Rogers voice
| deleted user 02.12.2004 18:01 |
Why is Rogers singing voice so rough? e.g. listen to his voice in, I'm in love with my car, Dog With A Bone, Fight From The Inside, More Of That Jazz etc. |
| Gunpowder Gelatine 02.12.2004 18:46 |
Even if you listen to his voice on the first album, it's still rough. He sounds even rougher later on, though, because of all the smoking. But I think his voice is just naturally like that, kind of like Rod Stewart. |
| iGSM 02.12.2004 19:58 |
Damn right. He looks like Rod too. |
| deleted user 02.12.2004 21:22 |
Why even name examples ? You'll hardly find a song where Rog's voice isn't rough. |
| Gunpowder Gelatine 02.12.2004 21:38 |
The only song I've found where he doesn't sound like his normal self at all is Heaven For Everyone. I don't know what was up with his voice, but it had no roughness to it at all until almost the last verse. |

His voice is great :) I love it. |
| siljeoen 03.12.2004 05:38 |
yup! :) |

I also think his voice is great. I just woundered whether any of you knew why it was so rough. I sometimes prefer his rough voice. I also like his voice in Liar by the cross. Whats your favorite roger song. |

Roger's a smoker and a drinker, so that's why his voice sometimes sounds like it's gone through a shredder and back, but he still has it where singing's concerned and sounds great!! I just wonder if he can still hit those high notes without coughing... |
| Sonja 03.12.2004 11:31 |
He also has a kind of smokey voice when he speaks. I love rough voices! The Stereophonics singer's voice is one of my favourites! |
| brENsKi 03.12.2004 11:55 |
i think he sings a lot like springsteen which isn't surprising when you realize that he's a big fan of old bruce |
| KevMull 03.12.2004 12:15 |
SMOKING! Simple as that. |
| AlleeCat 03.12.2004 12:34 |
I've always thought that Roger's voice would be very well suited to do cover versions of Rod Stewart songs in concert. |
| Farlander 03.12.2004 12:34 |
No, I have no doubt that the smoking/drinking/whatever contributed to the timbre of his voice, especially in later years, but it's also that Roger's voice has a natural raspiness to it. It's a great rock and roll voice. In fact, Roger may be the most underrated singer in popular music. |
| deleted user 03.12.2004 16:36 |
Some time ago Rod Stewart was on the radio and I remember that I thought that I was listening to Roger instead! Then I realised how similar their voices are! |
| GiantSpider 03.12.2004 16:42 |
His voice is amazing. It wouldn't be Rog if it wen't rough. |
| Yogurt 03.12.2004 22:52 |
He has the Rock n Roller's voice! I like it. When I first heard I'm in Love with My Car, I thought it was sexy. |
| Matti 03.12.2004 23:17 |
I loved it the moment I heard it! :) |
| Gondorian Queen Fan 03.12.2004 23:39 |
When I heard him say "and this is Roger Taylor".I listened to it over two times! |
| KittyCat 04.12.2004 04:07 |
Rog´s voice is naturally rough...I mean, it wasn´t his choice to sing the way like this... |
| LiveAidQueen 04.12.2004 06:28 |
He reminds me of Rod Stewert. |
| Roger_in_Tigerskin_Trousers 04.12.2004 06:56 |
His worst singing moment- in hammer to fall when he sings "Oh NO!", now that's rough |
| mr bad guy 5656 04.12.2004 07:17 |
Roger Taylor is Rod Stewaert... |

Dominque having Cancer??? were was this said. That's what I heard... I read somewhere that she did. I think it was Freddie's bio, the one by Jim Hutton - not the most reliable source but there are other things to back it up. I've read in heaps of other places that he quit in '86 or '87 "...'cos his girlfriend got sick..." Anyway, he's hotter than Rod with better music and (of course) a better voice... |
| GiantSpider 05.12.2004 07:15 |
Freddie doesn't have a rough voice and he smoked......... |
| queen-mad 4729 05.12.2004 07:56 |
Rogers voice isn't down to smoking he has a naturally "rough" voice. Its obvious from the first ever recordings of him and i don't know if he was smoking back when he was 14 or 15 and even if he was it wouldn't have effected his voice yet. His voice is great, he still has a fab range. RE the Dominique thing, he did quit because she was suffering from Breast Cancer late 86 i think, before he got with Debbie. |

I love Roger's voice. He can sing, that's the main thing. Just listen to his solo vocals in Let Me Live and No-One But You and you realise how great he is. His singing is a bit like Rod Stewart and Bryan Adams. And a bit like that Sterophonics singer - don't know his name. |
| The Fairy King 05.12.2004 09:52 |
don't like Stereophonics, i like Jim Hutton, i think he's reliable and Roger has one of the best voices in Rock! |
| queen_forever_87 05.12.2004 10:12 |
My conclusions: 1) Roger's got a great voice 2) Rogers voice was rough from the start 3) Rogers voice is sexy! Damn sexy! I love it!! |

| rachael mae. 05.12.2004 13:10 |
Hmm yes, very sexy voice.. ;) |

Yes...WE ALL LOVE YOU, ROGER! haha...I wish they read what we wrote. I say that Brian and Roger should both be computer addicts and care what us fans think. David Bowie is totally addicted to his computer! (I LOVE YOU, TOO, DAVID!) haha...*trying to stay with the topic*...I like Roger's voice! ^_^ |
| brian_may_wannabe 06.12.2004 10:10 |
I think he also sang Rock It (Prime Jive). |
| Monte: Liquorice Years 06.12.2004 23:01 |
his voice is such a turn on. As the majority of you already know... I'D SO DO HIM!!!! And someone mentioned Freddies voice didnt change due to smoking, but it actually did. if you listen to Queen then Made In Heaven...you'll see a change. That could be due to age too though... Yep, Rogers the bomb!!!! (and he looks nothing like Rod Stewart...biggest sleaze ever! i still wouldnt say no...) |
