MAybe they lost interest in the song. It surly sounds a little unfinished with all these "da... dadadadahhhh dadadahhh".
But bear in mind that Freddie kept some ad-libs in other material like She blows hot and cold: "She's a dirty so and so" or "tricky-tracky baby".
it's a good song, good guitar work from brian. the song was originally recorded in the hot space sessions, but put aside, then dug out and finished for the "heaven" CD. there were just a few line the boys had to work with, i think they did a great job, would have been one of the better songs off hot space.
This rumour goes back to some notes by Greg Brooks, I presume. Sadly, many people overread the important information. I can't remember where, but it says something like YDFM was supposed to get a Hot Space feel. That does NOT mean it was recorded during the Hot Space sessions.
Yep, YDFM is from the last sessions - I think one can hear it in Freddies Voice, it sounds different on Innuendo and MIH. (still great though, especially the high ranges).
And I have to agree, for what was supposedly only a fragment of lines sung over a short, repeated riff, it's a GREAT song. Musical craftsmanship, IMO the best track on MIH (which is a difficult album for me, see my post on the "MIH-US"-thread).
I think they just went into the studio and Freddie recorded just about anything he could. And when a new idea came up, he went on to do vocals for that. So some lyrics are only rudiments of a full verse or chorus. "I guess we're falling out" contains some ad-libs in the 2nd Verse as well and wasn't finished. I think this song is much more complete than what they had of YDFM, so it is a mystery to me, why they didn't include it on MIH... but that's another story !
