Hi.
One of my friends asked me whether Queen Rocks and Queen We Will Rock You are official releases. I'm pretty sure Queen Rocks is, do any of you know though?
Thanks.
Sure Queen Rocks it an official album. It contains even a new single, "No One But You". And if you talking about the "We Will Rock You" DVD, yes that's an official release either.

Well, it depends whether you count the WWRY DVD as an official release. From QP's point of view it probably isn't.

Indeed it is, as well as having a bonus DVD of 'Somebody To Love' with George Michael from the tribute concert and 'The Show Must Go On' with Elton John from 1997.
Not really worth it if you already have the music, plus the liners leave a lot to be desired.
Lester, the bonus DVD on the WWRY GH was good but no real surprise...nothing that most of us didn't already have. Plus, the audio was not good as on a usual commercial DVD release.
I would have liked it better as a limited-edition vinyl release, it would have done it justice!
The Queen We Will Rock you i was talking about is a cd i've seen in most shops. Its not a DVD. Do any of you know whever Rocks and We Will Rock You are official Queen releases.
Queen Rocks is an official album, as TheMir@cle already told you.
If with "We Will Rock You" you mean the album with the Queen songs performed by the musical cast, then yes, it is an official release.

The closest it got to a digital release in Japan was with the LaserDisc, which indeed YES, was only released in Japan itself

And of course the same version has subsequently been released on a bootleg DVD in South America...
If somebody's interested in supporting professional copyright theft and rewarding the criminals, there are occasionally copies available in eBay.
I support people who take the time to transfer stuff to DVD which otherwise will never be available. Sure, they make money off it, but they're providing a service to fans who buy the group in question's shitty official products in droves.
I love my Flix DVDs from Brazil. They did a great job with them. And I bought many of the same videos over again with official releases in the U.S. and Japan.
I also adore my John & Yoko on the Mike Douglas Show discs from Brazil, which I asked Rhino about prior to buying. "Is there really a Rhino Brazil?" I asked. "Will they ever be available here?". Only on out of print VHS. Rhino responded without actually answering my question about officialness. The discs are dual-layer, super quality, superbly produced.
There are companies in South America making excellent product available. God bless them.

The response you got from Rhino records ceratinly raises some questions... Is it legal to release any material in Brazil, or is the whole scheme set up by the record companies?
That would be the ultimate fuck you from the record company: holding back on the official releases while printing Brazilian discs as much as they can.
No need for mastering.
No need to care about faulty products.
No need to pay the artists.
And still getting the same profits!
queen rocks is an official album of the band.
we will rock you, there are a lot of realises (officials and no-officials): gratest hits we will rock you, we will rock you (montreal) in vhs and dvd, we will rock you the musical, we will rock you the single version.
