People might rise their eyebrows when they read the subjectline. For me Made in Heaven is the most emotional album I have ever heard, it tops Innuendo for me. Innuendo have some great songs, but I definitely listen more to MIH. But Why? The sound: I simply love the sound. I always get this winterly feeling while listening to it. Partly because of the blue artwork, but also because the sound is "cold" in a way. The songs: Many fans have criticised MIH for having too many older songs. For me that didnt matter much. When I first heard Made in Heaven in 1995, songs like too much love will kill you, Let Me Live, Made In Heaven, Heaven for Everyone, I was born to love you, You Dont Fool Me, My Life Has Been Changed was totally new to me. This is probably why the album works best for none fans and those who became fans beyond the 90s. - What Made in Heaven probably lacks is the versatility of Queen. There arent many rockers there except I was born to love you. But still this is the first album since 1977 that I can just listen thru without skipping. (Even the last track) - The songs is sheer quality. I wont list them up, because I like most of them except you dont fool me. Production: Somebody once told me that Made In Heaven was a production miracle. I cant say whether that is true or not. But its pretty transperant that Brian, Roger and John didnt have very much to work with. Roger and Brian even sings pieces that Freddie used to sing. Freddies Vocals: Those vocals he pulled off right before his death is very impressive. Its almost unbelieveable that a dying man sang A winters tale and Mother love. What an attitude, what strengt, what a man! Brian and Rogers singing: I love hearing Roger sing parts that Freddie normally would sing (sorry Freddie, you were the best though). Roger rarely sang ballads with Queen. Why didnt he do that more? His lines in Let Me Live is so beautiful, it suits him 100%. Brian May though....he is not as good as Roger. Sometimes it feels like Brian demands to sing only because he has made many good songs. If you compare them on Let me live and No One But You....well. I dont think Brian is in the same league. |

I would have much preferred an EP with the Freddie's last three songs, but why shouldn't they make shitloads more money by padding it out to make an album? I know I would! I love You Don't Fool Me. Quite simple, I guess, but Brian gets a decent-length guitar solo and the whole things just sounds great. Makes me proud to be a Queen fan, it does. |
Another Roger (re) 08.12.2004 07:30 |
I agree that the guitarsolo is good :) |
mike hunt 08.12.2004 12:10 |
made in heaven is quality straight thru, what it doesn't have is a lengendary opening track like innuendo, but overall could be a bit more consistent than innuendo, don't get me wrong innuendo is still an all around better album, but made in heaven is a great listen, not one song i don't like. |
Melancholy Blues 09.12.2004 06:50 |
i have to agree, made in heaven is a fantastic album, there are no week songs, it's beautiful and sooo personal and emotional. |
The Fairy King 09.12.2004 06:59 |
We all look at the origin of the songs, but maybe we should see it as an overall story and look at the emotion in these songs. I think it's a great record, omg it's been 9 years. :| |
Another Roger (re) 09.12.2004 11:12 |
It doesnt feel like 9 years does it :( |
deleted user 09.12.2004 12:36 |
I don't love it ... very overrated. I think INNUENDO is a far more emotional album than MADE IN HEAVEN. |
Another Roger (re) 09.12.2004 13:09 |
It might be to you! I have always thought Innuendo got too much praise. Many of the songs in there are very medicore. My examples: -Delilah -Hitman -Bijou -Ride the wild wind -Dont try so hard -I'm goin slightly mad -Innuendo (sorry..) -Headlong What saves the album for me is These are the days of our lives and The show must go on. |
Another Roger (re) 09.12.2004 13:12 |
If I was only allowed to listen to either Made in heaven or Innuendo in the future, I would have chosen Made in Heaven. Songs like Beautiful Day, Let me Live, Winters Tale, Too much Love will kill you, Heaven for everyone, Made in Heaven makes it an easy choice for me.... |
brian_may_wannabe 09.12.2004 14:43 |
A great 'follow-up' to Innuendo: Freddie becoming a bit more personal. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 09.12.2004 14:56 |
MIH is a mixture of happiness, sadness and triumph. The songs seem more ironic because Freddie is gone. I think had he not been sick and lived, he still would have done those songs because they showcased the power of his voice. And that voice lasted almost till the very end. No other singer has done that, not even Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra or Judy Garland, three other music legends. They just died, while Freddie sang as long as time allowed...and thank God he was given that time!! |

I am surly not kidding. I like the songs. But they are nothing special to me. I see that Innuendo is a clever song. But it dont give me anything special |
NOTWMEDDLE 09.12.2004 19:22 |
MIH I saw as Queen's Let it Be. Innuendo I compare to Abbey Road as the best farewell album ever and a perfect comeback for the band. MIH was like Let it Be, an album of unfinished bits polished up although it is a great album. It was the best seller for the band outside the US and Canada where NOTW and The Game are both their best sellers. |

Many people who for some reason beyond me still call themselves "Queen fans" make such idiotic comments criticizing Queen for taking previously done tracks recorded by Freddie and reworking them to make 'Made In Heaven'. Believe me, if Queen had the chance to make a new album with all brand new material they would have done it. Now remember once again that this was 1991 when Freddie's health was getting worse day by day, and the poor man was only able to record a couple of hours day. Now, knowing what a perfectionist Freddie was, he could have perhaps been able to record more tracks but he didn't want to do a mediocre recording and expect people to understand the fact that he was seriously ill. Personally I would still have appreciated the effort if he did it that way, but Freddie was much bigger than that. Since they knew that they couldn't have a whole new album recorded, they thought it would have been a great idea to take some solo, B-Sides, and demo tracks with Freddie's vocal track and making them into a Queen album, and I truly appreciate what Brian, Roger, and John did with those tracks because they almost made them sound so brand new and original that you can almost forget about the previously done versions. I remember Brian mentioned how hard it was to go back to Montreux in 94/95 to finish what was started in 91. They truly felt that empty space left by Freddie, and who could blame them. Yet they did a magnificent job from which I'm almost sure Freddie would have no complaints about and wherever he is, I know he's proud of what Brian, Roger, and John did. Too bad some "fans" are so ungreatful with MIH, because if Queen rather decided not to put out those tracks despite recording them, here those same fans would be whinning on message boards like this one asking when are they going to be released. |
mike hunt 09.12.2004 23:54 |
innuendo is great and made in heaven is also great, but MIH is not as complete as innuendo, there both emotional, you must remember queen were a fun time band, jazz is a great example of that. MIH is an album with greater meaning than all the others, from the emotional music to the album cover, a (scene of celebration). it's had a lasting affect on me, but in my opinion innuendo is slightly better. |
QueenOnFire 10.12.2004 05:01 |
Both r great albums, (Innuendo and MIH) both have some great songs. If I should pick one outa of the 2, I would pick MIH because it has the last work of Freddie on it! |

To Mr.Jingles79 You certainly are the last human being on earth to decide what is a queen fan and what is not. Every fan of the band has the right to decide for him- or herself, which records he likes and which he doesn´t. Although Made in Heaven is their swan song, it is only "a bloody record" and can be critisized in the same way like some do it with "The Works", "Hot Space" or "Jazz". I don't like re-workings of old songs and I have the right to say so. And there are of course some nice tracks on the record. Only IMHO it would have been better to fill the empty spaces on MIH with some new tracks sung by Brian or Roger (like they had done in the 70s) - and do not always state that Freddie would have liked everything the three remaining members were doing - we DO NOT KNOW WHAT FREDDIE REALLY WOULD HAVE THOUGHT. |
Leech 10.12.2004 06:59 |
I don't like it at all. No sense comparing it to their masterpiece Innuendo. I would prefer Made in Heaven was never released. Ugly production, ugly guitars... with one exception: the magnificent A winter's tale. Only Freddie's voice saves this album. ...and hello everybody. This is my first post. |
Mean Mistreater 10.12.2004 07:40 |
great post jingles...totally agreed |
deleted user 10.12.2004 07:48 |
But that certainly doesn't make you a better queen fan I wish the Queen story would have ended with Innuendo. |
FredMerBul 10.12.2004 09:13 |
I really like Made in Heaven album. I don´t know why do you. "Queen fans", criticise it like that. Made in Heaven is a beautifl sensitive work. I prefer MIH than The Miracle or Innuendo. |
boy of destiny 11.12.2004 02:08 |
I love Innuendo, but I like Made in Heaven a lot. Most of the songs have a ton of passion and Brian's playing is great. What I can't understand is how you guys like The Miracle? To me it's an over produced disappointment. I listened to it the other day for the first time in a really long time and came to the same conclusion. Too many drum machines, the bass sounds terrible and did they forget that they had the world's greatest gunslinger in Brian May? I know he was going through a lot of personnal issues at the time and his influence is sorely missed. Innuendo is definitely HIS album. The Miracle is just not very good. |
Banquo 11.12.2004 04:11 |
On Innuendo I normally skip All God's People and Bijou on Made in Heaven I don't skip any tracks. Hmmm makes me wonder which one I prefer........... |
mike hunt 12.12.2004 18:00 |
i guess i have to agree with mr. jingles, sometimes i wonder, were some of these people queen fans ages ago, and are still on this web site for the heck of it. i think he is a greater fan than most others on this site, he seems to know what's going on in the queen universe. |
