Queen sometimes played blues such as "See What A Foll I've Been" or "I'm a Man" till '77. Especially during '71-72? "SWAFIB" was included in their set list and after '75 till '76 it was sometimes played as an encore number. Apart from the single version of "SWAFIB" which was released as a b-side to "SSOR", we can now hear such rare numbers only in bootlegs. (I also have a few ones including them.) Especially in live shows, Freddie's vocals of them are still very cool and he is still showing another allure in such songs. I think his other skills with his own interpretations were matching such heavy and bluesy taste. And I also think it's somewhat regrettable that he didn't pursue singing such blues-tasted songs anymore. What do you here think about it?
I do like their venture into the 'blues.' SWAFIB is a great song in my opinion. That is why I love Led Zeppelin so much...especially their first album because that is what it is all about. However, if Queen did all their songs like that, it just wouldn't be the same really. And really, Sleeping on the Sidewalk is bluesy too in a way. So is My Melancholy Blues, but they are all different forms of the genre, ya know? Well...I don't know. I think I might have strayed off topic. Go me! Woo

They'd be compared to Led Zeppelin, which IMO is not that good for a start-up band.
Now don't start on me. That was my opinion.
Oh no...I know what you mean.
I love Led Zeppelin, but why Queen is my favorite band is because they were different in terms of their musical capability.
The only way I'd start on you is if you were John Deacon......hahaha.
Cheers
I love their bluesy stuff, and there is not enough of it.
Queen don't seem to have an equivilant of Zeppelin's "Since I've Been Loving You" or "Tea for One". Such a pity. I would have loved to hear Freddie wail a really slow blues number.
"Lost Opportunities" goes in that direction - of course no chance against "Since I've been loving you" and missing Freddies skills, but still a good song.
"Stealin'" is great as well - they were pretty good when they had the blues.
Thank you for your replies...
Well...they did a few...but it seems that was not enough.
If Freddie(Queen) had tried more, they would have been Queenie-blues...for Queen have been so distinctive. I wish I had more bluesy stuff sung by Freddie...
Some years after their debut, it might have been one of the choices being worth trying, though I appreciate their choices so far.
Queen have not been categorized into any other genre and all of the Queen music would be categorized into "Queen music".
That's why I love them, that's why I've loved them since I frist heard Queen...

In our music classes at my school, we shoudl write a blues.
I fucking hate the blues, but wrote a blues.
I also sang it, and my teacher said i had a very good feeling for the blues.
But again fuck the blues, I think the blues is crap and think Queen had enough different venues.
