Sorry for the length of this, but I have a lot to say.
Look, I'm a huge Queen fan from the U.S., (who will, in fact, travel to Europe to see this concert if it doesn't come here) and NO, of course no one will EVER replace Freddie. We all know this, Hell, BRIAN AND ROGER know it too, that's why this tour is called Queen + Paul Rodgers. This is the best we can hope for as true Queen fans.
As much as I will always love and miss Freddie, we must remember that Brian and Roger have been playing together longer than Freddie (or obviously John) was in the original band (going all the way back to Smile). So, if you are fans of Queen, then you must be fans of the WHOLE BAND - not just Freddie, so I fully support Brian and Roger (and maybe John? although I doubt he'll crawl out of his hole - but it would be nice) on this endeavor.
We can easily have QUEEN + Paul Rodgers and enjoy great musicians playing our favorite music.
Also, remember, Paul Rodgers was one of Freddie's favorit singers and a good friend, so I'm sure he would approve.
THE SHOW MUST GO ON.
This IS what Freddie would want, so let's enjoy it for what it is.

Nickmash,
As another Queen fan in America who did not get to see the band in its full complement, I empathize and wholeheartedly agree with your sentiments.
Hopefully those US tour plans will hold true...but I'll be sitting next to you on the cross-Atlantic flight if necessary. I'll be damned if I'm going to miss this!
I totally agree !!!
I think this tour is really great. This is my first chance to see my favourite band. Roger and Brian worked very hard during their career in Queen. So this is Queen + Paul Rodgers. Paul doesn't replace Freddie. I think Paul is a great singer and I want to hear more of him. So people, stop grumble about all this !!! If you don't want to see this tour, stop talking about it. And if you want to see it, shout it out !!!
....it's not a good thing, just better than nothing....I had tix to see queen in the US during the hot space tour, but I got sick when they came to NY - this is my second chance to see them and you know what? it's better than nothing (although please please don't let brian sing we will rock you - he sounds like a wobbly old lady getting her nipples twisted)
I'll echo: please don't let the old lady with the weak, wobbly voice sing.
I'll echo: call them anything, just tour! it's a very good thing.
Additionally, I rather like the care they're taking to reassure fans that no one has been "replaced". Queen + Paul Rodgers is politically correct, so long as no new recording is made, I suppose.
But if Roger & Brian ever record with a new vocalist again, the best thing they can do is RENAME. This would take guts, but I still think it'd be the way to go.
Nice to have them actively performing again.

Welcome, we need someone positive over here :)
I agree with you guys. This is a great opportunity for us who were too young at the the time Queen toured the globe. For example,I was born in 1981,Queen played in my hometown Zagreb on 6th of february '79 and had their last show in '86 when I was just 5 yers old.I do belive that there are many fans who have similar "problem" as I do.Anyway, this is excellent idea!
As you can tell by my name NO ONE can replace freddie. That beinging said no one is better suited to play thier music then brian, roger, and john. The "king" unfortunaly is dead, Long live "the" Queen. I for one will go to any place to hear thier music live agian LIVE!!! I would love to run on stage and give then all a big hug and thanks for wrriting the songs that fit my live so perfectly. Any mood any feeling I can turn to a Queen song and say THAT'S IT!!! Save a seat for me on the plane!!!! God bless Happy Christmas One more thing if you "guys" happen to read these things. Dig in your arcieves find some unheard Freddie bits and release them. :) Peace
