Well, I cruised onto Brian's site and found this little blurb:
"We intend that the version of Teo Torriatte to appear on Jewels 2 in Japan will be a new mix, made from a totally restored "Mutitrack" in Protools, being worked on at present in my studio."
And...
"If it is perceived to be as exciting as we think it will be .... we may do some more of these restorations in the digital domain. But there is no suggestion that these will REPLACE the original mixes, done at the time. These will always have a special charm and significance, and will always (as long as we have the power !) be available as part of the original integral albums."
Good stuff! And it also hints at the idea that the DATR dvd-a will be on its way sometime in the future, as promised.
Peace,
Adam.
Yeah, Brian noticed that nasty hum throughout the song on the second DVD (On Fire). It sounds ghastly on headphones!
Sad a new DVD-A didn't come out this year, blame it on the musical because it's so time-consuming.
.....or does that mean that they are finding another way to release the whole back catalogue again after just making the Japanese re-issues available in the UK?
It's very possible that the catalogue will be totally remixed and re-released, yes. At last... I welcome it with open arms!
When I found out that Brian was having thoughts about this, I felt so happy. While the 2001 remasters are good (up till a certain album). They weren't what I was expecting, i.e. 24-bit transfers of JUST the (long ago) mixed tracks. I was hoping that it would mean, like the dvd-audio discs, that they would revisit, remix and master in 24-bit.
Thank goodness they they're now thinking about it. For the other albums. Just listen to the PCM mixes of NATO and The Game dvd-audio discs to get an idea of what it could mean.
Peace,
Adam.
Indeed it was earlier 'announced'(though unofficial) that ADATR should be the next DVD-A.
After that it's presumed that Queen II will be the follow-up (yihaaa!!! ;-) WITH the inclusion of the (so coinsidently newly re-discovered master with alternate vocal of) See What A Fool I've Been... !!
Good news!
I'd forgotton about Brian's blurb about the "See What a Fool I've Been" vocal. Instead of the jokey one, he found the better one from BBC sessions, apparently. That would be a nice extra. But even though Brian said long ago that he'd like to do QueenII as a dvda, that was a long time ago, indeed.
Peace,
Adam.

you really think so? It's been how long? 2 years now since they first released A Night at the Opera on Dvd-A. If it takes 3 years to release 3 DVD-A that means it will take 15 years till everything in mixed and re-released.
I'm sure than by the time they did a couple of albums a new format comes along so they stop the project
