I just had the god fortune to buy my first Stratocaster. I have been eyeing them for sometime now. I went to a guitar convention in the Philadelphia, PA suburbs. I picked up a 2002 Highway 1 Strat. I am quite pleased! It is also by coincidence, green. The same green as on the NOTW album. Since I will never part w/ it I figure I can do what I want w/ it. So I am thinking of having a friend airbrush the Robot on the body. I have played several Burns Red Special guitars and I still can't get the feel of it. I picked up the strat & it played beautifully! You would have thought I was playing it for years. Any other players out there own a strat or more importantly, a Highway 1 Strat?
Myself I have never been a fan of the Strat, but I do respect the choices others make. People should not be pushed into buying a product just because their idol plays it.. as you found out, you should choose the one that feels good to you and plays great.. of course if you were to have said that you bought a Squire Strat, I would be disappointed.. lol just kidding.. The guitars I liked to play most were the Jackson USA line, the Carvin line (1988-90), Gibson Les Pauls, and the Elusive Guild Brian May Model.. I did not care for the Burns model because it was too compromised.. The Trem was way off, the Thickness of the neck was off..
How about a picture of this guitar eh?
How weird, Ive spent the whole day re-spraying my strat, its a 1993 Mexican Strat, but it has a humbucker at the bridge instead of the usual slanting one. Its been in bits for about 5 years and ive decided to put it back together. I love playing the Strat but prefer my Jackson more because the pickups on my Jackson scream! Ill post some pics of my guitars as soon as I can.

Not sure if you have ever tried it, but just puting Jackson Pickups in your strat won't help it either.. I've tried it.. My friend had a Mex Strat and he loved it, but he too loved the sound of the mighty Jackson, so I put the pickup in and it just sounded like a strat with a little more power.. Ever use the "newer" single coil pickups for strats? The Gold, Blue or Red.. I had one with the red.. those arent bad..
Many years ago I bought an Aria Pro II, I can't remember the exact model now, that was based on the Strat shape but was a lot lighter. I loved that guitar - it was so long ago that I don't even remember what happened to it!

Funny you say that, My only guitar I have ever owned was an Aria Pro II, Warrior! A strat body, w/ to single coils and humbucker in the bridge position. It could be split in to a single coil as well! The color is called "Purple Haze" Bacically a "purple-burst" I wish I knew then what I know now! I wouldn't have bought the locking tremlo system. I would love to get a Les Paul, my first choice, but can't afford one yet. besides I need to upgrade my drum set first. No Way would I buy a Squier Strat! My step brother has one, it doesnt suck, but I would never buy one. I'd sooner buy an Epiphone.
Epiphones are great, and they are much more comparable to the real deal than a Squier is to a real Strat. Epiphones should be compared more as a Mexican Strat to an American Strat. I would talk more, but I have to go!
Strats are certainly sweet. A very nice purchase indeed. I own a Washburn Idol WI66 myself. Love that guitar. If you haven't played a new Washburn, you should check them out. I've recently switched back to bass, so my Idol isn't seeing much action :*( Oh well.......
