Why didnt they tour with Robbie Williams, seen him live and he is more like Freddie than anyone these days |
Melancholy Blues 19.12.2004 00:28 |
because robbie williams is really famous and does not need to tour with queen. paul rodgers is a has been and him and queen need each other to come back into the limelight. i do agree however that robbie would be a much better replacement for freddie (not that he can be replaced)though it would be more like robbie williams featuring queen, queen would become like his support act. |

I think Brian and Roger are more on the same page as Paul Rodgers. They're all experienced, respected musicians who've been in the business for years and already cemented a legacy for themselves. Robbie Williams is more of an up-and-coming popstar who's made a name for himself, but doesn't have the history that Brian and Roger have with Queen and Paul has with Bad Company, Free and The Firm. Also, like Melancholy Blues said, he probably would end up attracting more attention to himself and end up taking the focus off the first tour as Queen in years. |
Sonja 19.12.2004 03:20 |
Robbie's too young to tour with them. I like Robbie, he's a damn good singer and he also reminded me of Freddie when I saw him but he doesn't fit in that well... |
Hairy Rump 19.12.2004 04:49 |
robby isnt up'n'cumming he is a household name already sadly enuff |
Hankster 19.12.2004 05:04 |
Paul has a history and is a great singer. But with Robbie they can easily fill huge venues like Knebworth and Wembley in Brittain and Waldbuehne in Germany and Ahoy in Holland a couple of nights. And I doubt that they will with Paul Rodgers .. I wish them all the luck with the tour (I'm sure it will be great!), but I don't think that they must set their hopes too high .. and neither must we. How much I like the Allright Now thing from the Music Hall, I really think that Robbie was a better frontmen for this. But ye, I also think that it would be a "Robbie ft. Queen" thing .. with everywhere banners with Robbie slogans .. nah .. Paul is better ;) |
The Fairy King 19.12.2004 07:19 |
I agree, a tour with Robbie would rule! |
Hankster 19.12.2004 08:08 |
I've always said that he was the perfect man for a tour together with George Michael and Tony Vincent; I always thought that a concert with those three singers as the frontmen would be awesome .. but indeed, most of the reactions where boo's :p |
Scirocco1977 19.12.2004 09:18 |
According to Robbie's biography "Feel", he no longer wanted to work with Queen because they started collaborating with boybands (5ive). Brian stated in an interview that Robbie could give them a call if he is interedted singing for them. I like the idea actually. I am not a fan of Robbie per se, but I like some of his songs and his stage performance is awesome. |
deleted user 19.12.2004 15:19 |
How can that be ? Wasn't WATC after the WWRY-collab with 5ive ? |
Scirocco1977 19.12.2004 15:41 |
dunno... however, i can check again inthe biography... maybe he was referring to the britney spears collaboration |
LadyMoonshineDown 19.12.2004 15:45 |
Since Robbie Williams is an "up and coming star", it would only seem fit to have an older and more experienced frontman to collaborate with. You know, someone with more experience to command a crowd. Cheers |
The Fairy King 20.12.2004 09:55 |
and i think you're a wankster, nuff said :P |
Oberon 20.12.2004 11:12 |
I think the RW version of WATC was not too bad really. But I agree that he's not the right artist to tour with Queen. He's far too successful in his own right, and it would be a mixed focus of material. All RW's core fans would probably be a little bemused when the Queen songs were played, and there'd be much more of an equal split between RW and Queen songs, which would not please the Queen fans. So nobody wins! It remains to be seen, but I suspect that the tour with Paul Rogers will have much more Queen material and four or five from Paul's catalogue. Plus fans of Paul will probably be fans of, or at least respect, Queen |
Mack2008 20.12.2004 11:36 |
I loved him in Mrs Doubtfire and Birdcage! |
mike hunt 20.12.2004 14:11 |
robbie is englands justin timberlake, stop all the robbie talk, i have one of his CDs and it has 2 or 3 good songs the rest stinks, he's overated just like spears and justin. |

The thing with Robbie is, he thinks he is the greatest ever. And alot of people who go and see him go 'coz he is apparently gorgeous, not 'coz the music is fantastic. |

Lord Blackadder wrote: The thing with Robbie is, he thinks he is the greatest ever. I mean, take a look at his performances... the last time I saw all that crowd at Knebworth going crazy from the first row to the last was when Queen played it (well, from what I saw on videos). But I am happy that they didn't choose Robbie for the tour! As much as I like him but I don't think he would have been the right choice! |
sdferertg 20.12.2004 16:07 |
I don't think touring with RW is the right thing to do for Brian and Roger. Paul Rodgers is the right man at the moment to tour with. But instead of RW, a guest-appearance of Justin Hawkins from The Darkness would just be perfect! Especially for songs like Love Of My Life and Don't Try So Hard etc. I think it would be beautiful if Justin sings this slow, high songs live with Brian and Roger! Houdoe, GaLiLe0 aka Ad |
teddybear 20.12.2004 17:26 |
I don't like Robbie personally, but maybe if they used Robbie, he would actually over-shadow Queen really? In they way that he now holds the biggest record for packing out Knebworth than anyone in history (so they say) - "maybe" it would look like Robbie Williams with Queen as HIS support? Seeing he has such a big fan base now? Although, I personally cannot stand him !! I think the press would view it as Robbie going on Tour with Queen ????????????? (just a thought) |

slightly mad 22 20.12.2004 17:50 |
as i have said before i think in terms of closest to freddie in stage presance and performance R.W is the closest we will get!! he has no reason to do it tho, and it would just over shadow the Queen thing!!! would be good if it was Queen only songs!! if as he says in the book FEEL "he wants to kill off Robbie Williams and join a band!!" he'd be perfect!! |
mike hunt 20.12.2004 18:19 |
like i said, i have nothing against robbie, i know most people like him because he's good looking like spears, and timberlake, but has a better sounding voice than timberlake, i don't fall for hype, i don't like robbie because it's hype, i don't like cobain as a guitar player or singer he was all hype, robbie to me is a teeny bopper much like justin, it's not putting him down, the man never made it in america, and i'm glad because that's all we need is another little talent teeny bopper making it big because of his looks. again, i'v heard his music "angels" is a good song, but that's about it, "let me enertain you" stinks, if you wanna talk about robbie your in the wrong site, this is a queen site, queen and robbie williams have nothing in common. |
mike hunt 20.12.2004 18:26 |
let me just add, queen made the right choice by paul rodgers, their the same age from the same era, musicians without hype (unlike robbie stinking williams) and the man could sing, my humble opinion, freddie would be proud to have paul on tour with queen, a man from his era, a man he liked, a singer who's music will be remembered around the world, just like queen. |
Mindmangler 20.12.2004 18:42 |
While I may be biased, being both a Queen fan and a Robbie fan, I think that Rob would have been a good choice. He has a strong voice with good range, he's an energetic performer and he has fantastic stage presence. That said, it's very likely that the English press would jump on it as a Robbie Williams show with Queen as a backing band. Robbie, I think, also is gearing up for another tour of his own next year and doing his own thing for his own fans. Which is as it should be. |
mike hunt 20.12.2004 19:12 |
again, you wanna talk about robbie stinking williams go to his web site, this sites for queen fans. |
teddybear 20.12.2004 19:20 |
Mike, probably coz the question was Queen and Robbie related. If you don't like the topic, don't read it !!! Boy - some of you sure are picky and intolerant !! |
mike hunt 20.12.2004 20:12 |
yea, if you wanna talk about the who or the beatles that's fine, but robbie stinks, in my humble opinion. |

Maybe Robbie isn't as talented as othe musicians (Freddie for instance) BUT: the atmosphere at a robbie show is simply awesome and (imho) comes closest to what it has been at a queen concert. |
Russian Headlong 21.12.2004 07:33 |
Robbie Williams is an over hyped talentless cunt, nuff said. Another one like george Michael i'm serious now but I used be in a boy band. Like Justin Hawkins said Queen have tarred their image recently with work with RW, 5ive and that Pepsi shite. Paul Rogers is a GREAT singer, Free and Bad Company made some great tunes and check out his 'The Law' album its terrific and very underated. |
ogret raylot 21.12.2004 09:08 |
I saw him on the Tonight Show and he folded up some paper and put it in his mouth and mocked Freddie for all he was worth. So piss on that little bastard. Paul Rogers is 100 times the singer over that little poser anyway. |

Last week Robbie Williams did an interview detailing how lonely he was and how needed to find someone for the holidays. Today, it's an article on how he would still use drugs if they didn't make him fat. If I had Robbie Williams fame and money I'd be so busy shagging every hot chick I saw that I wouldn't know how to spell lonely and the only drugs I'd need would be to remove my STD's. He's a god in the UK, but a total laughingstock in North America, where people see him as an okay singer who is a pathologically desperate attention seeker. |

I think because there are so many Robbie Williams fans, if he was on tour with Queen then there would be more of them than us. Horrible thought... |

But I grew up on a steady diet of Queen, Led Zep, Uriah Heep, Mott The Hoople, Bad Company and other bands and artists like that. I think most of todays music is shit. I don't get the hype surrounding The Darkness, that's for damn sure. But every now and then, there's someone who comes along who may well be an arrogant bastard, but also has a bloody good voice. Robbie Williams is one of those. I've seen Paul Rodgers live, I've seen Robbie Williams live, I know who I'd prefer to pay to see again. |

again, robbie is for kids, queen are for people of all ages, true music lovers, please a girl being wet saying robbie, who's the old guy with the curly hair, is exackly my point of a 16 year old kid from england who knows nothing about music, music has nothing to do with looks or age, robbie has a decent but not great voice, the music flat out stinks and he will never make it in america. he better stick to england cos he's a a laughing stock in america, do you get that all you kids from england, he's a laughing stock from my way. |
