Alright, I know that this (and some of the threads) are mere speculation, BUT, I want your opinion on this: Will they use massive lighting rigs again, and are soccer stadiums part of the itinerary?
I'm not sure that stadiums are possible. Maybe not even arenas. I think they'll have to start with venues the size of Hammersmith appollo (or whatever it's called these days). Perhaps they could stretch to a Wembley Arena, but I'm not so sure. I think it'd be good to start smaller really, kinda build up to it!
Lighting wise, I'm sure they'll cram in the most lights they can, as they'll be in complete control (as opposed to having to fit in with others as they have had to in recent years)
I dont think the collective ego's will bow to playing city hall size venues
Most arenas nowadays in this country can be configured to half size or whatever, which is good from a punters point of view because you get an arena show but in a more intimate setting.
I think the tour will sell quite well but the days of football stadiums are well and truly over.
I'm not too sure that they'll play in stadiums or arenas, instead,I belive they'll concentrate on halls which capacity is 10000-150000 and frankly I think that's quite enough for this tour.It is enough to sell the place out and I don't belive that the ticket demand will be so huge.Even if it is they can always add second night...About the lightning,it won't be as grand as it was during '86 tour but it can be something like late seventies thing (Pizza oven...)
I'd say stadiums with a capacity of 50,000 to 100,000. Queen is still quite big. If you look at the On Fire sales for instance... And there are still a lot of Queen fans
Queen is still large enough to sell stadiums. Say in the UK, you could point to the success of the musical to see that people would still want to see them.
However, I think that they should focus on Arena size venue's. They haven't toured for a long time and surely need to warm up.
I think there's a world of difference in buying a DVD or seeing the musical to going to see them in concert.
they might work up towards larger venues, but I think they could be caught out if they go for it in a big way from the start.
I don't think there's a problem with their egos on the size of venue. Look at the Bri and Rog solo tours. Especially Rog. He did some really small venues. I saw him in Manchester in '93 and that was a small venue!
Bri about the tour details;

TOUR DETAILS?
Ed: We are completely drowning in e-mails asking for more tour details....
YES, ALL IN GOOD TIME !

I don't wanna know how many e-mails Bri gets every day :p
I think they should perform in big halls like the AHOY (in Rotterdam, or the Sportpaleis (in Antwerpen) or the Hammersmith Apollo , but not the soccer stadiums. The capacity of these halls should be between the 10000 and the 25000 people. This is also perfect for the people that are really interested. It's also more intimate. They should only do the bigger soccer stadiums if the tour goes well.
Well said.
The "Stadium-Queen" is gone.
I don't think the concerts will be "stadium-shows". I even would'nt be too suprised if they played blues standards, as the whole thing might be a kind of "we wanna do it for fun"-thing.
Personally, I think Queen (with Paul Rodgers) can fill out the largest sized indoor venues in the UK, not sure about Europe but as we've seen they're due to play in a large-ish sized venue in Paris.
My guess for venues in the UK are NEC (or NIA) in Birmingham, Wembley Arena, MEN Arena, Cardiff International Arena.
Maybe they'll play a few more gigs up north, but those are the sorts of 5,000 to 15,000 capacity arenas I can see them playing to - one of my other favourite bands have just finished playing an arena tour and their latest album almost flopped, and I know the awareness of Queen has built up recently - my two sisters have become big fans over the last few months, which is good evidence of that.
