My sentiments are with yours, Mr. Preston. It seems we US Queen fans are a bit neglected, but discounting WWRY Las Vegas, I feel a bit left out of the happenings. |

this sounds like another one of those "i'm leaving" topics that you love to put up in the personal section. |

Christ, what about us down in Australia.... Queen came here twice. Anyway, please don't destroy that collection Mike. I will more than gladly take it off your hands :) |

I might even consider paying a few bucks for it :) |

I see what you are saying Mike. I'm so excited to hear that QUEEN will be touring. But am Not exactly Thrilled at the thought of spending all of my savings on a trip to Europe just to see them play. It would be nice if QUEEN could play just a few shows in the Americas. Even South America would be OK, b/c I know that there are TONS of fans there (and they were there supporting QUEEN in 1984/1986) I'll be writing Brian about this as well, though not as drasticly. All other fans in US/Canada/South America should write him too. Maybe if he gets enough letters, he can arrange a few shows over here. |
GonnaUseMyPrisoners 12.12.2004 02:06 |
But you fricking idiot, he didn't say they wouldn't tour the USA, so why on earth would you go and write STUPID threats like that, you pinhead? I hardly think your insignificant threat will ever change their mind, so why the FUCK would you go and BOGART any chance we have of a tour by saying something so immature? Next time you get the urge to write a WACKO THREAT LETTER like that again, think twice & delete it instead. |
Melancholy Blues 12.12.2004 04:42 |
i really hope they come to australia, though i doubt they will |

Take a plane and come to Europe :-) |

Actually there is some trueth in it MegaMike, I mean Queen has got fans all around the world. and if they would forget America in this big opportunity it would be unfair. But in that case they shoudl also go and tour in Australia, Japan, Russia, South America and Africa. It seems unfair Megamike, but they should put a line somewhere, on this age they can't tour the world. By The Way, don't burn your Queen collection, you could always send it to me. Cause that would be unfair for other Queen fans who haven't got the opportunity to let their collection grow cause their young. if you give it to me, it would be fair again ;-) Still I hope for you they woudl come to the USA. If not, (I dunno how rich you are) but you could buy a ticket and fly over. |

Lord Blackadder 12.12.2004 08:44 |
They wont tour U.S because they wont sell enough tickets. What's so difficult about that? And you wont destroy you're entire collection so don't make idle threats please. |

im sorry but your letter is really harsh. im only 15, and i would love to see Queen, meet Brian and all that. But he cant do everything. i think it is amazing what brian and roger does at the moment, like, WWRY.. at least show them some respect, they didnt have to do it! Brian lives in the UK, thats why its easier for him to do things over here, not in america! its so simple, if you are that bothered, why dont you just get tickets and fly over to the UK to see him. I know you'll say, it'll cost to much, well maybe it'll cost Brian to much, (even though he is a millionaire..) Im sure there is a million reasons (and good ones) why Brian doesnt visit. For all you could know he could have a close family/friend who is really ill. Don't critaise him unless, you really know the full fact. Queenie x x |

YOUR LETTER SAYS IT ALL! I DONT KNOW WHY YOU ARE SO BOTHERED... DO YOU REALLY THINK THERE WILL BE A TOUR IN THE US JUST BECAUSE HE HEARS THAT 1 "FAN" WILL DESTORY HIS WHOLE QUEEN.. I DONT THINK SO! TO TELL YOU THE TRUTH ... HE WONT CARE... THERES LOTS OF PEOPLE WHICH WOULD NEVER DESTORY THERE COLLECTION NO MATTER WHAT ... THERE REAL QUEEN FANS, AND HE KNOWS THAT! AND THIS JUST PROVES YOU REALLY ARENT A PROPER QUEEN FAN IF YOU DESTROY YOUR COLLECTION! SO THINK AGAIN .. YOUR JUST ATTENTION SEEKING, AND YOUR LETTER WILL NOT HELP, AND WILL PROPABLY MAKE HIM TURN AGAINST YOU AND THINK, WELL IM DEFONITLY AM NOT GOING TO TOUR THE US NOW! SO .... YOU MIGHT AS WELL DESTORY YOUR COLLECTION! |

"can't expect you people to know the severe disappointment I get when I hear Brian and Roger show up for a one off gig somewhere and completely skip the US.. oh sure they have done a couple here, but really... this blows.. and why don't I just hop a plane and come over there to see them, well... I am a bad boy, and I cannot even leave the state of Michigan for another 4 years.. and really I could give a shit less what you think about that. the bottom line is.. For ME, this is their last chance.. if they skip the USA then I am done, I will not line their pockets, I will start supporting US based bands.. although so far I haven't really found any that compares to Queen, but hey, at least I will be able to see them." Well, Mike, it seems like your cutting off yor nose to spite your face. It doesn't make sense to destroy your collection because you're angry at the prospect of no U.S. spots on the tour. I'm with you as far as disappointment goes, though. I live in Cleveland, so wer're neighbors. :) Point is, you won't stop liking their music because you destroy it or give it away and over time you will regret it and probably end up starting all over. If they come, great, if not, oh well. They cant' go everywhere but we can catch it on the internet at some point. Take a breath, Mike and realize that this is not an important life event in the grand scheme of things. |

Will everyone stop complaining Queen have only been to their country so and so times? Brian has his reasons. And as for you megamike, the fact you are even considering destroying your Queen collection is enough said about you. You're lucky Brian and Roger haven't packed it in like John, and maybe they will if they start getting emails like yours. Try to be grateful they are even doing a tour at all. xxx |
Whatinthewhatthe? 12.12.2004 13:59 |
Hey, MM, don't destroy your collection, sell it and make a profit! That way you can start a whole new collection of something else, if what Brian and Roger are doing bothers you that much. I don't hold any hope that they will come to the US except to promote their musical and pick up awards. Let's all see if this venture with Paul Rodgers actually HAPPENS. You never know, anything's possible! |

ThomasQuinn wrote:So right!! lolMegaMike wrote: Hello people, After hearing the fact that this new Queen tour might not happen in the USA I decided to send Brian an email explaining my feelings Hi Brian, Well.. first of all I want to say that I am happy to hear that you are planning on going out on tour, but I have to know, will this include the USA? For many years the USA has been left dry while you and Roger tour the UK, Oh, sure you may want to use the numbers of your Back To the Light tour to justify not Touring for Another World, and why Roger NEVER toured the USA is still a big question.. so I will guess at the real reason.. it was lack of publicity, ever since Queen signed with Hollywood Records they have really done nothing to actively promote your material. I learned of your BTTL tour the day AFTER you played. I am sorry to have to say this, but I have been a hard core fan since 1980, I saw Queen when I was 14 and it was a moment that I will never forget, but I grow very weary of being tossed aside after spending my hard earned money on your latest release only to have you tour elsewhere.. Hey, Thanks for giving us the We Will Rock You musical in Las Vegas, But really, that don't make up for not touring. So, I make this promise, the day I hear that you are NOT touring the USA I will separate myself from everything Queen and Queen related. I will destroy my entire collection.. seeing how by choosing to not tour the USA you make it clear that you don't care about us US fans, why should I spend my money on you? Forgive me if this sounds harsh, but there are a LOT of young fans that have never had a chance to see you guys play, and for whatever reason you choose this time, it will only deepen the rift between us.. as for me, I am 38, I have seen Queen live, but I want a chance to see you guys play the USA and Detroit once again. Do NOT disappoint your fans here in the USA. Thank you for your time, Mike Preston.... (a.k.a. Megamike) So, if you think this was harsh and uncalled for, I don't care.. it is MY feelings and I am tired of being ignored. some of us are not as lucky as others that can just drop what they are doing and fly clear across the ocean just to see a concert. or go clear across the United States for one show on SHORT notice.. these are MY feelings and for once I am serious, and when I say I will seperate myself from everything Queen related, that means here... and I know that will just break your hearts.. you know I dont care what you think of my opinions.. I just want you to see what I feel. MegamikeHe won't read it. The first line didn't say how much you like the musical. To your letter... come on.. the news have been out for like 24 hours and you come along with such a letter... They probably don't even have a proper Europe schedule. What do you think does a tour like this cost? They'll probably start off in Europe to see if it sells.. if it goes well, they might do a US tour.. who knows?! if it doesn't they'll leave it. I think they have to be really careful with all this because they'll probably earn a lot of critics... good and bad. So wait and see what happens. |
Adam Baboolal 12.12.2004 14:53 |
Sonja is spot on. Think about what they'll have to go through to get something up and running. It's not as simple as throw some cash at it and hope people are happy. There are real concerns evident in production costs and health too. And other countless worries, e.g. ticket sales for one. Someone like Megamike is just in a place of his own when talking about destroying his collection and turning away from Queen to support other acts. The above notes from Sonja make the point that it's not as simple as MM thinks. Ground has to be tested before planting down anything solid. And in the end the USA turned away from Queen when a certain video was released! So blame your own country for why they've never been keen on coming over as that made the USA a tough place to make a tour work for them. Peace, Adam. |
Gunpowder Gelatine 12.12.2004 15:02 |
I hate that just because the US made the mistake of dropping Queen in favor of other artists in the 80's means that we'll never see anything from them besides the musical again. The rest of us true, real fans of the band shouldn't be judged on where we live. I wish that we didn't have to pay for the mistakes of those fair-weather 'fans' back then, especially since I wasn't even alive! |

Huh? Thanks to those people who replied with quote BEFORE the original post was deleted. Why it along with all subsequent posts was deleted I don't understand but at least I'm marginally less confused. It sounds like the whingings of a drunk spoiled brat. Spare a thought for us New Zealanders who got Queen once in 1985? and still have not had even a look in for the musical. Whinge whinge piss moan. |
