I have heard of many people who are upset that Queen is touring with Paul Rodgers, so upset that some people are considering cancelling their membership in the fan club and going to the drastic measure of destroying their Queen collection. Is there a therapist in the group??
Are you people insane??? Granted, Queen can never be as they were. Freddie is dead, John's in permanent retirement and it will NEVER be the same. Yet whenever Brian and Roger do something together, it is as Queen...as it should be. And no one bitched about that. I have to say (as a long time Queen fan) that if Brian and Roger want to tour together (and what a treat THAT would be to see!!!!!!!) and have Paul as the "Front Man"...so be it. Paul is no slouch in his own right. I would like to put a song title here from the Eagle's album "Hell Freezes Over"...Get Over It!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
These people have given us great musical escapes, put a dent into the world conciousness, and broke barriers that many of us reaped the benefits of and now there are people ready to disavow them? You people are not worthy of being a Queen fan (in my humble opinion). Queen reached BILLIONS of people with their music, their honesty and dedication to giving you a heartfelt show...and now you're going to turn your back on them? Shame on you!!!
Brian
I've been waitng all these years for some kind of tour. No one can fill Freddie's shoes, by far. But he left us much too soon and I for one look forward to seeing this show with hopefuly Deacon on bass. Yes, do I think maybe George Michael or Robbie Williams etc. etc. could have been a better choice. Nonetheless, Paul Rodgers is also one of my favorite and I feel he will do a fantastic job. His recent shows proves his voice is still incredibly strong and could outsing many of these lame newcombers. I will bring my son (14) to the show as he knows both Bad Co. & Queen and enjoys them both. If they give us half of what Freddie and the boys did when I saw them in 77',78', 80',& 82,(I hope the dates are correct) here in the U.S. I and everyone I know will be pleased. The music lives on and we sould pay trbute to Freddie and his legacy with this tour. Peace.
There is nothing to turn your back on. If people restrict themselves by clinging to ridiculous principles then excellent. Less chance of tickets selling out quite sooo quickly but considering the musical talent and the breadth of songs which will be performed, I imagine with rock which will be breath taking (which is what it is all about, not silly loyalties to a band structure long gone) I will certainly be there to see it happen. The backbone of Queen fronting such a superb lead singer as Mr Free himself is a sensation and you would be an idiot to deny yourselves.
I am also a Queen and Paul Rodgers fan. No one can replace someone in a band but I have seen Paul Rodgers 4 times this past year and and average of 2 - 3 times for the years prior to during 2000 through 2003. I have seen him on many other times during the course of his career and will continue to see hiim every chance I get. He is wonderful performer and I can not wait for the chance to see him perform with the reamining member of Queen.
I was not as lucky to Queen that many times prior bt I did get to see them and thought it was one of the best shows I had seen.
I for one think this will be an awesome tour.
D
Hii there of corse nobody is able to replace freddie which i think is the best singer and pretender that ever lived. I'm 16 years old and a very big Queen fan, i was only 3 years ole when freddie die and i never got to see Queen live. There for I'm really looking forward to this tour, just to see what's left of the band perform!
Take it easy and enjoy it, everybody in the world knows that Paul wont be able to fill out freddie's place in the band! Don't worry about that! And then enjoy the tour...
eventhoug i'll still say there's no Queen without freddie...i understand that your upset but you can't do anything about it. Enjoy the show instead!
Cheers
I know that it won't be the same without Freddie but why stop good old Brian and Rodger. At least we get another chance to hear the old classics again and I might get to see Brian and Rodger for the first time!
i find nothing wrong with it i know it not the same without freddie but i am sure freddies would not want them to pack their gears away....
i have seen lots of tribute bands also garry mallet too all they are doing is keeping QUEEN music alive so QUEEN going on tour good for them and good luck to paul too i will be going to watch the show with my son and the main thing is we get to see REAL roger taylor and brian may and paul LIVE for the first time and like they say THE SHOW MUST GO ON........
QUEEN IS NOT DEAD freddie pass away QUEEN DIDNT :)
