. but maybe they just want to get hot & sweaty and perform again & take risks isnt that what rocknroll is? i think Cozy dying was another big blow for Brian & its took a while to get itchy feet
If the reasons for all this is negativity is "freddie's being replaced" its very boring & repetive, we all know Freddie aint coming back & he would be up for it.. Freddie was one of the most positive people there was & wasnt afraid of taking risks.. thats why he aint with us now, god bless him
As for John Deacon he may as well be up there with Freddie for what input he has from what i can see, if he aint up for it, cant be bothered, enjoying his retirement etc.. that's his decision, respect to him.. but to say its not Queen cos Paul Rogers is singing or John Deacon is a cop out & an very easy thing to say.
Brian & Rog were together long before Queen, this is maybe the next chapter in their lives.. it maybe a short 5 page chapter.. or maybe a 25 page epic... lets see
Nah, you done good.
That said, you raise some pretty good points...people act as if Brian, Roger, and Paul are going to embarass the hell out of themselves, but I think they can pull it off, certainly a lot more gracefully than the bands the OP mentioned. I'd rather see Queen & Paul Rodgers over The Rolling Stones any day.
