Brian and Roger are still alive and they miss touring. They have the right to do it with or wothout John. The Question is if it's ok to tour under the name Queen. But it's already analized on another topic. IF, for any reason, Brian and Roger wouldn't have the right or permission to use Queen's name, what name do you think they could use? i say "Regal Heritage" |

B&R, although that can mean Batman & Robin as well |

Free Smile, The Good Company (relates to Paul's band and to Queen song), 'Hair, Sunglasses and Paul Rodgers'... Whatever they want... 'Queen minus Fred and Deaky'... |

Queen II, Queen Two, Queen Too. Queen (The Next Generation). Brian May's All Star Band. For me there is nothing more pathetic than to attend one of those god-damn awfull 60's reunion gigs. You know the type. Brian Poole and a Tremalo. The Searcher. Gerry With His Pacemaker. Herman's A Hermit. Old men all. George Best at Hibs. Gazza at Boston United. Only Cagney and Cantana, had the sense to walk away. |
Serry... 13.12.2004 18:44 |
Gazza? Is he still playing? Oh my God... |

They could use the same trick that former members of Yes used for their 1989 tour. As they couldn't use the Yes logo they put it this way: "Anderson Bruford Wakeman and Howe: an evening of Yes music". It could be cool to have: "Brian May and Roger Taylor: an evening on Queen music" What do you think? |

How about: "Brian May and Roger Taylor." Or if egos are reversed: "Roger Taylor and Brian May." Unlike bands like the Who and the Red Hot Chili Peppers, which have member changes every couple of weeks, Queen officially disbanded several years ago. It is no more. Therefore, it's inappropriate for them to use the name, just as a matter of simple logic. (Of course, as you can all probably guess, I don't care if they start wearing pink leather jackets and touring under the name *NSYNC, you can't keep me away from any venue where BM and RT are performing Queen songs. If they come near me, I'll go.) |

Hows about Brian May and Roger Taylor? It always works when you use a famous name... |
KingMercury 15.12.2004 10:36 |
brian & roger are free to do what they want if they want to use the queen name, they can. I'm not agree with this because queen is fred+bri+john+rog, but i'm just a simple fan, and my opinion (or ours) can't change their decission. they will use the queen name, just because it sells more tickets and records than other name And i would like to see John on stage after a long time, he's just a simple bassist, he is not the greatest bassist in the world, but he is part of the band, so, if bri&rog would like to tour and use queen name, at least let us see the 3 alive members on stage. |
Rotwang 15.12.2004 10:44 |
Stop these threads of Brian and Roger using Queen! They formed Queen so they can use it if they want. It's not like a bunch of nobody's are using Queen as their band name. |

If they gonna name it Queen it's OK with me as long as it's Queen AND Paul Rodgers, because Paul is not a Queen member. Don't get me wrong I'm pleased to hear that 'Queen' is going on tour and with Paul Rodgers as a singer and I'm pretty sure I'm gonna go and see them. But Queen is not Queen anymore, but it is still Brian and Rogers music and name, that's a fact! I hope this tour is great and that Paul is not going to sing like Freddie but just as his self, 'cuz no-one can replace Freddie Mercury! I hate all the NEWS that r saying that Paul Rodgers is replacing Freddie! makes me sad :( Richard... Love4another! |

I think Queen should not be compared to any other band. Queen have their own way and their own bond. They don't need to follow other band's example. So Brian and Roger are still Queen, but Paul Rodgers is Paul Rodgers... There will never be another Freddie Mercury... I don't mean to say ambivalent opinion. |

Maybe PART of Queen but not totally Queen Only saying that Brian and Roger are still Queen, it is against what each member used to say many times, that is, Queen have been always four. But I mean to say they have the right to call themselves Queen if they want. |

Brian and Roger: Use 'Queen' to your heart's content. My logic? 1. If you are from the Smith family and your brother dies, are you still not part of the Smith family? 2. Freddie was part of a 4-man band. The band was not named "Freddie". The remaining members have the right to carry on. 3. The other Queen members wrote many, if not MOST of the biggest hits. They have the right to perform them. 4. Many other bands HAVE been successful with new singers... Van Halen, AC/DC, Lynyrd Skynyrd, and even Journey (which Steve Perry was not even a part of when they formed). Santana has used several lead singers. Jefferson Airplane/Jefferson Starship/Starship had many singer changes and endured quite well. Nothing will ever taint the Queen legacy of the past. Freddie's place in our hearts is safe, but the band deserves more. Let's feel fortunate, and not 'robbed'. |
rendezvous 16.12.2004 19:33 |
Look. I am not trying to say you're wrong, but just a little bit challenge to your logic: The children of the Smith family can carry the name after their fathers, so Brian and Roger's children can call themselves "Queen", too? |
My Melancholy Blues 16.12.2004 20:05 |
Personally the sentence "Paul Rodgers is replacing Freddie" makes me so sad, too...I won't see any but I hope they will do well. For to Freddie, Brian and Roger were partners that could not be replaced. It's very personal feeling and out of this topic. |
Want To Live Forever 16.12.2004 21:42 |
This is just for having fun thinking on names for BR & RT if they were not authorizad to use the name Queen. of course they can use it. i don't like the idea. not without John Deacon but still they can use the name of their band. Paul rodgers is not replacing Freddie Mercury, but that's not what the press say. check this link ( CNN) taken from queenzone news: link they say PR is replacing FM! |
