Is it just me or does anyone else think you can totally tell the difference in Freddie's voice on The Miracle and Innuendo? I love both albums but it just sounds like sick Freddie and upsets me so I just can't listen without feeling really sad. Also on a couple of tracks on Made in Heaven, but not on Barcelona. Does anyone really think Freddie's voice got better when he was sick? I know lots have said it did but I'm sorry I don't agree.
there is a diff listen to freddie mid 80's (84-87) that husky voice & innuendo especially ... in many ways freddie's voice went more towards how it was in the early 70's sharp crystal tone. my opinion for what its worth what he lacked in raw power due to the illness he more than made up for in vocal range he reached notes i didnt think were possible
Well hard drinking will burn away vocal chords. We haven't gotten to the smoking and drugs he did so he was lucky go be doing anything during those years...
One of the main reasons why I love this album more than others is Freddie's voice. It's so strong on it... As well as on post-Innuendo tracks (Mother Love, A Winter's Tale etc.)

The Miracle, Innuendo & Made In Heaven are some of my favorite Queen albums bacause of Freddies voice an to me the music just seems better. I also like the way Freddie sings about his life in some of the songs.
Like most people have said on here, the fact we knew Freddie was ill may be a sub-conscious thought in our minds that he sounded different. The fact Freddie smoked and used drugs and was getting older are all contributing factors to the differing sound of his voice. But dont forget that Freddie was the master of his voice and over the years of different albums and producers and differing styles of music he sang ( i refer to Hot Space ) he managed to use his voice to suit whatever he or the band were doing.
His voice sounds just stronger and heavier on The Miracle, Innuendo en MIH! I love it! It doesn't sound like a sick person AT ALL! Don't know where u get that one from. It's like Queen had already changed 3 frontmen over the years lol. In the 70's his voice woz higher and it got lower and agressive in the late 70's due to smoking and the songs were of course heavier. Mid 80's his voice maybe got weaker and sounded damaged. But he had overcome this later on after the Magic and peaked with the Barcelona album, his voice was phenomenal then and it just got stronger and more powerfull dispite his sickness.
