I Think its som fucking crap!!He ruins the melody!! |
deleted user 29.11.2004 14:54 |
I agree, this fucking robbie is ruining the whole song - and this was done to the holy grail of stadium rock FREDDIE AND QUEEN = Pure Champions ROBBIE WILLIAMS = Shit |
bitesthedust 29.11.2004 14:55 |
blooming' awful. As is his performance of Rock You @ Knebworth. It would help if he learnt the words beforehand... |
Hankster 29.11.2004 15:14 |
I think it's good! It starts soft adn a bit emotional, and then his rougher voice starts.. just great! and that new guitar solo is just .. well .. awsome! I wish Brian came up with that solo when they recorded the song as Queen for NotW .. Williams is by far not as good as Freddie, but still this version of WatC is one of the best re-recordings Queen did the last few years and Rob's voice fits the song very well.. |
Daz85 29.11.2004 15:23 |
I really like it. Like said above, one of the better re-makes. I would have been curious to hear the original version of the remake, as Brian mentioned it was to feature a acoustic guitar intro. |
Serry... 29.11.2004 15:34 |
I think it's an okay... Why not? |
Whisperer 29.11.2004 16:03 |
My favourite song ever, raped and destroyed. The song that made me a Queen fan. |
Whatinthewhatthe? 29.11.2004 16:19 |
Thank God RW never made it in the States, we would have laughed him all the way back to England! I don't like his singing, it's like Justin Trousersnake singing it, does no justice to the song or to Freddie (Freddie would be laughing too, no doubt!). Or, then again...? (I don't EVEN want to go there!!) |
Giacco 73 29.11.2004 16:27 |
I like this version, expecially for the new guitar solo of Brian,of course! |
KingMercury 29.11.2004 19:03 |
sorry people, but IMHO, robbie is an excelent artist. i like the version, but, obviously, is crap if we compare it with the original i know robbie is very underrated in UK last week he was here in argentina and people adore him i like his music i like the version, but i prefer the original and i would like some famous artist/band make a version of a queen song, but not WWRY, or WATC, or BORHAP for the love of god, those songs werent the only good songs queen made |
the oppositionist 29.11.2004 20:03 |
"what do you guys think about robbie wiliams on We are The Champions?" dont ask... |
Megamike The GREAT 29.11.2004 20:14 |
You know, I had to sit and think about this question, and in doing so I had to ask myself this other question, IF I had to choose between Robbie Williams singing Champions, or listening to the Rick Rubins Re-Mixes of Rock You and Champions.. which would I destroy first.. and well.. I learned that you CAN break 2 CDs at a time.. so.. that answered THAT question.. so my answer to THIS question is, PURE SHIT! |
Melancholy Blues 30.11.2004 05:03 |
It's awful. I like robbie but he should stop trying to be like freddie, even if he is his idol. He copies his microphone, walk and famous vocal warmup with crowd. When he sings we are the champions he sounds like some kind of dying animal. There are just some songs that should never be covered, we are the chapions is one of them. |

That mic.thing was of course introduced by Feddie, but Rob is not the only one who does it these days. And he not only does it because his idol did it, but also it's easier to handle than only a mic or a 'not broken'-mic standard :) And that warming-up thing is something sooo many singers do at a concert .. that isn;t just a Queeny thing .. Rob is just one of the greatest entertainers of these days and if he shows that Freddie is his idol, so let him. I think it's a nice tribute to Mr. Great Pretender |

KingMercury wrote: i know robbie is very underrated in UKWhat the hell?!?!? He is one of the most over-rated artist ever, anywhere. What is so good about him? Some soungs are ok, but does he even write them (too lazy to check)? His voice sucks and his praised stage performance really annoys me. |
deleted user 30.11.2004 07:30 |
I cant stand Robbie Williams voice but i like the music that Queen are making |
Sebastian 30.11.2004 07:31 |
I like a lot how he sang it. Btw I don't know if he writes his songs but that doesn't make him mediocre in the case he doesn't. Is Kiri Te Kanawa mediocre then? Tina Turner? Elaine Paige? Celine Dion? |
Oberon 30.11.2004 08:27 |
I think it's ok, about as good as anyone could do with the song really (i.e. not Fred singing). I think RW is good at what he does - catchy songs, good performance etc. I think RW has written the odd song himself, but mainly writes lyrics to other's (formerly Guy Chambers) melodies etc. Not a talent like Queen, the Stones, Beatles, The Who etc, but valid in his own right as a performer. You've got to give him credit for being able to break away from a boy band and become so successful. |
The Fairy King 30.11.2004 08:33 |
Best Queen + collab really, if u don't like it..well...FUCK U. |
Fenderek 30.11.2004 08:42 |
Pure crap- don't really like the original, but the version with Robbie was just absolutely awful. Sebastian mentioned Celine Dion- no, she's not mediocre, she's absolutely wful- the huge range doesn't make a good singer... Her voice isIMO without any feelings whatsoever. Technically maybe she's brilliant but her songs are very sappy and her voice irritaiting. IMHO, of course... I agree about Tina Turner though... Robbie being underrated in UK? are you crazy...? He's everyfuckingwhere!!!! Any single he releases is played to death on every single radio station, at every single music TV programme- everyone loves this pathetic and arrogant twat. IMO he ahs no style whatsoever... |
The Fairy King 30.11.2004 09:38 |
arrogant twat?? Freddie woz arrogant as hell and u like him don't u? If he hadn't done a song with Rog n Bri u would love him, u can't deny his songwriting skills and voice...he's one of the best, just face it. |
Fenderek 30.11.2004 10:28 |

Blobby has the complexes and just desperately tries to show off... I couldn't stand ANGELS and other crap long before he sang with Queen. When they annaunced the collaboration- I was already devastated... He's a wanker and he doesn't have any songwriting skills as the songs are written by other ppl... How about that? |
LadyMoonshineDown 30.11.2004 10:59 |
Well, it is obvious that no one can replace Freddie. Robbie Williams has a good voice, but not for the take over on Queen music. No one does, except the band members, but that is on a different note. Anyway, my point being is this: No matter how hard someone tries to remake something, it just won't sound as good. Especially when it was Freddie who used to be on vocals. Cheers |
The Fairy King 30.11.2004 11:03 |
Shows u don;t have any taste Fenderek, how about that? :P |
Rick 30.11.2004 14:21 |
I've heard that Robbie makes a fool of John in the song, because John didn't want to cooperate with Robbie. He sings something like: 'Johnny you're a piggy boy...' Or something like that. Robbie, screw you! Deaky, you rock! |
Flo Joe 30.11.2004 14:45 |
I like it! But I prefer the Version done with Zuccero from Pavarotti and Friends, or with Anastacia from 46664. |

(I don't EVEN want to go there!!)RW didn't make it here in the US as we had The Backside Boys and N Stink hijacking music. All we needed was some loser named Robbir Williams. At first, I thought it was Pink Floyd's Tour Manager since 1977 becoming a pop star but I was wrong! The Floyd's RW has no hair on his head and is chubby whilst the pop RW looks like some fag ass version of 007. |

And has a really cool video, dont u think so? To say the truth, i would like to see a release with Queen songs sang by new artists. There are some songs which should be "upgraded" cause their sound is really old fashioned, like Another One Bites the Dust. What would you say for a new edition of songs like Under Pressure, Action This Day, I Want to Break Free? |

Not fond of it. The 3 things that really annoy me are... 1. The intro. No point. 2. The fading out of 'of the worlddddddddddddd'. Very, very homo-seeks-ual. Just because I don't like. Yeah. So there, cunts*. 3. It featured in A Knights Tale which stars Heath Ledger who I had met just before he started filming it. And I wasn't offered a part. The selfishness of it. Like I said, I'm not fond of it. I'll listen to it if only for the guitar solo. Put it this way, I like the Blind Guardian version of Spread Your Wings. Hey, I don't particularly like the wavering guitars at about 2:55 to 3:01 in the original. So fuck you. Yes. Anyone who wants to say 'but queeeeen are the best, lollerskates!!!!!!!!1111! u r gay 4 not likng queen!'. You fuck bags.* *Only really applies to anyone who wants to question my beliefs. |

I don't give a flying f**k what John likes and what he doesn't. I just think Robbie is crap- simple as that. I am thinking for myself and don't let the TV and radio decide for me what is cool and what isn't... The fact that some song is being played hundred times on the radio doesn't make it a classic and doesn't make me like it... OMG- why am I actually replying to this...? *checks temperature / pulse / anything* *everything seems fine- maybe just short (?) period of dumbness...* Or I'm just bloody bored.... *yawn* |

I would love to see something like that with; WWRO WATC Fat Bottomed Girls Radio Ga Ga IWTBF Tie your mother down Bicycle Race A Kind of Magic just a bit rockier .. and if they work on that, they can also do these a bit queenier :) ; Mr. Bad Guy In My defence The Golden Boy (the version without Montserrat Caballé) Your Kind of Lover but .. well .. i'm just day-dreaming :P |
