Over the years ive been to loads of gigs, seen loads of acts/bands, and mostly come out totally satisfied that it was money well spent. I have to say that Brian in 98 was fairly dissapointing, but the worst band Ive ever seen live has to be Linkin Park. What a load of shite. I saw them in Manchester uk, Nov2003. Very poor live. A waste of petrol! And only on for an hour at that! |

System of a Down, 2002 in Amsterdam. worst gig ever. |
Wreckage 28.11.2004 16:15 |
I've seen some pretty poor openig acts. 'Thunder' (Sheffield '02, on the 'monsters of rock' tour with Alice Cooper) were piss poor. Dull, uninventive, Cliche riddles cock rock that makes Whitesnake sound like Pink Floyd. Also, 'Funeral for a Friend' (Sheffield '03, opening for Iron Maiden)were bloody awful. Indicipherable yelling over a the dreariest guitar chigging you ever heard (its affectionately known as 'screamo', I can thinkn of far less polite names). |
brENsKi 28.11.2004 17:06 |
i can do the opposite....a support band that were bettter than the headline Rose Tattoo absolutely blitzed Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow stafford bingley hall 81 also Scorpions 85 knebworth were better than purple - although purple were acceptable |
Mr Mercury 28.11.2004 17:06 |
If we are talking of support acts as well then I have to say Great White were up there on the rank rotten pile. As for headline acts I have yet to see a bad one. |

Oh yeah, I remember it well, It was September 20th 1980, I went to the Joe Louis Arena to see the GREATEST band in the world.. Dakota.... and after their GREAT concert we were given these Weirdos from the UK.. I think they called themselves Queem.. No. Queen. yeah.. Anyway.. I kept yelling we want Dakota.. but they never came back.. oh how I missed them Seriously though, I saw some Great concerts.. and even if I didnt like the band I liked the show.. But one artist stands out.. Quiet Riot.. In 1994 or so.. I cant remember off hand.. but they were a joke.. has beens..Kevin Dubrow kept tossing his WIG back as if it were real. they were playing at a local Club.. how low can you get? well, he admitted that he still lived with his mom and that he was broke. yep.. THATs low.. |

A couple of them... - ELTON JOHN, Trenton NJ April 2000 God, I love Elton but this gig totally sucked. Trenton is one awful town and I almost couldn't find a parking spot. I only got seats way on the back and I paid 70 bucks for them. The worst part of all was that it was just Elton on the piano, there was no back-up band. Very lame. - LINKIN PARK, Hammerstein Ballroom, NY 2001 One of my friends had no one else to go with, so she asked me if I could go with her to the concert. Crappy concert, but at least I didn't have to pay for the ticket. - MARC ANTHONY, Jones Beach Amphitheater June 2002. Marc Anthony might be an awesome singer, but even when the concert is only 1 hour and 20 minutes long, you just don't get your money's worth. Aside from that he only sang 3 songs in spanish, which are actually his best material. - FLEETWOOD MAC, Jones Beach Amphitheater June 2004. This wasn't an awful gig, but I just don't consider Fleetwood Mac a very exciting live band. I went there only because my girlfriend is a Stevie Nicks freak, and she really wanted to go. |
Brian_Mays_Wig 28.11.2004 19:12 |
Im very surprised Pim, I saw System of A Down in 1999 supporting Black Sabbath in Birmingham - they were one of the best live acts Ive ever seen! |

REO Speedwagon and John Cougar Melloncamp |
jericho05 28.11.2004 21:39 |
I saw Fleetwood Mac in 1992 when they were totally disinegrating. The band did not want to be there and Stevie Nicks was having costume changes when it wasn't her song. Dreadful. |
MayFan 28.11.2004 22:34 |
I saw The Cars on the Heartbeat City tour at city island in Harrisburg, Pa. (like '84-85?) They were horrific. They had absolutely no life at all. They said nothing (really, nothing) the whole show. Every song sounded exactly like the record. Wang Chung opened for them and I enjoyed them better!! |

Rip Van Winkle wrote: REO Speedwagon and John Cougar MelloncampWhen did you see REO?? I've seen them twice. Last time I saw them was with Journey and Styx last year. They were OK. However, the first time I saw them was at Hershey Arena in 1984 and they absolutely kicked major ass!! One of the best live shows I ever saw. Nothing fancy lights or effects wise. Just a kick-ass rockin' band! I was suprised, too. |

jericho04 wrote: I saw Fleetwood Mac in 1992 when they were totally disinegrating. The band did not want to be there and Stevie Nicks was having costume changes when it wasn't her song. Dreadful. They were even worse after they disintegrated. I saw them at a local amusement park, probably around '94 or '95, with Pat Benatar and REO Speedwagon. Stevie Nicks & Lindsey Buckingham had left the band by then and they had some woman named Becca Bramlett (I think that's her name) replacing Stevie and Dave Mason replacing Lindsey on guitar. I can't remember anything about them playing other than them playing 2 Dave Mason solo songs, a couple new songs I'd never heard, and Mick Fleetwood played at least a 10-minute drum solo....it was sooo boring. |
Shay 29.11.2004 02:02 |
Other than the Fleetwood Mac show I mentioned above, I saw Rod Stewart in '99 and his live show wasn't just that good. I like Rod's stuff up 'til about 1990 or so and have his Storyteller boxed set, but his live show was disappointing. I think he addressed the crowd about 3 times that night...and once he told everyone on the floor to sit down!!??!....that's the only concert I've ever been to where someone told everyone to sit down...lol |
Mr. Scully 29.11.2004 02:56 |
Metallica really sucked this year. But maybe that was because the concert was in daylight, the sound was terrible (and not loud) and it was a very windy weather. |
Holly2003 29.11.2004 03:44 |
Kiss at Belfast King's Hall. Fucking awful. Like a bad pub band. Gary Moore was also shite, much to my surprise. Two support bands that were cack: Dokken opening for AC/DC at Wembley Arena and Girlschool for the Scorpions at Hammersmith Odeon. |

I went to see Nick Cave and as a support band there was MERCURY REV- utter crap!!! Also- @ Reading 2003 I saw Good Charlotte- now that's what I call a really bad gig!!! |

Milton Keynes 1982, crap sound, drizzling rain, 8 hours listening to crap before Queen came on, and the booze ran out. |
Sonja 29.11.2004 16:17 |
The Strokes Feb 2002 in Cologne 25€ for a 35 min set. They came on stage, drunk, played all the songs off the album, which aren't long, and went. No talking to the audience (I was wondering if they even realized there was one), no encore... nothing! I haven't spent a cent on the Strokes ever since and I definitely won't ever again! I don't know if they think this behaviour is cool or if they want to keep a dirty rock and roll image or what... but it's certainly not cool at all! A saturday evening at home is more exciting than The Strokes live. |
LiveAidQueen 29.11.2004 17:48 |
I saw Fleetwood Mac in 2002 and they were terrible. I only went because my friend is obsessed and she had an extra ticket. I liked about 2 songs, but overall it was lame and tiring. I fell asleep for about 10 minutes...And the tickets were 40+ dollars, what a rip off... |

The Strokes are just full of music critic hype. There's nothing really great or original about them. |

The Manic Street Preachers in Hamburg 98. No show, no conversation with the audience. Just said hello...played some songs...said thank you...played some more songs...said thank you and good bye after 80 minutes. |

I quite like the Strokes. |

<font color="red">LiveAidQueen wrote: I quite like the Strokes.Yeah, I used to like them, too. their first album was fun. Although the songs all sound like a different version of just one song but it's alright. The thing that proves that the Strokes are just a bunch of crap is the second album that sounds exactly like the first one. No development, no growing at all. Well..and then the live show which is even more proof that they're not worth one good thing that's ever been said about them. As Mr.Jingles said, it's just the hype, of which I actually don't understand where it comes from.... |
Mr.Jingles 30.11.2004 17:26 |
I think the same thing happens with The White Stripes, Sonja. I have to say that 'Seven Nation Army' and 'The Hardest Button To Button' are superb songs, but the their entire album is absolutely dull and boring. I just don't get what is it that critics find so great about bands like The White Stripes, or The Strokes. I guess we'll just have to remember Freddie's words, and realize that music critics are nothing but a bunch of frustrated musicians. |
LiveAidQueen 30.11.2004 18:23 |
I've seen alot of negative remarks about Fleetwood Mac too... |
Mr.Jingles 30.11.2004 19:03 |
There's nothing more painful than seeing Fleetwood Mac performing 'Landslide'. God, I think Stevie Nicks has kind of a cool yet strange voice, but on 'Landslide' she truly sounds like an agonizing goat. |
LiveAidQueen 30.11.2004 19:57 |
I agree. She's too much for me. |

I should have replied to this earlier, but ... I saw REO Speedwagon in Champaign Illinois (their birthplace) in 1982 I think. I found them uninspiring, cheesy, bland and predictable, and falling far short of their You Get What You Play For live album. It probably does not help that I am more fond of the older REO songs (Little Queenie cover, Keep Pushin, and Golden Country etc) rather than when they were a Top 40 band. |
*goodco* 01.12.2004 09:16 |
first, as to REO Saw them shortly after the live double LP was released. Richrath was unbelievable, the concert terrific! REO, Nazareth, and some nonames were on the bill. We arrived and listened to the horrible first band. Dreadful! Then they started playing 'Love Hurts'..... REO's Nine Lives concert May'80 was superb. Opened with 'Sophisticated Lady' and 'Like You Do' and kept right on jammin' all night. Went to The Silver Dollar Saloon in East Lansing afterwards. About an hour later, they showed up and jammed for about 45 minutes. Pretty cool stuff indeed. Pity that Cronin pushed them too much towards the bland and ballad crap. to megamike: So you saw Dakota at Joe Louis in 1980, too!?!?!?! I couldn't get enough of them, and travelled to Cleveland just so I could see their next gig. If push came to shove, I guess I'd have to say the headliners both of those nights were slightly better. Seriously........what a waste of time. Since Queen didn't use a warmup band in '78 in Kzoo, and they were bigger in '80, we busted a gut to be at the Joe before 8pm figuring that's when the boys would perform. At least we had time to grab a brew or two before the main event. joe, wife, and the dakota doggie+ |
