What do you think about Gallileo's announcement on QOL that Gail Ann Dorsey will "possibly" be the bass player in the upcoming tour? She is an awesome singer, too. |
Richard Orchard 18.12.2004 05:20 |
her favourite band is Queen!!!!!!!!! |
Daburcor? 18.12.2004 05:33 |
Sounds good to me! I REALLY hope I get to see one of the shows! :) |
pma 18.12.2004 06:39 |
We'll we all know who we'd rather see playing bass with Brian and Rodger. Don't we? Yes, good old... De..De Dee Murray. Sadly he is dead. |
Daburcor? 18.12.2004 06:49 |
Nice. ;) |
bolan 18.12.2004 07:16 |
Yeah she plays in David Bowie's backing band and when they do under pressure, she sings Freddie's part so it will be a good addition to the Queen line up |
tomnever 18.12.2004 07:59 |
She's great ! and beautiful |
iGSM 18.12.2004 08:01 |
I would like to John Entwistle on bass...but they couldn't afford him. Not with a beard like his. |
iGSM 18.12.2004 08:07 |
She's quite a piratacular bass player/singer/eye ball. |
Taylor-Mayed 18.12.2004 09:15 |
"I would like to John Entwistle on bass...but they couldn't afford him. Not with a beard like his." That and him being dead, of course... |
FriedChicken 18.12.2004 10:01 |
Noooooooooooo :( Damn there shouldn't be ANY girls in a rock band! |
Daz85 18.12.2004 10:49 |
I have to agree actually :-S nothing against her, though i would prefer to keep the all-male image in the 'main' part of the band. I think Pino Palladino has more of the same vibe as Deaky anyway. |
Hank H. 18.12.2004 11:42 |
Wow, this could be really cool. I don't have many reasons to like her, because I didn't see or hear much of her, but in a Bowie concert I watched she somehow left a great impression of strength. I like the idea of Brian and Roger playing with real characters instead of some extras who just do what they are told. |

Who's Gail Ann Dorsey :s? hugs and kisses. |

Paul R and Gail Ann Dorsey... Sounds like a supergroup... |
KingMercury 18.12.2004 17:40 |
ehmmm sorry people i'm not male chauvinist but queen had one male singer, one male guitarrist, one male drummer and one male bassist it's not so good to me to have a female bassist in the band for me 'it's john deacon or nothing |

We'll we all know who we'd rather see playing bass with Brian and Rodger. Don't we? Tes. Its a shame Johns not going to be there isn't it. But if he dosn't want to do it any more then fair enough i can see he's point. Hopefully the tour will still be good. I just don't want the annoying backing vocalists. |

A chick might be good, as then it won't look like "Queen with a replacement" but be obviously different - the lineup will look so different that way. I don't know what her playing is like, but have seen her sing Under Pressure with Bowie (Doing Freddies bits) and she was good at that. I don't have any problems with a woman in the "band" - but hate those backing singers (I agree on that one). I guess it should be who is best for the job and willing to do it? |
deleted user 18.12.2004 22:40 |
If John would make his best efforts to appear, that would be fine, other than that, well a female bass player is better than nothing. (no chauvinism meant, sweet ladies) |

Johann Code 19.12.2004 06:17 |
She's still only a replacement for the real thing though; don't forget that. Because the real thing wants nothing to do with this joke of a tour. |
brENsKi 19.12.2004 07:24 |
put a girl in the middle of what has always been an all-male band and you get trouble two words: YOKO + ONO |
Lord Blackadder 19.12.2004 07:45 |
Havent you heard? John Deacon is playing. |
deleted user 19.12.2004 13:54 |
She would be better than other peoples! And connections to David Bowie! Yay! But I'm still hesitant about Queen going on a tour... |
teddybear 19.12.2004 15:34 |
Yes but YOKO + ONO as you put it, had a romantic interest in one of the band members. I am sure that Gail would fit in and not try and change anything - I guess it might be kind of like a "jam session". And women do work in band you know, even rock ones. Didn't Michael Jackson have that awesome female guitar player in his Tour? Remember her with the big awesome wigs?? There is no reason a woman cannot be part of it - and this is NOT Queen as we know it anyway (4 guys) - it sounds like a unique one-off tour - even though I am still not keen on the use of "Queen" coz it is only a "half Queen Tour" - but I reckon a girl would be cool !! |
YourValentine 19.12.2004 15:46 |
The trouble with Yoko Ono was that John Lennon left her in charge of his business and she has a say in everything. Freddie, on the other hand, left his band mates in charge of his business and prevented his family from interfering. Therefore, Brian and Roger can use the name QUEEN as they wish and nobody can tell them it's not okay. Not that this has anything to do with Gail Ann Dorsey, who is a fantastic professional musician and has done nothing to deserve anything else but respect for her outstanding performance. Mainly, she does not deserve to be compared to Yoko Ono, who is sure an excellent business woman but a lousy musician. Gail Ann Dorsey is a fantastic bass player and personality and I truly hope she will play the tour. |
Rotwang 19.12.2004 18:28 |
She's a decent bass player. I think she brings attention because she is female. I wouldn't have her in this line up just because she can sing Freddie's part in Under Pressure. |
teddybear 19.12.2004 18:33 |
we don't even know if that song is going to be included in the set list do we? It will be both Paul and Queens songs I suspect. I am sure they are looking for a bass player that can "do the job" no matter what sex they are? And of course who-ever they ask, would have to be willing to do it too !! We don't know how many they "may" have asked, and who said "no" to the offer? |
ziggy811 19.12.2004 18:39 |
That would be great. My two favourite rock-acts sharing the same bassplayer. I've seen GAD perform with David Bowie a couple of times, and I can tell you, she's brilliant. However, I'd still prefer John on this tour, it would feel more like Queen if he was there. |
felix ibex 20.12.2004 11:06 |
Gail would be Amazing for the Band..the Ultimate Bass Player and Wonderful Voice..she looks Fab too! I say let John stay with his Family and leave him be....he doesn't want to ...end of Story Not being Nasty but that's how it Is! |
Brian_Mays_Wig 20.12.2004 13:20 |
If she is the Bass player then i will not go. A female basist is a shite idea. Pathetic. |
Lester Burnham 20.12.2004 14:30 |
Yes, and while she's onstage, they should construct a makeshift kitchen so that she can make sandwiches for Roger, Brian, and Paul. That's where women really belong, don't they? Dumbasses. |
maxpower 20.12.2004 15:01 |
ive come to the conclusion some people dont know too much about rock'n'roll in an earlier reply .. john entwhistle on bass? pssst HE'S DEAD along with Keith Moon from The Who |
Lester Burnham 20.12.2004 15:12 |
I've come to the conclusion that you don't know shit about iGSM, and that he's about as big a Who fan as I am. Also, it's Entwistle, not Entwhistle. |
